Yeah stay away from the pot for sure. I sure as hell know it distracted me in college and it kept my cousin from going pro. He was the DH fro Chico State in 98 when they took the D2 college world series, but then it smoked too much and faild outta college...and baseball. The guy had pro written alllllll over him too.
I wish I woulda asked my dad this along time ago, but transfer to a diff high school close by that has a reuptation for doing nothing but winning. Surround yourself with positive people and you will have a blast and raise your game. Its the same as skiing, surround yourself with the right people and you will have a kickass time and get better at the same time. Seriously, don't give up baseball. Just give it high school. If you look at the big picture of your life, 4 years ( more like 4 seasons of spring baseball) is nothing! And even if you don't decided to do baseball after that. Saying that you played baseall ALL throug high school and listing all your awards and achievements looks EXCELLENT on a resume for a career or job in the future. If you are just a acceptable with LAX then, hey don't listen to me. Bottom line, give baseball an honest chance, learn from MY mistakes. If I had transfered to the school across town, i MAY be making a career out of baseball or even football for that matter, right now. If you're real strong and self motivated to do great in your own mind and have fun for yourself, then stay where you are and be the leader of those pot smokings loserw that can give a shit if you win. YEAH I KNOW MY SIGNATURE SAYS WHAT IT SAYS, but that's after the fact that I knew I would have no future with baseball or football.
When all else fails, follow your heart, make your decision, and don't look back. And if you're religious, praying never hurts for some guidance. Also, sit down and have a heart to heart talk with pops, I'm sure he'll understand, MOST parents do.
