Best East Coast Mountain

best park- loon
best park to train in - WV
best BC- stowe
best snow-jay peak
best mountain over all- STOWE

best parks in the east are easily wv and loon, and 30 minutes away from each other...jeeeeezzz that's cool.

sugarloaf are you kidding me? it is shit its skiing on an ice rink... it has no variety of terrain, basically they have one trail seperating almost the exact same thing with trees, the park is garbage, the only thing they have going for them is the snowfields and those arent open all year... Sunday River is by far a better mountain... it varies in terrain, from all levels of difficulty in trees, has wide trails narrow trails medium width trails... and they still have mountains to expand to... they do a far better job as a mountain than sugarloaf, without the same elevation... so please dont even try to say sugarloaf is top 5 east coast mountains

why? because i gave logical reasons as to why sunday river is superior to sugarloaf? i did not say it was the best or even top 5 all i said was sugarloaf was not #4

favorite mini mountains?

just curious.

I'm a bit biased towards where I work, but wondering where peoples day tripper hills are.

lets just say i agree with 0% of your so-called logical reasons. alot of pple have listed the loaf so far, its a great mtn.

I have to agree with you I've had some amazing days at bolton. and you can always get free tracks in the woods days after a storm, pretty under rated if you ask me!

Hey Ramshead may be beginner land, but the abandoned trail above it is so sick. Hike to start off with, but the run itself has perfectly spaced saplings, and there's a mandatory 10 footer at the bottom.

Overall best mountain- STOWE

Your an idiot. That is the most worthless hike ever. The "mandatory cliff" is straight to flat in the unloading zone. Ramshead is about as useful as a tight rope walker with no legs.

sorry, but that is one of most untrue statements in this thread. i have

skied many mountains in new england, but have skied sugarloaf and

sunday river the most. i cannot stand sunday river. the lines are long,

the runs are short, they set rails up crooked, they have short

landings, they took down the one good jump with a long landing so they

could squeeze two jumps in (quantity over quality), it has a lot of

gapers, and they dont get as much snow as sugarloaf. sugarloaf has long

runs , sets up quality jumps and rails (quality over quantity), has the

only lift acessable snowfields on the east coast, has shorter lines,

more core skiers and boarders, and a better night life. and about the

terrain, sugarloaf has a huge veriety with white nitro (steepest trail

in new england), the snowfields, tote road , and the bunny slopes

below the base.

and best park goes to loon

best snow goes to jay

best overall goes to sugarloaf

this is ski magazine's top 10 in the east (kind of shitty imo, but whatever)

1.tremblant, quebec

2.smugglers notch, vt

3.whiteface, ny

4.stowe, vt

5.holliday valley, ny

6.sugarloaf, me

7.sugarbush, vt

8.killington, vt

9.bretton woods, nh

10.okemo, vt

i have never been to stowe, but according to numerous sources, such as sugarloafs website and goski.com. also i dont think that stowe even has snowfields.

this is stowe

I know Sugarloaf I wasn't disagreeing. I believe Stowe is on Mt Mansfeild which raises above tree line and but I guess you have to hike to get to the good stuff? I also remember seeing something in one of the Meathead films with Stowe footage that looked to me to be somewhat legitimate snowfields. I stand corrected though.

my friend has a house in island pond VT and we ski Burke mt 6 times a year. it has such sick pow that is usually untoucched the park is getting better and better too. loon s doper than hydro

alright I have quite a few haha

I ski a lot in NY and VT, so I'm just gonna divide the two.

New York- I ski at Plattekill in the catskills, and while the park is complete shit, as far as terrain and the attitude there goes, it's like a miniature MRG, which I like. Everyone gets along and knows eachother. But like I said the park sucks, but the ski patrollers let us build jumps wherever we want to so it's all good.

Vermont- Mad River Valley. If Sugarbush(mount ellen) and Mad River Glen fused together it would be the most epic mountain ever. The only thing about mount ellen is that they had a ton of jibs just sitting at the bottom of the park this year.

top parks : Stratton, sunday river, mt. snow, and I do love watchusett park cause it's not scary and good for learning tricks...plus that is where I ski all the time.

Best all-mountain:Jay Peak, and stowe

if Stowe would step their shit up in the terrain park department it would be the best overall resort on the east coast, that said it currently only takes first in natural terrain. I would have to say loon or waterville for park, and maybe sugarbush for overall mountain after they stepped it up with hiring that park company to take care of shit for them. if Stowe threw down for Snow Park Technologies they would totally own the east coast.

this thread is played out...my two cents is worthless. but here it goes anyway:

if it ain't jay peak, stowe, or sugarbush, you probably shouldn't be wasting your gas money/life on skiing.

well i grew up skiing wachusett my whoe life but i just moved to stowe last week because obviously its a sick mountain, id say stowe or waterville

Mad River Glen, as far as terrain and overall vibes go, but they got no park

Stowe is probably best all around with park and off-piste, but too many gapers

not sure what the best would be for strictly park probably MT Snow or Stratton

sugarloaf, sugarbush and smuggs are all up there, jay is overrated i think.
