How hard is this to get into. I havnt skated before, but just wondering if it's something I should pick up for summer before dropping some cash for skates. Ill get better with practice, but just need some input. thanks

the basics are really easy to learn. just expect landing on your wrists alot. techy stuff takes major time. SOOOOO MUCH FUN though

does anyone know if I could fit a pair of size 10 jug argyles into a size 9 Remz OS4? I know people used to do that with the Remz 0803's but I don't know if the shell sizes have changed

keep at your left as you learn stuff with your right as it help a bunch when you get into switchups and doubles your bag of tricks and means you wont end up not being able to session something if its better suited to leftys than rightys, like better run in one way. i was a serious righty and had friends that were leftys and felt they got so much of a better deal than me.

After souls, I worked on learning acid, pornstars, and mizzou sp? I also recommend learning soul as many ways as you can ( natural unnatural fakie zero and true are the ways I can pick off the top of my head.) I'm still learning though so don't take my word as truth, just have fun with it.

your goal is all grinds, all ways, both feet. so... yeah.

also if you're looking for lulz, try citric acids. to see this one, get your foot in a normal acid, then try and get that same footing by wrapping your foto around the outside of your soul foot... hopefully that made sense.

T stopping, which is dragging a skate, sort of works. I've also seen people cess slide to a stop, but that eats away at your skates. If i'm going really fast and need to stop, I jump and sort of run sideways so that i'm not rolling anymore but sidestepping. If I was at hill bombing speeds... better hope theres some space.

T stopping gives you flat spots on your wheels though which is a bitch (maybe i just did i too mich on soft wheels to begin with and it completely put me off then on) the jump to side step works. Also there is a kind of pizza technique i did where i stepped one foot out and put it in a pizza position and let it roll back to normal riding and repeat it was quite good for controllin speed on a long hill without weaving (mainly for riding on the road when there are cars about)

I have been out of the loop for a while can somebody explain the birth and death of a couple of companies to me shimas skates birth? Death of b unique and 50/50? Also why the hell did franky morales stop skating for remz? He was a perfect fit.

i personally started with frontsides so I could get skiing tricks down (270s & swups) then moved to souls and mizous (mizou is when your soul foot is in front, and your non soul-foot is in back pointing away from rail). then move to acids (a soul, but you switch your non soul-foot to point away from rail) and pornstars (mizou, but you point your non soul-foot towards the rail).

morale left right after he got a new pro skate, which is weird. I guess that he just got a better contract with USD than he had with remz.

so he did a kaya then? that still doesnt answer my other questions i know shima was a part of nihm are they gone now or is it just a rebrand?

yes shima is rebranded nimhs, which are toe cut cults with different cuffs. Rattail is dead, which was the company that made 4x4 and vicious. I can't answer about 50/50.

same shell, the cuffs and toes are different. The soul plates are much better, as well as the stock liners. More of a heavily upgraded cult than just a stock cult.

if i was gonna do razors, it'd be SL's. SSM's and NIMH's are just slightly changed cults. Valos are just skinned roces, except the lights of course.

I think i'm going to do carbon mods. the liners i my carbons are meh now. basically i might strip the carbons of their inner padding and put a liner in there. Potentially the new Spec Ops, or the Phoenix liners.

i ask about 50/50 because ive got a pair of their core freestyle frames and love them, they are heavier than other frames but so durable (only pussies moan about how much their skates/skis weigh). i got them with a view of moving to anti-rocker frames after having bad experiences with mooks. I liked the fact they were a freestyle frame with a more traditional shape as i found mook like frames were just really sloppy and didnt hold you at all whereas these were based of fifty fifty's original customisation piece, the juice block making the first freestlye frames out of any flat frame. if it wasnt for fifty 50 you wouldnt have half the frame companies, as they introduced the idea of frame customisation. the core is indestructible but the whole set up is a bit of a pain if you decide to take it apart. i feel they were on to something and wondered what became of them. i can find places to still buy their stuff but nothing on the company. i will just have to stick to what ive got, og razors chaz boot dyed what used to be kelly green, white cuffs and souls, jug vent liners and white freestyles

JustinThursday has a tutorial on this doesn't he? And I know what 50-50 is, I just don't know why they stopped producing frames.

yeah the tutorial is good.

and i have no idea what happened to 50/50. They just died off like most of the old stuff. the only reason anything else is left is because the big distribution companies picked them up.

Just bumping this up because I'm looking to get into it.

2 things:

are these suitable for a beginner? They're 40 bucks, in pretty darn good condition and seem a little old but otherwise fine.

Also, what are some basics I should learn? I haven't skated in YEARS and I need to get back into it. How should I start?

Get razor geneseys; those are the brand, Rollerblade, and it is terrrrrriiiibbllllle. razors is usually the 'begginer' skate....they have the most replaceable parts and are good.

I've got some mad shitty boots for real cheap if anyone is just interested in what skating feels like and to see if they want to possibly pursue it you can contact me and pick up some cheap starter boots size 10.5

gonna bump this since i am gonna actually buy a pair of blades for this summer.

im looking at razor cults since they seem like a relatively good and cheap beginner setup. i wear size 10 shoes and the sizing chart for the cults says they run half a size small so should i get 10.5s or should i just go with 10s?

I'll sell you a pair of Razor Aragon 5s for a little more then the price of new cults. They havent been used much and I'd really rather have Valos so I want to get rid of them. PM me if interested.

Recently been missing my rb days, just sessioning my box at home or the rail down at my local park. Not going to get any blading done this summer with my knee op in late april :(

How much should I look to spend on my first set of skates? Just for messing around in the summer, but don't want something that will break fast. Also size 8ish if anyone has something for sale.

Anybody know if theese are anygood? I wanted to buy skates them from dicks because I have a bunch of gift cards.

those would be good enough if you're just starting out. I actually hear people like those.

SSM is just NIMH, which is just the razors cult shell with a different sole and a skin.
