I don't really know what the reception was with the imperials. To me, they look a lot like carbon 1 which i actually owned and while they were pretty good, there was a lot of room for improvement, which is why i now own the 2's. Anyway, it's a plastic shell as opposed to carbon so i'd imagine it's flexier (a good thing) and it has the same tongue as the carbon 2's so thats good (the tongue was a huge issue in the carbon 1's). If anything, I'd imagine they'd skate like deshi CH1's, which i also had and liked a lot. But the imperials are probably less floppy. I'd say it's a pretty good deal, I just don't really know how they'll skate.

you're a size 7 i take it?

I wear a size 8 in most shoes with a little under an inch of room so yes, i can fit it. and these would be my first skates, you know that correct?

inlining is a lot cooler than people give it credit for. and a lot harder. my first inline attempts at hitting rails didnt end well

I started Aggressive Inline skating last June and despite some bad first impressions of both foreign and local Toronto rollers I still really love the sport. I am probably a little old to be starting out (I'm 28) but that is not an excuse not to get into it. I roll alone (hence my username) and that is sometimes an issue for me in terms of constructive criticism and creativity. I did try to jack into the Toronto Roller scene in hopes that I could make some new friends and learn faster but that effort failed because I found myself feeling really awkward around a bunch of guys that have known each other for years and didn't seem like they wanted to accept a new member to their party. No loss though 'cause despite overlooking their gay ass style and or hipster mentality (a lot of these guys appear to me like they have some serious narcissistic tendencies) they weren't really my kind of people and now I understand why others call them fags. There is a function that goes down weekly whenever organized by one of the heads of this weird hierarchy called "TNS" or "Thursday Night Session", these guys skate (usually a park, sometimes some street spots) together. I don't recommend this function for a begginer because you may end up getting patronized and not really anyone would want to give you pointers on anything. Also these guys also do a lot of parks out of transit's reach and or out of town... I am a ghetto ass, I don't drive. If you are interested in seeing for yourself what these Hipster/fag/Trendies are like then by all means do so; Ask to join the Shoptask group on facebook or you can visit

http://rolltoronto.ca/ . My first pair of skates were Remz OS4's and they didn't work out too well because my feet are too wide for them, they hurt really bad after a month of trying to skate in them and I gained some weird calcium deposits on both pinky knuckles. I now skate Xsjado's and they are awesome I just wish that the baskslide plates were removable. Oh yeah and if any of you live in Scarborough area you can always hit me up for a session or even email me for any tips. Email: sky-is-the-crow@hotmail.com.

Bcos hitting street ledges to royale, farv, torque, backslide etc can really wear them down and its nice not to have replace the whole baseplate esp when youve broke in the souls

As the thread post before mine said. I do skate mainly street spots, so I do skate a lot of concrete and with Xsjado's you would have to replace the whole base of the boot when the backslides wear down. That is like 40 bucks or so. I like that you can really get a nice groove in them but as I said, they should fix this one flaw. I am also in the works of customizing my Xsjado's toe straps. I am going to have a Tailor make me some leather straps with metal clasps on the the edges of the straps. I find the toe straps wear quick, I'm not so big on aesthetics but when this happens it starts to separate the velcrow and that can be a bitch. I've heard that Xsjado will be comming out with a one piece soul, that would be a nice improvement too.

I am looking to sell my Xsjado Jeff stockwell 2's skated by a begginer for less than a month, the souls look like all they've never been skated anything then a pvc rail or just used for stalls. The footwraps look like they have only been worn in the boot. You would only need to get ankle straps because I have put those on my boot. I have been skating the Mook frames but am willing to throw those in to the right buyer. I can also throw in some Valo wheels and abec 3 bearings(barely used). They are a size 11.5 US, Red. I bought these in hopes that I could swap parts on my skates but didn't realize that there are differences in shell size. They can fit bigger feet too(they are extendable) and be worn with any flat styled shoe. My email is sky-is-the-crow@hotmail.com if you are interested.

I wear shin pads and believe me it is worth it... I know what that pain is like. Don't get some expensive fancy pants pads, just go get some regular soccer shin pads, they're cheap. Like under $15. Canadian. A good investment.

medium shell? there's only small and large? unless you somehow acquired some sort of xsjado 2.0 medium? but then the world would end i think.

i'm telling ya, they say the xsjado 2.0s come out christmas. nope, december 21st 2012, they're the event that ends the world. soon as farmer puts those things on... kaboom.

i guess he must have som sort of prototype but they're doing a damn good job of keeping it secret. unless this is the ultimate toll.

in that newish bladergang edit. if you pause at the right time on farmers part while grinding. you see cuff bolts on his skates

I think there should be a aggressive online Bst thread on newschoolers. If not u have any idea where I can find a pair of skates for cheap? I live in mt and atleast in the flathead valley we don't have any distributors. I need a 12

are these decent skates?

I got into blading a bit and liked it but from all the hate decided to try skateboarding. Let's just say after 3 surgeries and 4 months of recovering I don't really wanna skateboard anymore. I'm stoked to get back into blading this summer and this thread helped me quite a bit. Thanks

and on that note, check out this guy. this doesn't illustrate the entire point i'm going to try and make but, you can get hurt. You can't bail, if you screw up on a rail and your feet are all tangled or you miss a switchup, you're going down. worst is when you miss fishbrains, it's like instant rib rack, thats if you miss and you foot goes over the rail or whatever and you just rib rack on top of it. worst thing ever. http://vimeo.com/38857614

what grinds did you guys start with?

i have a sweet pvc rail, just unsure where to start. i've been trying soul grinds on a small curb near my house and have em decent but my rail is higher and it isn't a ledge, would that make it any different?

any and all tips are appreciated on how to do souls, and after souls where do i go?

yeee i feel you bro

i can already do normal grinds, natural and unnatural, fs 2's, bs 2's, fs switchups and even starting to learn switch on haha

i just wanna branch away from skiing grinds soon :)

Its so funny starting in rollerblading and learning the names of everything then seeing people here just using ski language. Im not say its wrong but other rollerbladers wont really understand. The term "switch" in rollerblading is generally reserved for doing things what would be classed as un-natural in skiing so spinning your non normal way is switch, doin a grind the opposite way you nowmally would is switch. Ski "switch" is "fakie" in rollerblading. Spinning on to a grind to slidin it backwards is "ally oop" spinning blind to a ally oop trick is "true spin." skiing lipslide is "backside" in rollerblading. Regular ski grind is "frontside". Spins are generally described either left or right so kind of like skiing. Pretzel isnt a used rollerblade term but I think "rewind" is used instead. Anything else anybody wants clarified?

yeah ahaha. its annoying. when im skating with my skiing buddies(which is generally most of the time) so i use ski lang. when i go other places, other rollerbladers think im strait retarded

I'd suggest learning souls and making them your goto trick for rails, and etc. Theyre safe to get out of, and nice to learn on hand rails.

After you have those locked, maybe try some fast slides, a kind grind, or even a simple acid grind. You should also learn frontside and backside royals

thanks for the tips guys

i was fucking around today just doing ski related stuff.... its fun to do because on blades its 500000000 times easier, and it'll build confidence for next season when i hit the snow.

how did you guys determine your soul foot? i normally face left to grind when i ski, so should my left foot be my soul foot?

i feel you, but its like lax, its good to be comfortable catching passing and shooting both ways, but one side will always be your better side

in relation to snowboarding which foot is your right?

cuz i've snowboarded and longboarded before and i ride regular stance aka right foot back

might as well just get some of the 2's. the threes aren't too much different. Unless you plan on getting 4's, if those actually exist.

featherlights with their according anti's. fluid 4's with whatever anti's, any of the frames designed to be used with antis will serve you well really.
