I work at KSRS (aka ski school) and we were all talking about the park, and about how Schoolmarm gets wayyyyy too packed at the top. I usually take kids up there to ski, and last year I swear to God I wanted to kill a bunch of park rats that came too close to hitting my kids and me. You have no idea how scary it can be sometimes.

To reduce the congestion up top will you please park at Mountain House? There is a free lot there now, and you can take the Peru lift straight to the top of A51.

I'M NOT POINTING ANYONE OUT. THIS IS FOR BOARDERS TOO.

I respect what you all can do in the park, but I don't respect you doing park rat stuff on Schoolmarm. We already have enough gapers on Schoolmarm anyway. So go do that shit on Go Devil. If you can ski/board the park then you can ski/board Go Devil.

I hate to be a dick, but if I see this and my kids get hurt or scared then I WILL pull your pass.

Help me to help you. Respect me, and I will respect you. Pass on the word.

Thanks, guys.

layin the law down i like it

i loved enforcing that shit out in ny last year, but now i have no power in breck :(

Great idea, I didn't even know that lot was free! And to piggy back on, we should all stop patronizing the slow patrol. They profile anyone with twin tips and XL pants for a reason, because all of us straight line past them and give them the finger. If tearing a green run apart makes you feel good....you might want to reevaluate. And just so you all know, the director of Vail resorts wants them to crack down like crazy with a zero tolerance policy. Maintaining the general speed of traffic doesn't apply anymore. If they think you are going to fast, they will stop you.

And Aspen, I thought only supervisors could pull passes?

Sarcasm isn't needed. I'm just saying in general. I have seen skiers and boarders being complete assholes on the mountain. I never said you were.

Yes, I can pull passes. I can even pull a pass when I'm not on the clock.

All I am saying is just respect ski school. Parents put their kids in ski school to have fun and to learn how to ski. Not get scared or injured by assholes. We already have enough gapers who don't know how to ski already.

I know you guys are good skiers. Just take it down Go Devil or Last Hoot when it opens.

If you want to play that game then go ahead.

If you all want to be dicks then be dicks.

If you want to be a dick on the mountain near kids learning to ski the mountain then be my guest... see you there.

I was just letting you all know what's going on with Keystone, and how they are cracking down.

theres a free lot by mountain house now? thats dope, i would prefer to park there just cuz then i dont have to deal with schoolmarm. i respect what you're saying, ill watch out a bit more next time.

Can you describe how any part of that 100% serious post was sarcastic? It's all true and we should all give the slow patrol an easier time.

Not everyone on this site is a dick, don't act like they are.

Some of those yellow jackets are on a damn high horse. I need to take schoolmarm to get to the bottom of peru to go home and I got stoppped for going fast when I wasnt even going fastg at all. He said i cannot go faster than the flow of traffic, I paused looked around and said... "But not one person is moving". Literally everyone was standing still. He kinda just mumbled and said slow down after that.

Sorry, this is NS. Most people on this site are not serious at all. I mean I almost got killed the other day by a park skier that couldn't actually ski and he had an NS sticker on his helmet. Pissed me off. Sorry that I took it the wrong way.

The yellow jackets are a bunch of dicks, but they are paid to just be that. Just do your thing, stay to the sides and just play it cool. Say "Hey" to them and wave. They won't really be a pain then.

See, we have to stop being dicks to them. Their job sucks, and if I had to do that to get paid I would hate my life. I've been going well out of my way to be nice to them and I've been skiing pitifully slow in the slow zones. A lot of times they look at me nod and say "Thanks man". It kind of confirms my belief that they profile the shit out of people dressed like park skiers, but at least they recognize and appreciate that I'm trying to help.

Oh ya, and the point of this thread was SLOW DOWN AROUND THE YOUNGINS! Seriously, slow the fuck down. Some of those kids are 3 years old and new to the snow. Make the atmosphere a little less terrifying for them.

Thanks, man. It does help a lot.

You don't know if one of those kids is the next Wallisch. You just don't know. If I see ya'll being chill on the mountain I'll usually wave or something. I'm in the ugly ass orange ski school jacket with a pink ECH beanie and a black helmet.

Now if we can only get the gapers and boarders to stop pushing the snow down the mountain. Holy shit. Isn't this supposed to be the West? Isn't it supposed to snow?

I love how Keystone is the most uptight and strict mountain of Vail Resorts. They just don't let up......FYI I work for Vail Resorts so I am not bias on the situations, I know Vail Resorts sucks, it just seems like Keystone is always banging the hammer. This is cool with me cause Keystone (a skatepark with snow, hard as a rock) is no Breckenridge......I hope people keep skiing the park at Keystone....

And Breck has been cinching ever closer to Keystone whether you think so or not. It's getting so gay that a lot of the guys I know who've been there for half their life are considering leaving. Both are about 1000 times more uptight than even 6 years ago, but with people hitting trees and tourist every year it's hard to blame them...

Good to see that its not just aussie resorts which are doing this.. nothin worse than seein kids get taken out by gapers. Especially by people tryin to join the lift lines n comin in to fast.
Cant wait to get over to keystone. for the 3 weeks in jan

I work for VR
I love my job
Ski instructors make all of our lives miserable
This girl needs to stop whining and threatening to pull passes on NS

Ski Instructors bring money to the mountain. Sorry, but if we aren't happy then other employees won't be happy. I personally am tired of VRI because they are screwing us over so I'm going to Copper next season, but in the meantime I don't want little kids getting hit. I'm letting people know that ski school employees can pull passes in and out of uniform. I bet you would feel like shit if a ski instructor out of uniform pulled your pass. I personally would feel pretty lame if it happened to me.

Possibly. I have a hot pink beanie, and dark brown hair in pigtails. I'm on Silencers with the black top sheet. I wasn't on the mountain yesterday.

Ski instructors didn't make my life miserable...would you have learned how to ski without a ski instructor of some sort?Don't gotta hate on people trying to teach kids the sport that we all know and love so much.

Ive been thinking about getting a POV camera and a GPS and skiing by them in my normal park set up and a regular speed, say 15 mph, and then going 25 mph is fag race gear and seeing the difference. Its really quite ridiculous the prejudice they serve up.

Which Mtn House lot is free? the one right at the bottom of go devil i assume? that rocks if its true.

no, i probably wouldnt have learned without one, but as a patroller/former lift operator ive had to deal with sooooooooo many incidents where instructors lose kids, mess up lift lines, piss off non-ski school guests, load inexperienced people onto lifts without helping and just watch them eat shit and let the lifties clean up the mess, and just generally act like snobs to other mountain employees for no good reason.
now obviously this isnt EVERY instructor, and there are definitely some great ones. all of my roommates were instructors last year and they were pretty good. the main supervisor at lionshead was my instructor when i was a kid and he's awesome. but there are a LOT who are total jagoffs, and being a big badass and threatening to pull passes on an internet forum isn't exactly giving me cause to modify my stance on the issue.

Really? Really? How much of a dick do you think I am? Most of the skiers are really nice a respect the employees on the mountain. Some of them are complete and total fucking assholes. I'm just letting both sides know what's up.

How can I spell this out? If you are going to be a complete and total douche bag on the mountain (shooting out of the trees, skiing super close to my kids, etc.) then I will be a douche bag to you. Here we go, if you invade my personal space in a negative way then your pass may be taken away. I hand your pass over to ski patrol. Everthing goes through them.

Seriously, this is the safety of the future generation. I want to keep as many people off Schoolmarm as I possibly can. We already have enough gapers already. We don't need retarded park rats added into the mix. Let's just say... you know who you are. It's quite simple actually.

End Rant.

Damn straight. HAHA! Enjoy their colorful personalities everyday, but everyday that I'm not on the mountain with kids. Sorry, I'm stereotyping.

BTW the lot is on the east side of Mountain House. Closest to Peru.

alright fine, but only because your last response was more even handed and less "blah blah blah im gonna eat somebody's pass"

sooo basically you and your students almost got hit by someone wearing baggy clothing and you come on NS and threaten to pull your pass because we're all dicks? sorry, I see your point and I agree with it, but the way you said it sounded a bit unreasonable...

I fixed it. I was bitter at the time because it was fucking stupid. Park skiers/boarders are old enough to know what's appropriate and what's not.

It's the middle of the week. Of course it's not open today. Mountain House doesn't open till Friday.

it would be sick, but look at it this way, the sickest parks all have funding cause their on mountains owned by mega corporations like Vail Resorts and Aspen. that's a big part of why its such a difficult task to build a great park without the tourist dollars brought in by gapers. best/easiest solution would be to change chair 5 on breck to a quad, move it 100 feet up the hill so only park lane and freeway can access it, have ski school stay away. or it could be possible to open a different peak and make it park only. vail kinda has that, and back when they had the open their park killed it, tho they dont care enough anymore so its just kinda poop (compared to breck, key and even beave), though never much crowds even when it was good.

Agreed that it is financially unsustainable/unpossible. But god it would be sick! I feel like the only place it would truly be possible is somewhere where it actually snows enough that snowmaking is not necessary for a sick park and where there are enough park skiers to pay for it. In Colorado those two things are probably mutually exclusive, maybe the PNW? Maybe Berthoud(500 inches of snowfall a year and close to the front range.) Short of that I think you are right that the best solution is a park that is completly seperated from ski school/beginner areas.

Echo has potential to be just like Bear...they have the same climate and snow to work with. They just need to stop hiring common street trash to design, build, and groom their parks.
BTW, I love how you make it like park rats are a bunch of hoodlums that ski out of control...when in reality, we have more control than 90% of the other gapers on schoolmarm. Even if you're making moderate speed turns on that run it seems like you're flying with all the people sitting. I ski fast, I don't fly, but I make controlled turns at a good pace. I'm not gonna pizza down the fucking run to make people happy. I'm gonna ski down it. If I ever hit anyone...it's 99% of the time their fault because they were sitting in the middle of a trail or were retarded and turned into me. I always stay off of schoolmarm, but given the current pre-season park situation I'm almost forced to take it down. There's no way I'm inconveniencing myself for fucking ski school. I pay more than most of them to ski each year anyway. So if I want to ski down schoolmarm, I sure as shit will.
Bitching on NS about this isn't going to help...instead of waving your authority around on the internet, how about you go ahead and actually pull the passes to the assholes almost hitting your kids? I never go near ski school - kids don't know ski sense so I stay away. I'm pretty sure almost anyone with a brain and common sense knows this too.
Oh, and how the fuck are people doing this "terrain park shit" near your kids exactly anyway? Maybe you're just jealous that they're having fun on the mountain and you're stuck teaching a bunch of piss pants how to buckle their ski boots.

Don't fuck with Aspen she hits like a man.
I know from experience, so don't fuck with the Dukes.
