Berkshire east

I skied there a couple times growing up. Live 25 minutes away, but ended up skiing at other mountains with my friends.

I think I'll actually go there to cruise the mountain tomorrow. valley, any hidden gems? I'll prolly just hit the groomers all day, but it'd be fun to do some exploring.

my schools ski club goes there, which is why im not in ski club. i hear that there park is close to nothing, but for a small mountain they have some good glades

there park is nothing, so far. it mighta gone up now but im not sure. I'll be there Friday or this weekend at some point. There might not always be a park, or a good one but there's lots to explore if you take the time. This year i have been surprisingly impressed with the mountain. The conditions have been prime and all ive done is rip the groomers so far. Also, berkshire east has some of the steepest terrain around. Come to berk.

I forgot to mention how often i go up, seeing thats what this thread is all about. I go up as often as i can, which this year has been about every two weeks so far.

berkshire was my stompin grounds for like 12 years. it's fun if u like hauling ass, but no fun if u like park. the trees r pretty money on pow days

my mom n dad have passes there, if u want i can get u in touch with them haha

my boy kurt wilkins rides there, he's a good shredder. not sure if he has a NS account

I just got back..spent about 2 hours there, but I really wasn't expecting much. Last time I was there was my second time on skis, I believe.

Woulda been more fun if the cover was better, but I couldn't do any exploring in the trees because I didn't feel like getting a core shot for no reason.

No park, but there was a mound of snow about 10-15 ft long in the park area waiting to be shaped.

i ski there every single day for racing at school, i'll be in a blue jacket and on either fischer gs or slalom skis and riding with a bunch of deerfield kids

i've also seen a bunch of kids in jiberish and saga there, including a snowboarder in full normal fitting hybrid

Is the mountain good for racing? I know lots of people practice there, and I think MA holds their HS state finals there. Any particular reason?

Yeah...I dunno, it just seemed like there wasn't much there. I grew up skiing Jiminy Peak, which IMO has much better terrain and is a better mountain overall. Berkshire East is a bit more of a central location, so maybe that plays a factor.

It probably does. I used to hate berk. But now I have grown to like it. I just REALLY wish they would make a good park. They would get much more business.

good ol' Berkshire ICE...never have I ever been there when they actually had powder, and ive been 100+ times when I was growing up. Now its all about Jay Peak and Mount Snow.

the park does leave alot to be desired, hell they dont even have it up yet but i personally belive berkshire east is one of new england best kept skiing secrets. theres so much to explore in and out of bounds.

im gonna be up there tomorrow night if anyone wants to take a couple runs. im wearing a brown and white stripped sessions jacket, black snowpants and k2 fujatives.

yeah it's fine, not super steep

SL is fun when we train on upper comp but for races it's always set on lower comp with a super flat start so you get a shit ton of speed through the straight beginning gates and usually fly into an undergate or hairpin right at the hill crest

GS is much better in races than training, training they usually set a super shitty course on lower comp with a flat start but for races we start on upper comp which is sick. they set the courses way way way too tight, especially since i'm on 183's with a 27m radius whereas most noobs are still on like 176 or 180's with a 21m radius

idk racing was new to me last year but i have fun at the beast every day, i don't find it very shitty, it's just old style

lol i thought i heard a foreign accent, i assumed spanish because it was from a distance....german works too

i just had a poopy race...fuck NMH. they make up for being a shitty school by recruiting and stacking their sports teams

haha so you obviously no my boy kris lawless

kids one of my best friends, we hang out alot, and if your into racing then sorry, but if not then fuck it. but yea the german kid is the man, his names lukas, if you ever wanna ride with him do so, hes real nice

kris lawless fucking rips

he's a good kid though, not a douchey racer, but you gotta wonder why someone would go from SMS to NMH for skiing...NMH has an issue with recruiting heavily. look at their basketball team, it consists solely of 8 foot tall black dudes

haha dude if you knew kris like i do then you would know why he went from sms to nmh

the kid cant make up his damn mind!

we went to school together in 7 and 8 grade, then 9 grade he went to sms

held back a year when he transfered, so 9 grade nmh, 10 sms, 11 nmh. whenever we hang out he cant make decisions haha. but hes the man, i hung out with him the other night, and i ride berkshire here and there, i got black pants and a oakley jacket thats like white blue and red. and a white helmet

the whole lawless family fucking rips. i think one of the older boys races for st lawrence.

but berkshire east isn't great for SL, but the GS is pretty damn good.

and yes, NMH is a recruiting giant. i know kids in 6th grade that are being recruited for soccer, haha

haha no way, 6 grade? thats nuts

yea jerremy rips at NMH, and ryan goes to st lawrence, i wonder who will pick up kris

we get hailey and beth but nmh got kris...

i prefer the berkshire east SL, gs is always set way too tight, it's great if you're on shorter skis with a narrow radius but otherwise it's tough

yeah, the reason i like the GS is because it's pretty steep at the top, then you can tuck though the flat, then the last pitch is pretty challenging.

jerremy rips at unh, not nmh my bad

best thing about beat is the powder skiing when they get it, they dont have shit set up yet for their park

i used to go to berk a lot in elementary school for a ski program, but i havent been there in like 2 years. i remember the best park they had was like a 15ft table and maybe a flat rail. and i think i remember a c box. it would be kinda cool if they put some features up though, its only 45 mins away from me so i could go and ski on friday nights or something

lol i skied over on exhibition the other day for the first time this year and the park is a joke

i remember like 3 years ago they had 5 or 6 rails set up plus a little jump

this year it's that really shitty rock jump with a flat landing and a pile of snow with a snowgun

yup. the "park" wasnt even open. what a joke. and that rock jump..haha, ski patrol threatens to pull your pass. kids, dont waste your time here unless you come on a powder day or just wanna cruise around.

went there for ski club we set up a log jib with a kicker on outback( i think its called) keep a eye out for it

forgot to look for it on saturday. didnt go there more than once because it was really wet and slow, spent my time elsewhere mainly comp.
