Best south east resorts

I just moved to north Carolina this summer and am looking for some input on where I can best spend my time this winter. What are some of your favorite south east resorts?

Hey dude,

Just moved back for the year. Grew up skiing the area. Like [tag=254957]@Thegenericskier[/tag] said - app and beech are fun. I’m getting beech pass because it’s bigger and I can get free days at my old local resort in Tahoe with a beech pass (in case I visit).

Ah but you said southeast. Then snowshoe I would say is most fun all around resort. But App and beech still have great parks.

How longs ur szn can’t be more than 3momths

Can’t remember which one but a resort in NC last year opened before any other resort … nov 17 or something like that. All PA, WV, and most northeast hills weren’t open that early. It’s so far south but that elevation makes a crazy difference

I live in North Carolina now as well. Went to App a few times last year definitely the best park setup, but Beech has a nice setup as well.

In college I went to Snowshoe 20 days a year, its a great resort, but far from NC and expensive

Appalachian Ski Mountain, Home of the French-Swiss Ski College and birthplace of Luke Winkelman. Also, you live near some of the best whitewater in the country so if skiing on man-made slush for 3 months doesn't do it for you then you can always buy a kayak.

French-Swiss ski college always made me laugh. But apparently sugar is actually owned by an Austrian

I think you’re talking about sugar mountain. The owner loves to be open before anyone else even if there’s a 5 inch base

it was cattaloochee

Yeah, I'm not surprised, I think Cat has been the first ski area in the country to open a couple of times. I remember going there the first weekend of October in 2012 and riding on the patches of snow they cranked out the night before. They give zero fucks lol.

If you like rail jams, Ober puts on a small one in November before the resorts open. Other than that no reason to venture into Tennessee for skiing. Like other people said, App and Beech have nice parks and Cataloochee is fun to go to when they open before the other places. Not sure about Sugar Mountain though... never been there.

sugar can be alright if you don't mind not having a park. side hits are boosty and i think it has some of the best natural terrain here

Can always check out Liberty snow flex center in Virginia during the fall/spring. It’s about 2hrs from Raleigh area.

I'm gonna have to check that out!

If someone told me there’s a 5500’ peak in NC that people ski at I would have put money on that being bullshit.
