THe weather was really bad today, so we couldn't take pictures... As soon as there's a better day we'll take a picture!

I'm all over it!

i am a really shitty skier. i was hoping for a little table that was in the light for me and some other friends to practice on. the little table under the chair near the top was good except you couldn't see the jump and the landing would get so scraped from people constantly tring to hit the pipe. also. at night, if you could maybe paint the lips of the jumps first table on teh slopestyle course. this would help so much for swich tricks that i am trying to master with my friends. and the park is so sick but i haven't tried the wallride because the one night i was at blue, it was closed.

you know what im sayin'

Yeah, we're just waiting for our sprayer, and then we will be able to paint the jumps when the light is bad. I love doing that because then you can actually see the thing you're hitting.

There's also a smaller cheesewedge on the big deck at the bottom now, that is perfect for learning your tricks on a stepdown jump.

As soon as there's more snow on the skiers left side of the park we will be able to build more small tables to practise on!

I'm all over it!

doug, we need that 'handrail' back up. that thing is sooo sick. but props on the current setup, its rad.

Chop the top two feet off the pipe to get rid of all the shit and ice and over-vert, and then it would be perfect.

A couple of years ago moonstone had a sweet spine are you gonne put that in again or does it depend on the amount of snow you get? (I didnt go to moonstone last year) The litle park you had beside the super pipe a couple weeks ago was pretty sweet, I learned how to slide rails there so I was stoked.

Ya when I was at moonstone a few weeks ago the part leading up to the wall of the pipe was all pushed over snow and the wall was glare ice, made for some nice wipeouts when your skis dug into the push over snow~!

I dont think that pyramid idea will work as well now that I had a second look at the park this weekend. We got a snow tower right in the spot I thought the pyramid would sit on. On top of that, there's a 20 foot drop just from the side of the stepdown platform to the base of the pipe. If you stuck a pyramid there thats another 10-25 foot higher then the platform that would make for quite a drop down to the base of the pipe. This would require a really steep wall 'just fit' and that would not be feasible from a safety perspective.

I would still say to give it some thought. The idea would be 100% loved my filmers and photographers alike and gain even more exposure for our park.

ya sry about that got em mixed up, I havent been to Blue Mountain for a while but we might be heading up there next week.

I have three suggestions....

(1)

How about quickly grooming some of the landings and such when the sun goes away around 4pm? The landing on the top jump looked like a half-pipe and I think it was bullet proof! And then at 4pm it froze solid.

If it could be quickly groomed just as the sun goes down, then it wouldn't freeze all rutted out, and the jump would be usable at night!

(2)

How about a little more lighting on that bottom kicker? When it gets dark, it's hard to see if the landing even exists anymore!

(3)

You might be planning on doing this, but the skiers right area seems pretty empty (just wave rail and that green flatbar) and the bottom of the hill seems incredibly crowded (single barrel bar, C box, Wall ride, etc, etc). Why not move some of this stuff up the empty area to spread the crowd out a little?

'It's not pretty being easy.'

Ok.... We've been discussing all of your suggestions already.

In terms of grooming the park before night skiing, I think that would be an AMAZING idea. We've been working on the mountain for a while now to shut the park down between 4 and 5 for a hand-shape and grooming. It won't happen this season, but hopefully we can start implementing that next season.

The bottom landing has a lighting tower right next to it. We are very soon going to get the light guys in to re-aim those at the landing. Also, we will hit the jump and make sure that they're not blinding. It is a high priority to get those lights re-aimed because you can't see a thing at night.

Yes, we do know that the skiers right side of the park is a bit of a dead spot right now... however, we are just waiting on construction of some new rails to be put there. Until that is finished we will try and put some kind of an interesting snow feature there to play on. The biggest thing we have to remember, is that that spot has to be a large rail, because if it is a smaller one, there will be kids lying on the landing of the big jump.

The other update I have for you guys is that we've finally got some sled guns in the Beginner/intermediate section of the park. Hopefully by the end of the week we will have gotten a whole bunch more of that level of features going on in the park.

Keep the suggestions coming! I love hearing the feedback from you guys, and I make sure to pass on all the information to the other park staff.

I'm all over it!

fuck the main pipe, it's a piece of elephant poo, throw some guns over in the pickle pipe and get it nice so we can have a steep pipe.

please... if you're not gonna do it for them, do it for me.

(and no, i don't know who 'them' are)

Still lots of ice onthe Pipe.........This is bad....You need to get rid of the top of it, and groom it on a regular basis to keep it smooth.

Just my thoughts

Booter wasn't open because the rossi guys felt the weather made it unsafe.

And as Jodi said, pickle pipe will be open soon. It'll be quick, but it'll be really fun.

After that we will knock down the walls on badlands pipe and re-build it.

Other new things happening, is we are about to construct the beginner/intermediate jib section. The goal is to have a really good progression to sliding rails. As well, it will be good for learning to spin on and off rails.

Jumps and hips will also be built in this section, that are a little less scary than the big ones. (where I'll be learning a few tricks...)

So hopefully the park will be pretty good for the weekend! Come check it out, and feel free to say hi.

I'm all over it!

Two more thoughts...

(1) Perhaps you could chop the sides of the landings of the second jump a bit, similarly to the first jump so you can't ride up and onto the landing.....because I saw a few instances where boarders decided to go up the side of the jump to get air and land on the landing, but they didn't realize there was a skier in mid-flight about to land on them. Or maybe a fence would be enough of a deterrent?

(2) That top jump is an awesome size for trying new stuff and smaller tricks. Awesome for switch take off too. Because it's really good for many people it gets alot of traffic, and wears down (from what I've seen). Maybe you could make a second jump almost identical to it to split up the traffic and keep it from getting worn down as quickly? One in the big line of jumps, and one in the smaller line of jumps perhaps?

It's definatley looking better than previous years though! Good job!

'It's not pretty being easy.'

Oh you bet there's going to be features to split the traffic up on.

Tonight is yet another big build in which the park staff will riddle their bodies with caffiene and stay up into the wee hours of the morning building exactly what you just talked about.

Should be a fun weekend.

I'm all over it!

Build like a 75 ftr take off on the big bottom one but only open it when there are ideal conditions, that way, when it is like a sick sunny day or something all you have to do is till the takeoff and your set.

sweet, I m trying to get out to Blue most of next week, sounds like its going to be some sick riding.

Smoke 2 Joints

Big jumps will come soon.... we just have to wait for the landings to get good enough...

Also, as an update, our park staff worked around the clock last night to build some jibs that are better to warm up and learn on.

Although it is not finished, there is now a line of smaller jibs in the park. Good for learning on, as well as learning tricks on.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend!

I'm all over it!

As an update...

There has been many improvements done over the last week... the beginner/intermediate jib line has become much more developed with various shaped rails that are no more than 2 feet off the ground. You can hit up to 6 rails in a row like this, with options for some smaller jumps to learn tricks on as well.

Also, come check out our new 20-step staircase rail, a new feature added last week. The rainbow rail has gone up as well...

There are also three cheesewedges on the bottom at 25-35-45 feet. So now there is easier jumps to warm things up on before taking it to the big one.

Come check it out!!!

I'm all over it!

wow...this all sounds soooo sick

i am pissed of though cause i couldnt ride when i was up there (knee problems). no ur just making me even more jealous!

we should set up an up rail with a nice decent landing! Picture the 50 footer on a nice up slant where the landing dropped off a bit, would be fun for spinnin on and make the rail more unique to anyother park, a long upslanter...

hmm... yumm

Up sloped would be wild for that rail.... you'd need soooo much speed.... Maybe one of these days.

I think for now we're going to set that up on a flat deck with a really good takeoffand landing... then you can do the sickest spins on of all time.

I'm all over it!

That last booter was insane! I was making it for the whole week then on our second last day there I screwed up on it and the ski patrol had to peel my off the landing and take me to the hospital. Just an idea but when I was their I noticed that you didnt have a beginner type jump, you had a roller after the bigginer rails but that was almost useless. Just an idea but put a lip on that roller so that the bigginer kids can hit that instead of huckin themselves silly off the last booter.

I was curious....that middle jump that must be like 80 feet to the landing, why is it so long? I think I'm the only person that I've seen actually make it to the landing, and I had to skate and bomb it from the top to make it!

Why not shorten it a bit so that people can do some tricks over it?

Also, this would be nice because then you could get three good tricks in each run (assuming the top jump gets put back in there).

I guess one more thought - it's rather annoying when you want to hit both jumps, and everyone sits on the landing of that middle jump so they can hit the bottom one.

That is all. =D

'It's not pretty being easy.'

ive been throwing 3's and 5;s over big one in the middle. i know lots of people throwing stuff down off it.. I liek it, u just gotta go fast

d{-_-}b

yeah im curious when the main pipe is going to be finished... the pickle pipe is alright but i still prefer the main pipe

also what id like, is a really really big spine... spines are cool cause you can try to go really big and if you dont make it you can just go whatcho ill land on the side

Im with Dez, we need a wicked ass spine.

BWT i dont know if anyone else has noticed the baby spines over in greatest hits (waterfall) thanks guys... the kids i teach love 'em nad i love that my kids are wanted to start to jump and ride more pipe!! Just keep the half pint pipe over there groomed and its awesome!!!!!

i have an interesting notion to throw down... u know what would be super sick! throwing the kink backwards... so its an up to flat for a change... could be cool/interesting... or how about building one of those crazy things in lame robot food movie where its an up rail to quarter pipe, yo pump the tranny go to a down rail! like that would be incredible! and would make for some insane attention grabbers! and a cool comp. enviroment!

I have a couple suggestions, all a lot of work of course, but ya.

First of all, there should be no beginner/novice stuff in Badlands, that's what Yahoo, Greatest Hits, Hell's Half Acre are for, I dont get why half the park is filled with novice rails and stuff when there are 3 novice parks at different places on the hill, Badlands should be just advanced stuff.

put the 48 ftr on a slope instead of flat, so it's like a long down rail. build farther takeoffs on the bottom jump, put the wallride on the deck of the pipe, dig out the trapazoid, scrap all the beginner stuff, the whole right side of the park when looking from the bottom, and build some big hips in there.
