For food, there's nothing really remarkable here.
The beer's pretty good though. All the local breweries make good amber ales

unfortunately average Utahns love junk, fried fast food is everywhere and traffic spilling out of their drive-thrus is significant. Also lots of sneaky junk portrayed as healthy like vessel, chipotle, etc

I have never been impressed with anything I've eaten in Utah.
They somehow took a section the desert southwest, which is generally filled with remarkable Mexican establishments, and decided that plain, white, best-foods mayonnaise was the only spicy thing allowed.

Red Iguana for mole.
just noticed comment above now I’m mad! We have tons of Mexi food in Denver but nothing holds a candle to Red Iguana for mole. You might have 2 mole options at a restaurant here, there’s like 8 at RI and the Amarillo has habanero in it IIRC it’s not mega spicy but don’t say it’s bland. Pretty sure I remember them even having fried ice cream too.

The Pie. Its a pizza place downtown. Years ago it was a cool little local place but now it has become more touristy but its worth the pie. Like mentioned above, it is full of fast, drive-through fried food. There are the occasional real Mexican places but they are kind of a hit or miss.

OP is a troll, but I'll humor the thread with an answer. SLC has some of the best mexican food in the west, sneaky good asian food and plenty of great high end eateries that are likely out of the price range for most people on this website. State street alone between downtown and milcreek has tons of amazing hole in the wall food places.

Tons of different random hole in the wall chinese food (if thats what youre into) on state, la cai noodle house on state is very good too, few pho places scattered around, most sushi places are good too along with sushi burrito, and there are nicer asian restaurants downtown too. Its not like a big city, but SLC has its choice asian places.

There was a steakhouse chain with a location close to the Peppermill in Reno right across the street actually. Was very good.
I hit up the SLC one and the wings were raw steak inedible fucking awful and this was a XC drive.
Last ski trip I was in SLC after Teton Village staying in a cheap ass roach motel was very content to eat West Coast fast food that isn't available at home.

Curry fried chicken, the taco truck on state street and 800 S, Central 9th market (focaccia breakfast sandos), filling and emulsions (super good and affordable cuban bakery), asia palace (spicy pho), fast break gas station in downtown (amazing fried chicken for $2.50 a piece) many more but I’m drawing a blank. These are all within a mile or so of eachother. SLC is not a great food city but all the chains and strip malls make it seem worse than it is. Lots of sleeper hole in the walls

Sapa Sushi, Trolley Cottage, Roots Cafe, Laan Na Thai, Feldmans Deli, Finca, Lola, Eggs in the City, Caputo’s, Tsumani, Red Iguana, Gurkhas, Cafe Molise. Log Haven if you’re looking to get real fancy. Those are a few of my favorites in no particular order

Yeah that's definitely an overstatement. Slc has some decent Mexican food, but I haven't found anything outstanding and on average it's pretty bland

On average, I like the Mexican food in CA, AZ, and NM a lot more.

Haven't been to the other places but even red iguana, altho overhyped, is great mexican food. The true gems are the trucks and tiny hole in the walls in areas like Rose Park.

People who rag on Denver food are just not trying or exploring at all. My one friend always talks about how great Charleston, sc food is and how much denver food sucks. I’ve lived in both. Surprise: he hasn’t lived in Charleston and last restaurant he mentioned to me from there is a known tourist trap lol

I've never lived in the city but one of my best friends has been there for a decade. Used to hang there more when I live in CO but he's always in the hunt for food. Have been to some decent spots.
Idk there are sooo many restaurants in bigger cities. There's going to be some really good shit almost guaranteed. Sometimes maybe not on the radar but places are there.
