Base logos

does anyone know how you can get a logo on the base of a ski? like how armadas skis say armada on the bottom... do you need the base material custom built or can you do it an easier way?

i would guess its just a printed sheet laminated under clear p-tex

i could be totally wrong though

i know that alot of companies screen print their graphics backwards on the top (the part touching the core) of the base

armada and k2 along with others use die cut bases... so where it says armada or seth or k2 or whatever else are different color pieces of ptex cut out and put together like a puzzle.

yep. a lot of the pipe cleaners have shitty cuts so that the "ARMADA" in the base is really uneven, but that is how you would do it.

Sublimination is one way, die cuts are another.

Die cuts make the ski bases a bit slower, and also make it more likely you will have durability issues.

Sublimination is a bit hard because you need the right equipment, and talking with a few graphics guys about it they have said that the ink can actually migrate in the base material, blurring the graphics a bit if it isn't done perfectly.

Anyway, I prefer just thick, strong black bases. Functional, easy to fix, basically all that I need.

Maybe someday I will look into the sublimination option, but for me it seems like a unneeded expense.
