Baseball or lax

so ive been playing baseball my whole life, we used to be good and now my school blows(we have good players, just we play to good of schools), are record so far is like 3 and 26. i really love baseball but i feel like im getting bored of it, im very good im 14 in 9th grade starting on varsity(no claim). and my dads taught me everything i know. but ill feel bad if i make the switch. most of you are gonna say do what you want to do, but the thing is i dont, and i dont want to piss my dad off because i switched to lax it looks so fun. try to convince me to play lax and the good parts about it and bad. i dont know much about it but i play around with my friends... discuss

Play in a club league before you straight up quit baseball and go to lacrosse. Lacrosse is a much better sport, but you might not like it, and its not worth giving up a varsity spot if you're no good.

Its a faster and more physical sport. Your going to be in better shape from it and most likely benefit alot more from it. All baseball does is screw over people shoulders when they're older.

my elbow feels like its shot, from pitching, it blows thats another reason i might switch :-/ going to the doctor next week

play lax, i play box lacrosse and lacrosse is a better, faster, more physical sport. like said, you have to be in top physical condition and lacrosse will put you in better shape and prbably make you tougher. Its more exciting and how can people talk shit to you? just be like " oh yea i play a mans sport, lacrosse, so fuck off pussy" lol.

in all seriousness though i think lacrosse is a better sport and i used to play "AA" baseball until i was 10 and i quite to play boxla.

You have my respect for playing box. i play lacrosse, not box, and i have always wanted to try.

Kid, play lax, baseball is no exercise

If you're at a D1 or D2 high school and you're starting on Varsity, I would take baseball as far as you possibly can. I was having doubts with baseball and skiing in high school, I mean yeah they are at different times of the year but skiing seems to be easier for me to injure myself since I always love trying new shit. I took baseball as far as I could because I was pretty decent, ( mvp, all league player blah blah) Baseball took me as far as my sophomore year of college when I had to have surgery due to throwing too much over the top instead of 3/4's for pretty much my whole life. I also let stupid shit distract me like partying and girls ( WHICH WILL ALWAYS BE THERE YOUR WHOLE LIFE)

Chicks dig baseball players (seriously), especially good ones. But don't just do it for that. Do it for yourself and I would do it for your dad too. I mean he can't be too mad at you for switching to another awesome sport (in my opinion) but what it sounds like is that God gave you natural talent and you if can learn and add more skills on top of your natural talent then you could possibly make baseball a career, depending on how serious you take it. Never be satisfied. Playin on Varsity as a freshman is cool, but think about it in terms of " I wanna get drafted out of high school" Play baseball through high school, if you're still at the top of your game in your area come senior year, then take it farther.

Lacrosse players get in trouble with dirty strippers.

i totally understand that, but my arm feels gone from pitching and it blows, ill always love baseball, but i think its time i cant play as much, i might play lax and baseball in the summer, due to my arm.(my elbow and shoulder)

Thankyou. lacrosse is very rough and it hurts, alot. if you ever have the chance try it! you wont regret it. Im canadian so its basically all we play up here but we also have field lax.

was pos. do you play? I pitched my whole life till college then I moved to outfield. Going from throwing downhill real hard to outfield real hard is what fucked my arm. I would switch to 2nd base and take care of your arm. Ice, stretching, proper warm ups and stretches. Don't dwell too much on it. When you're away from baseball, you will miss it like crazy, trust me! It may seem like a burden when you're doing it, but instead of thinking about the big decisions, play for FUN.

Nolan Ryan's Pitchers Bible is the best! It has everything you need to take care of your arm and keep up your stength through the season and even in the off season. I wouldn't give up baseball if I were you until you give it a fair chance. A fair chance, meaning high school at least. The road trips and tournaments and the fun that you have while you're on them is something that will make you live in the "what if" if you decide not to do baseball.

i pitch and short, recently moved to center feild. ive been telling my coach my arm has been hurting. he moved me to 2nd. i have that book i do everything in it. i know i will miss it, but alot of kids on my teams are dbags and are no fun to travel with all they do is smoke pot

Yeah stay away from the pot for sure. I sure as hell know it distracted me in college and it kept my cousin from going pro. He was the DH fro Chico State in 98 when they took the D2 college world series, but then it smoked too much and faild outta college...and baseball. The guy had pro written alllllll over him too.

I wish I woulda asked my dad this along time ago, but transfer to a diff high school close by that has a reuptation for doing nothing but winning. Surround yourself with positive people and you will have a blast and raise your game. Its the same as skiing, surround yourself with the right people and you will have a kickass time and get better at the same time. Seriously, don't give up baseball. Just give it high school. If you look at the big picture of your life, 4 years ( more like 4 seasons of spring baseball) is nothing! And even if you don't decided to do baseball after that. Saying that you played baseall ALL throug high school and listing all your awards and achievements looks EXCELLENT on a resume for a career or job in the future. If you are just a acceptable with LAX then, hey don't listen to me. Bottom line, give baseball an honest chance, learn from MY mistakes. If I had transfered to the school across town, i MAY be making a career out of baseball or even football for that matter, right now. If you're real strong and self motivated to do great in your own mind and have fun for yourself, then stay where you are and be the leader of those pot smokings loserw that can give a shit if you win. YEAH I KNOW MY SIGNATURE SAYS WHAT IT SAYS, but that's after the fact that I knew I would have no future with baseball or football.

When all else fails, follow your heart, make your decision, and don't look back. And if you're religious, praying never hurts for some guidance. Also, sit down and have a heart to heart talk with pops, I'm sure he'll understand, MOST parents do.

dude, you keep wanting me to play baseball^ good motivation for me. + karma, thnks man. but the whole arm this 2nd seaosn its hurt like this i hope it wont effect me

I know its good to get as much experience as possible when playing baseball, but if you play summer or fall or winter ball, take the season off for one or two of those seasons. If you're still a freshman, you're arm still wants to keep growing, but breaking it down from throwing ALLLLL the time with no time for it to recover will make it permanetley injured. When I had surgery, the dog told me to take 4 months off from throwing and by then, my arm will be 60% "that's all you need to throw" were his exact words. I took a whole year off, came back with a whole new way of throwing, it was weak at first, but those extra 6 months, I BELIEVE was what made the difference in making it possible fore me to still throw good. plus, during healing time, I worked on my foot work in fielding and turnin dub plays at second. Fast feet= fast hands. There's many ways to step up your game other than throwing. Sorry I keep rambling, I LOVE BASEBALL AND MISS IT EVERYDAY!

Most of our pitchers at our college ran faster times than the cross country team. Don't hate on something that you dont REALLY know. You see the games. It's just like football, you practice you're fuckin ass off so that the games aren't as hard physically.

Yeah it may not take that much muscle to make contact with a ball but try hittin 90 mph sliders the opposite way ( if you know what that means) and then if you fail you get benched for a game. it may not look physical but baseball takes discipline you will probably never understand. Baseball is broken down beyond the boundaries of your mind.

yo whats it like playing box lax

i play field

box seems so nuts, id never do it, im to little and would get my ass handed to me

respect to u

NOW THATS A FUCKIN SPORT OF MEN, seriously. Many countries call football players pussies cause all the gear, I disagree, but rugby seems to be the more manly sport for sure.

soooo true^^, its so mental people dont relize. or 80 mph curve balls. stand in the batters box for one and i guarentee you'll shit yoour pants, untill you get used to them. or a 95 mph fastball, people dont even know

Yeah we've got that understanding for sure. It gets even better when you practice to not bail out on pitches and wear them instead.

We could speak on a whole different level probably, and nobody would understand.

80mph is nothing. i shot 80 in lacrosse in 8th grade. Good highschool kids senior year are pushing 100. Now be a goalie standing in the way of a 100mph shot coming at you and all you got is a cup, helmet, and thin layer of chest pads. Kids die every year cuz they take shots off the chest and there heart skips a beat. not trying to say it isnt scary, but 80mph is like a semi slow shot in HS

yeah in modified 2 yrs ago kids would throw them and id shit my pants like fuck its comming at my head, and i turn and all i hear is strikkkkkke, it sucked, but i got used to it and learned to stand tall on them. when you wear it... it does suck. but hey everyone rags on baseball bc its a "pussy sport" id like to see some kids play and see how many errors and how much harder and mental and skill involving than they think

95 mph in highschool? Shit kids lay off the roids. Good amount of the pros cant even consistently pitch 95 mph fastballs.

Seriously though man, you quit baseball now. You will miss all those feelings of robbing a guy of a line drive in the hole between second and first, turning dub plays, gettin the job done in the batters box, battling with a pitcher and fighting for a base hit, Hitting solid oppo shots, occasional homers (I get the same feelings when skiing deep ass pow) stealing bases! talkin shit and bein a true mid infielder and fuckin with the guys on base haha etc.

were a d1 school^ xmore like 90 92, ocasinally mostly high 80's tho

and for mr baseball^^ haha yeah thats true i love those feelings

d1 has no meaning what so ever to me. Im assuming its the size of the student body but who knows. We have an AA team and their pitcher consistently throws upper 80's. 90-95 seems a little ridiculous for high schoolers. If you got kids throwing that fast I hope they sign to minor league team.

no lacrosse is for the kids that are actually atheletic and can take a hit. Baseball is for lazy kids who want to chew during games and occasionally half ass a 90 foot sprint.

if your going to pick up lax at a high school level, make sure you practice stick skills a bunch so you dont end up fucking the entire teams offense offense or defense when you go in.

i take it you have never played baseball before.

i was pretty much in the same situation as you at the beginning of freshman baseball. i played varsity catcher as a freshman, though i wasn't a starter. for me it was either ski a lot more or play baseball. i like to ski more but i played baseball and i didn't regret it one bit. i guarantee you will miss it. my older brother pitches at UNC in colorado and tore his ucl last summer overthrowing. at first he wanted to quit baseball cause he thought he had no future in it because of his fucked arm but he recovered fully and is now one of the starting pitchers for a d1 baseball team. you are too good to give up on baseball because of an injury, just give it some time and get back to playing ball, i think you will be much happier.

I played baseball and lacrosse, I switched from baseball to lacrosse in 7th grade and I definitely think I made the right choice. Don't get me wrong, I still love baseball, but lacrosse is a lot more fun. If you're switching over in high school though you'd better make sure you're in damn good shape and you can at least catch and throw on the run

Just stick with baseball.

I'd rather not dirty the name and my love of hockey by playing the poor man's version.

lacrosse is were its at, just be ready to take a hit and get up then get hit again. I dont know much about D or middie, but on attack you have to be super quick on your feet and be able to juke good. d is usually big and a little slower then you, but are jacked and lay ya out if they have the chance. I am just finishing my first year of playing and it is an amazing sport.

i stay stick with baseball... i may be bias to it because i play it but remember you are playing varstity as a fricken freshman and your gonna quit that and who knows if youll actually START in lacrosse. STAY WITH BASEBALL!

all about lax. whos in the ncaa tourney final? i know that the semis were syracuse v uva and navy v. hopkins or something like that.
