Don't get me wrong, I like ht, but I just hate the small demand hype bullshit.
It's a good beer, but the hype is stupid. A lot of my friends have been selling it at festivals the last 5 or 6 years. Was always getting them from them for free like "want a beer" or trading things for them. Groundscored a cold one on a bridge outside of phish roch in 2013. Idk, just over it. Tired of hearing about it.

I think HT popped onto the scene at the right time when people were still starting to get really interested in craft beers and it has ridden that wave ever since. it's still in the top 20 beers IN THE WORLD on BeerAdvocate.com, which is asinine. the hype was created when it was being slung out of a restaurant in Waterbury and that was literally the only place you can get it. Now it's available everywhere in VT.
I can think of a handful of beers I like better; Swish (Bissell Brothers), Substance (Bissell Brothers), Julius (Treehouse), & Dinner (Maine Beer Co.). I'll drive a couple hours from Boston to Portland for these every once in a while (or an hour to Treehouse) but I am not flying across the country or hopping on to a forum and trading for a fucking four pack. Craft beer hipsters are the beer equivalent of sneak "hype beasts" or whatever they call themselves.

Mountain Toad Brewery in Golden Colorado (it's not only Coors brewed here) is such a good spot.

Tried this three creeks session ale last night and it's a reel good one.
Staying the fuck away from any overhyped beers. Also drinking more wine than beer almost this summer. I like craft beers, but I'm so fucking over the shitshow of craft beer hype.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider "overhyped beer"?
Each demographic has it's own thing going on, and I totally understand the aversion to the "shitshow of craft beer hype" as you so eloquently put it. I enjoy branching out and trying new beers; be it breweries, styles of beer, hops, adjuncts; etc. The one thing that stays constant is supporting the local independent brewers that haven't sold out; from my homestate of MN to my current state of WA. Local independent breweries get my dollars and corporate sellouts get the finger.
For whatever it is or isn't worth, I'm currently sitting in the PNW drinking beer that I personally drove back from Iowa. Life couldn't taste better than it does now.

Idk, never had it. Haven't been to NZ/Aus in a few years either.
Idk I'm open to new beers, and love discovering new dank beers. I just hate that it's been more about marketing and less about beer for years. The shittiest brewery can get a distribution deal if they have a good team. Personally I don't care if somethings called [insert something witty] but whether it tastes good or not.
Maybe I'll make my cans red or call it _______ some creative ish name that loosely relates to something to show how knowledgeable I am.
Idk. I love red wine and wine has such an OG stupid hipstery following. At least that's straight forward for the most part. Beer they disguise their bullshit in some strange ultra "core" way.
I'd rather drink some beer that everyone ish has access to than deal with the bullshit hype. Always down to try a new beer, but I avoid the fuck out of beer stores the last year or two. I'll trade for or buy beer in regions I don't normally to get some fresh stuff, but I'm open as fuck to just getting a 6er of stone, or bells 2 hearted, or some other solid widely distributed beer.

One of my favorite podcasts, got me into beer as more than just something to shotgun while skiing, it's really smart, and looks at a lot of the aspects of the industry that are overlooked. Really interesting to anyone interested in any sort of food or beverage market, small buisnesses, or the service industry. Especially reccomend the episodes with Henhouse brewing.

You probably don't know about the General Generic Brand beer they used to sell in the USA. Stuff came in a white can that just said Beer on the side. Now there are a bunch of these "generic" beers made by the micro brewers. Pub beer by 10 barrel is another one that is using the plain white cans.
