Powder I think is the overall best skiing mag right now. It tends to focus more on the backcountry and bigmountain but will still have park and urban based articals every so often, It also has the best photos hands down. Those factors along with the fact that the articals are fun to read and give diferent perspectives to the sport make it my favorite right now. One of the few downsides though is that the buyers guide is really just a bunch of photos with the manufactures discription. However the monthly gear reviews are top notch.
Freeskier also has great photography. However it tends to focus more on the freeskiing side of things then the freeride for obvious reasons. This trend continues through into the articals, which good and tend to have some humor in them. Another nice thing about freeskier is the little pieces that arn't really articals but are still fun to read non the less. And the monthly gear girl is allways nice. The best thing about freeskier however, (in my opinion) is the yearly buyers guide which is the best on the market for freeskiers and freeriders.
Skiing. It is good at best. The photos tend to be laking compared to the other magazines. This mag is more structured like a traditional magazine with little articals throughout. The writing in the longer pieces sucks compared to Powder though. Nice things include the trick tips in the back and the sugested workouts to get you in shape for skiing. Buyers guide is good but centered away from freeskiers. Suposably they had a seperate buyersguide for park skis but I never got it.
SBC Skier. I have only seen a few copies of this mag but what I have seen I have liked. The photos were up to par, if not as good as the ones in Powder. The writers seem to have the best writing skill out of all the other magazines (which is not saying something). I can not say much on the different features it has since I only have one from each year. This Mag is definatly Canadian and you can tell.
Skeeze- It's free, it's good and it's free. this magazine put out by K2 follows the K2 factory team with intreasting looks into the trips they take and the amazing photos that come out. You wont find much about stuff outside of the K2 team, but when you realize that the best skiers are on the K2 team (Seth, Pep, Andy, Chris B, and that guy who killed the compititions this year, not to mention Michell Parker; you find out that their is plenty of content avalible. Having the best skiers on the team means that the people taking the photos of the skiers will be the best photographers in the world. And since it focus's on on the K2 team you can expect a nice long piece about the movie Idea. Another nice thing is the spoof adds that make fun of other companies; they really are funny. The only bad thing is that it only comes out once a year. However it has one of the highest production values of any single issue so it's worth getting especialy since it is free.
