Ask me for longboard Advice!

Alright so i'm 6' 190lbs looking to cruise around and carve/slide moderate hills not gunna be bombing huge hills but i want something stable enough to handle speed. Don't really see spending more than $150. I've always skated, and rode a short kick tail cruzer quite a bit and a drop through once, leaning towards a drop though but idk give me your advice thanks

150 isnt much of a budget...look for a supermodel complete 9ply on silverfishlongboarding.com

otherwise a complete new will be 200 at the CHEAPEST

I do similar riding to you and I'm really happy with my earthwing supermodel. I bought mine off of SoCal skateshop and I think it was like $170-$180 with Indy 215s and abec 11 flashbacks. You could also look at the earthwing belly racer if you want a topmount, which is also not too expensive.

so earthwing is a good brand to look for? just looking for any input cause none of my friends really longboard at all

Earthwing is great if youre on a budget! The comparable 150$ boards will be better but the earthwings are outstanding for their price range

Riptide Eliminator style or venom eliminator, is there much difference and what duro, I am rocking 90a venom barrels and they feel a touch soft for dh and freeride.

well they make shitty boards...with shitty no name parts...so i see why nobody has heard of them haha

6'4" 200. I am only doing slide 180's heal side. I like having a tail. I have tried some of the local kids boards and I cannot seem to ride any boards with my rear foot in front of the trucks. I take that back. I bombed the garage on my friends landyahtz a couple years ago.

im all for promoting brands bro, but this isnt the place. Take it somewhere else because, im going to give proper advice.

go with:

Rayne

Landyachtz

Original or Loaded (if they suit your needs)

Earthwing

comet

Rotule

I would call that proper advice either, you just named the biggest brands out there and didn't point out good models or even ask what type of riding he wanted to get into. But im done fucking with you, i wont post about smaller board co. on your thread

Rayne makes: The killswitch, demonseed, avenger and hellcat for Dh/rac/freeride the nemesis for Dh/Fr the vendetta for fr

Landyachtz makes the Evo, dropseed, and wolfshark for dhrace, 925 for freeride, dropcarve as well as all of there other boards for crusing/carving

Loaded tan tien and dervish for light freeride/freestyle and the bhangra for dancing

original makes the apex 37 and 40 for freestyle and freeride and all of their other boards for carving and cruising

Need i go further into detail?

Im supportive of EVERY company, but if you want to promote it make a new thread, FB, Twitter, or ad campaign elsewhere

you're damn right i dont but i started this thread to give experienced advice.

use this scenario

You are starting park skiing and you walk into a ski shop ask for a good park ski. The worker Says you could choose from Armada, Line, K2, Rossi, and some new brand they have never ridden before and have no real idea of how the skis ride, lets call them BitchTits skis.

Theyre is all these seasoned brands the worker could recommend, then theyres bitchtits.

Can they very well recommend Bitchtits to you?

Im not trying to be a dick, but on a weekly basis some kid will come into our shop with some homemade board asking if he can sell them at our shop free of charge, and is unwilling to give us one to demo. Its really a pain in the ass after a while.

i don't know why i read that whole post all i'm sayin is you should just be happy somebody posted in your thread at all instead of tryna dictate what they can and can't say.

No?

Remember Poems? Should we have been happy that he was posting stupid shit in everyones threads?

No, we shouldnt of.

Same thing here.

I learned how to front side 180 standup slide pretty solidly by now and dont know any other slides with or without gloves other than speed checks standing up. So where should i go from here what should i learn next and how? and yes i have gloves just dont know any slides to use them

hmm thats odd haha. Most people go handslides--->standies

whatever works!

With handslides just work on carving into a toeside and at the same time throw your hands to the ground and put all of your weight on them while staying in control of the board.

Colemans are the same thing just a heelside carve, and fall back. but with colemans put your leading hand down first.

Heelside standies, same as toeside...just heelside carve instead haha!

Good luck man!

thats gonna be kinda tricky to sell since its a VERY specific kind of deck (pools and tech) i begged our owner to get one in thinking it would sell quick. Never sold and ended up giving it away at a slide jam haha!

Il talk to some budddies, how much you want for it?

ive heard Kracked skulls get stress cracks really easily

for 25 more you can get a earthwing supermodel which is alot better...your choice of course

how much do you weigh and what kind of riding?

i'm 5'6" and 130lbs but still growing. i'm not planning on doing a bunch of slides and shit, just cruiring and the occasional hill bomb

a decent complete on kracked skulls is 175. a earthwing supermodel/roadkiller is 100$ a complete is 200

just curious, do you guys spend money on expensive speed bearings or not ?

i always get bones reds or something similar in price and i've always been very happy about em, speed/rolling wise i have no problem keeping up with my longboard buddies and the durability of em doesn't outweigh spending double or triple the price on 'good' bearings cause they last pretty long if you keep em clean and dry .... (modus abec 3's have been lasting me for quite some time on my second board and they still roll super smooth)

Personally i run Swiss ceramics on my DhRace board just because i won them. They do roll faster and smoother and have lasted over a year and counting. Better than reds, yes, worth the extra 120$, fuck no.

On my tan tien and 925 which i just do alot of freeride on i run Seismic tectons. theyre 30$ and alot better than reds/super reds, they rarely need to be cleaned, and roll smoother.

On my pocket knife which i ride to work/school i run super reds cause it rides through alot of water so i wouldnt ever want to run nice bearings.

Sparknotes: Get nicer bearings for race, everything else dont worry really.
