macs are cool for doing very specific things. but for everything else ill go PC.

Most of the stuff in that video applies to both Macs and PC's. It was actually pretty retarded. No computer is going to be perfect, but I could probably find a lot more things that I don't like about PC's. And the only way most of the stuff that he talks about would happen if you are a fucking moron and don't know a thing about computers. In which case it wouldn't matter if you have a PC or a Mac.

I guess it all depends on who's operating the computer... in his case it's him (duh) so he must not be taking too good of care of his comp. I have far more trouble on my pr 1.7ghz Gateway PC with XP than on the old 233mhz iMacs at school.

They are only different because you havent used them. I have been using a macs since I was two. The first time I used a PC I thought it was 'retarded' because I hadn't used it before too. Of course when somethings new to you its gonna be different

I guess you didn't pick up on the fact that if everything was the same then there would be no variety to choose from when buying a computer. Macs are operated the way they are so that they can be very efficient computers and get more out of the processor.

 
It was meant to be a joke, it is all about preference. Macs are much better at somethings, while PCs at others. I found it funny b/c I prefer PCs and know little about Macs and have experienced siminlar problems the guy was talking about.

i used an apple powermac G4 for about 5 months last year and i own a PC. I must say, the apple system was a giant pain in the ass. Things didn't save when you saved them, programs crashed and refused to launch continuosly. I spent 2 weeks editing some video..i come back one day.. and its just GONE. Some of the clip files are there, but the final cut pro file is gone... No reason..

Another gripe i have is that one button mouse. This is the most terribly made, un-ergonomic, pain in the ass concieved by apple.

They also need to fix up thier soft on/off. It doesnt work very well.

i used a mac for a few monthes when we had one at school. i didnt mind it i just prefered PC.

what i like about a PC is that when something goes wrong you most likely know what it is and can fix it. ie program crashing. ctrl alt del, close it open it again. any more trouble reload explorer.exe and there we go a fresh reboot. with a mac something goes wrong and all you can do is sit there and admire how pretty it is.

People you can use a two button mouse with a mac! So many people dont realize that. I admit I hate the Mac mice that come with their computers, but if you use a normal two button mouse with a scroll wheel it works fine.

 
try running photoshop, final cut, and illustrator all at once on a pc (granted you cant run final cut, use avid or somethin) and then on a mac, and you'll definately notice the difference. Sure macs have their flaws, but i absolutely hate working with PCs. They are built for idiots and are never as stable as OSX. If i was doing flash yes id do that on my PC, just because its faster.. movements (like mouse scrolling) just tend to be slower on a mac so i do my flash on a PC

i like my pc and im sure i can do anything just as good as you mac folk (cept for video editing, final cut pro is the shit)

i like pcs cause their interface is faster, they are cheaper and easier to fix/change shit

look at the level of customization with pcs. you can get what you want without much trouble at all.

power is no longer an issue between they 2, they are the same, at least until pentium 5 comes out in a few months. to the ppl sayn windows crashed, xp has never crashed on me, windows ME on the other hand is a joke. i can run, pinnacle studio 8, photoshop, and premiere, and aol at the same time while capturing video in studio 8 without dropping a frame, talk shit about things u haven't tried. its all preferance. i like more customization.

 
^^word. macs rock. my g4 hasn't crashed on me. ever. and if a program freezes you just force quit it. nothing else is affected. it's such a rock solid machine.

SkeeOrDye its not true that Macs and PC's are the same is performance. The G5 destroys and PC out right now. And don't give me some link to an article saying how Mac cheated, because its all speculation and that kind of stuff can be manipulated incredibly easily. I have seen articles that say Mac didn't cheat as well and they weren't from an Apple site.

 
here is the greatest thing about macs. It's all closed architecture so everything will work, always. There is no need for stupid fucking drivers which always fuck up, because there is only one hardware configuration.

I liken macs as the 'console' (as in gaming console) of the computer world. There is only one configuration, so you don't have to program your shit for a thousand different possibilities.

You'll only realize how sweet macs are when you spend some serious time doing an actual project on them. Not just moving the mouse around and saying you've 'used a mac'

And ENOUGH WITH THE FUCKING MOUSE!!!!!!!!! Just plug in a fucking usb mouse, ANY usb mouse and it works fine. Right click menus and everything.

i like the freedom you have with PCs. for example, while laoding up windows 98 i ahd a shitty CD. missing files occured. i went to my dads machine copied them to a floppy and bang it was working. with a mac you dont get acsess to system folders and rundll32.dll's etc. its these type opf files that make a PC work. so if something goes wrong and you know what it is then its easy to fix. a mac all you can do is change settings and if you forget the original values your screwed.

however macs are more attractive and the new ones are damn sexy and handle very well. macs have their advatages in that they are designed to be user friendly.

i just customize my PC to much. i ahte it when it doesnt look run and act exactly as i like it. thats the tpye of thing you cant change in a mac.

u guys talk more shit than i do. gimme a pc program and it will run on my computer. and my computer wasnt 2 grand, its about 700 bucks with monitor. and about installing drivers, i dont know wat u r talkn about, the only time u need to install a driver is if u reinstall windows in a new folder as before, format your computer, or get new hardware. and installing drivers takes about a minute. as a matter of fact it does it automatically. if it doesnt, then u pop in a cd, hit ok and its installed. ive done it a couple times when i got new hardware, and when i installed a second os.

 
if you hate on macs your basically hating on most of the ski films put out professionally because most of them are done on macs with final cut pro 3 or 4

1)It is possible to build your own G4 if you know where to find Apple parts (eBay, recyclers, retailers, etc).

2)NOTHING can beat a G5 running YellowDog Linux with an OSX Jaguar Mac-on-Linux

ya gregg, you can build your own, but that would take forever, and you wouldn't be able to choose from various brands of hardware. its all from the same company. you cant pick the strengths, and if u need a faster graphics card with more memory its gonna cost you, be dificult, and be harder. on a pc adding hardware is as simple as opening the case, and sliding in a card.

 
last time i check dual processor x86 systems were still up to par with the g5.

please dont try to argue about macs being customizable. you are customizable when dealing with a mac. you conform to it not it to you.

that and the obvious fact that all except for the g5, apples are WAY overpriced.

where are all these ppl b-wald, i know a lot, i mean a lot of ppl with xp that its only crashed once or twice. i am not the minority. the ppl you choose to pick as examples are. im not sayn its more stable than osx, because i only used osx for a week, but i know for a fact what you are saying isnt true, because i have xp, and i know a million ppl with xp. and your friends are prolly talkn about a program crashing, big diference. if they mean a blue screen, then i hate to tell them, its not xp.
