scenrio 9: Steven decides he doesn't want to go to college.

1970: he gets a blue collar job, puts in his 30-40 years of labor at one company, then happily retires at the age of 64 with three kids and a still surprisingly foxy wife.

2015: works at mcdonalds, replaced by robots by 2020, commits suicide in parents basement by 2022.

10:

Kids want to play in woods behind school during recess.

1970: kids play in woods.

2015: kids are reprimanded for asking to play in woods because of the wild rabid dogs, bears, homosexuals, kid fuckers, and samsquanches in the woods. Kids are then traumatized for life about the woods and die of xbox syndrome.

Spot on. Scenario ten: Jeff goes to college

1970: Jeff studies hard, parties occasionally, graduates and goes on to have a successful life. He lives in a nice house and drives a BMW.

2015: Jeff spends the entire four years ranting about college being to expensive, protesting and screwing off, all while complaining that kids can't get jobs after college. He takes his english major and works at McDonalds. At 53, he decides to move out of his parent's basement.

I take issue with Scenario 4

- Dad wouldn't be arrested for yelling at son

- Billy wouldn't be removed from the home unless there was evidence that more abuse was actually taking place (ie. Billy is not safe at home) AND if dad wasn't willing to make some changes

- if Billy's sister was actually abused and their dad is still abusing Billy, he might get charged, but still probably wouldn't go to jail. He may be asked to leave the home or kids might go live with relatives or friends. If those aren't options, only then would foster care be looked at

(Sorry. As a social worker I get pissed off when people automatically assume our first reaction is to apprehend kids and put them in foster care. We don't or at least around here we don't)

Joe throws a snowball at a cop car as it is driving down the road.

1970- Cop turns around and yells at Joe and notifies Joe's parents of his mischief. Joe is subsequently grounded for 2 weeks.

2015- Cop shoots Joe.

This is spot on

Here's a 60's scenario

1960's - vocal minority of college kids are upset about Vietnam war. A legitimate issue.

2015 - 98% of the population are pussy kids. They're upset about Taiwanese orphans working in sweat shops; when in reality, if it weren't for sweat shops, they'd probably be doing something much shittier. If you try to argue this with them, they call you ignorant, blast you on tumblr and get you blackballed from ever getting a job.

so terrible. but this made me laugh so much.

Scenario: Joe has some drinks with his friends and walks home.

1975: Cops ask him some questions, before giving him a lift to his house. Joe's parents lecture him for a little when he wakes up the next day.

2015: Cops arrest Joe, send multiple police cars to his friends house. Joe and his friends are all charged with multiple misdemeanors and sent to rehab. As a result none of them can find a job.

For real. This country and their college degrees is bullshit

Steve uses his cellphone during class

1970: Dude! What the hell is that? Is it from the future?

2015: We'll be confiscating that, obtaining your passwords for facebook and instagram and reporting all your activity to the police or relevant authorities.

by the time i graduated last year, my school's policy changed and all of my teachers got so relaxed about phone use. the teachers were told to allow cell phone use for educational purposes (looking up a definition, using the calculator). if you were just texting or playing some games, most of em would just tell you to put it away. but if i finished with my work i could fuck around on my phone all i wanted. the times are a changin'.

This is impossible. The cop would only shoot Joe if Joe was black. Black people don't play in the snow. Racism disproves your theory.

I graduated in 2010 and teachers were generally chill about it. They'd take it if they felt like being dicks. Although smart phones were less common then than now, and they're way better now. Plenty of people didn't have them then, but now I feel like every kid in grade five has one.

Scenario: Ryano is angry

1970: Ryano drinks his sorrows away at a bar. Meets a lovely lady and marries her soon after.

2015: he goes to newschoolers

Guns kill people... Fuck you

Well if someone brings a gun to my school, I would want them to take as much precaution as possible. I was in school during a shooting and now my school has crazy security because of it. If someone had a shotgun in their car I would like them to go about it as a threat.

what if someone is trained in martial arts to the black belt degree? Should they be considered a threat??

or maybe that kid who hunts and is weird who happens to have a shotgun ends up saving the day. I agree though that i hope whomever has a firearm knows proper precaution, just like I hope everyone behind the steering wheel knows how to drive well, unfortunately that doesnt always happen

Kids need to be educated more that its not cool to kill a bunch of kids because of your ouwn problems. Thats super selfish. Why take someone else's life just because you got kicked off the debate team? its fucked up

1970 - kids weren't douchebags

2015 - kids are douchebags

Wait, so if kids in the 70s and kids now do all the same things, but the reaction changes, doesnt that mean anyone 25+ is a douche...

I don't know where you lived but in 1970 if you came in the New York City with a shotgun on your truck you'd be arrested immediately.

also my dad was born in the 1950's and had huriffic ADD and constantly got in trouble for not being able to sit still Or do work.

On the bright side though, the economy was much better and everyone drove sweet fucking cars.

scenario: Jack meets a girl he thinks is cute in science class:

1970: Jack sits next to her and talks to her, they hit it off and eventually get married and have kids.

2015: Jack finds the girl on facebook and adds her, later that night he messages her "Hey ur cute". Girl never replies.

So funny. We moved around a lot so rules kind of changed depending on whether we were in a more urban area or rural. I was actually allowed to hitch hike as a kid. No way my folks would have let me do that in Washington D.C., but they were cool with it in West Virginia. West Virginia still had corporal punishment in schools, meaning you got paddled if you fucked up. Teachers all had their own homemade paddles and they made you sign them if you got paddled. If you even mentioned corporal punishment now, they would quarantine the entire state, and put all the children in foster homes.

Is it just me or is there an inverse relationship between fucked up shit happening in society and societies attempts to prevent people from doing fucked up shit? It's like what we learned as kids. The more adults told us not to do things, the more we desperately wanted to do them.

Or... 2015: Jack messages Jessica on facebook. They start to like each other. They meet up at a local park. Jack goes to park. 40 year old man shows up. Says he'll take him to Jessica. Jack gets in truck. Jack gets his butt peed in againg his will by Big Man Jon. Jessica does not exist. Years of free school counseling are paid by taxpayers like you.

As a product of corporal punishment, corporal punishment is the bomb digity.

I remember once my dad gave us the option to be grounded or get spanks, easiest decision of my life.

(before you -K the crap out of this, I realize that a lot of people really suck at discipline, child abuse is a real thing and a lot of parents use corporal punishment in a really stupid way, like anything in life don't be stupid)

We forgot how much school is better now than before.

Jimmy is gay.

1975: He would get beat up every day by his peers, harassed by teachers and staff and murdered before 20. Only his parents attended the funeral.

2015: Nothing, Jimmy is treated equally and he lives a long fulfilled life.

Chris has a question that the teacher cannot answer.

1975: Teacher makes up bullshit reason, then punishes students for contradicting her. Lies get accepted as fact and everyone get a little dumber

2015: Teacher pulls up Google and makes a web search. They find the correct answer and everyone learns something.

Jessy fails a grade.

1975: dad comes out with the belt for not studying harder.

2015: Jessy's parents hire a tutor and get a batch of educational videos, software and activities that are interesting and proven to help. Jessy masters the subject and discovers a passion in science.

more like: jessy fails a grade

1970 she gets held back and learns to put in work to be successful

2015 she gets pushed ahead because of no child left behind and eventually graduates 12th grade with less knowledge than a 6th grader and ends up working at mcdonalds

Scenerio 69:

Johnson has unprotected sex

1970: he brags to all his friends

2015: he contracts aids, herpes, crabs, rabies, and his penis falls off

i don't sat this to sound like a dick but if you think any of these hypotheticals are actual realities you went to high school far closer to 1975 than 2015.

Johnny is masturbating in class

1970s- Teacher walks over and finishes him off

2015- Teacher calls the cops. Cops finish him off then shoot him.

Eustace smokes a joint during the high school football game

1970- Teacher confiscates all his weed, then smokes it later that night.

2015- Cops show up, Eustace is sentenced to 420 hours of community service and is put in rehab for pot a dick shin

first one is so true. I understand that gun control is a big deal and school shootings should be prevented in any way possible, but if someone is going to shoot up a school, they don't give a single fuck if its a "no gun zone" or that there is a "zero tolerance policy". That said, kids who make mistakes by accidentally leaving something in their car or something like that should not be punished unless they are actually planning to shoot up the school. For example, my friend was suspended his senior year for 2 weeks because he accidentally left an unloaded, orange tipped, clear plastic airsoft gun in the backseat of his car. It fucking said "zombie exterminator" or something like that on the side. It was monday, and he had been messing around with it that weekend and forgot it was there. He'd never been in trouble before and suddenly was facing a huge blotch on his permanent record just as he was applying for college. How fucked is that?
