Anyone who owns a WRX

out the ass, and coppers will be twice as quick to pull you over. If i were you id look into something like a legacy gt, which has 25 more horses than the wrx, still a subaru, and more room for your shit, but is counted as a family station wagon which equals way lower insurance

yea, i really want the 2.0l turbo tho.

it would be hella fun to drive.

i would be buildin an boostin the shit out of it anyways which would make my insurence out the ass even more.

My friends first car was a red 2 door cavalier and he said he got f'd in the a with insurance. Not really sure how much it was though.

If it is new.... I would get about $250 a month.

When I was 17 had a sports car with a clean record, student discount, and only 60 90 I was paying $180 a month on my own policy. When my parents let me switch to theirs it went to $120.

Now I have a Subaru Impreza outback. I had been looking at a WRX and called to get quoted on insurance for it. At the time I was paying $185 for a GTI, the Subaru with 100/300 was only $176, the WRX was going to be $230. This was when I was 19 though and on my own policy.

Go to an insurance website, you can get a quote with out having a car.

Check like 2 or three though, cause one might be significantly cheaper. Allstate was going to charge me $174 a month and Esurance quoted me at $111.

I'm 20 and have a clean record. I got a quote on an 05 for 220/month. Im going to wait until i turn 21 so it'll drop. if any :(

jesus christ, our insurance is so much more than yours, im 18, as a male my insurance is thus rediculous. my ford fiesta (gangster) costs about $3000 a year

i'm runnin a chipped/turbo upgrade 2008 GTI with 12lbs of boost. The insurance is out of this world but the company pays for it so its not too bad. My advice is that ur gunna crash and plus i doubt u cud even handle a WRX. Jus buy summin to get u around then wen u have experience on ur hands then buy a wrx.

my wrx insurance costs like 1.5k/yr, I have a bunch of tickets, no accidents, I'm not sure off hand what my limits are, and I insure a motorcycle, expedition, boat, and house through them, American Family. So that quote is probably pretty worthless for you.

i dont know if this is just a state law, but there is a new law out saying you can not buy or insure a WRX untill you are 21. too many people have gotten serious injuries in them because of how powerful they are. like someone stated above, get a car that can get you around like an integra or something, then save your pennies and buy a WRX when you can handle them, my auto tech teacher did a STI swap on his WRX and he said he gets scared every time he turns the car on. it would be better to wait untill your older and more experience, that way insurance will be less and you will beable to handle the car better because those things are rediculously fast.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKRxHAJv6pw just to show how powerful that car can be haha!

im 16 and was going to get a wrx but allstate full coverage with accident forgiveness was 300 a month i ended up getting a 2002 BMW 525i not as fast but defenitly a better car and cheaper insurance

i dont care how rich u are you shouldnt have a proformance car at the age of 16 thats fucking rediculous, thats how people get killed.... fucking stupid rich kids..... you should have a regular car for your first... learn how to drive for a fiew years before getting somthing rediculously fast.....

yea kid get like a manual outback wagon first, it would be really unwise to have a upgraded wrx as a first car. My buddy fixed up an outback, threw a rack on it, custom exaust and some nice ass 19's custom struts and sway bars, and a paint job, it was soo sick, he punished that car too, every time he stopped it smelled like burnt clutch. lol.

wayy better on insurance too.

if you dont have good grades and are a male, dont expect a deal on insurance.

After I rolled one into a pond it was $300 a month, but insurance paid me about 5k more for my car than I bought it for, so it evened out. At 23, with no accidents, tickets or anything else. An 02 covered at 100/300 in CA on my own plan is about $90 a month. Don't get one if you are 16, I had a couple years of driving under my belt and I still shouldn't have had it at 18.

Insurance varies drastically from state to state, I think NY is highest.

get a wrx is for want, i have a lincoln ls as my first car it was my moms old car i got it right after i turned 16 i has a piece of shit that my dad bought me and my mom found out it didnt have airbag and woulnd let me drive it so i ended out good, good cars are better they handle better and are faster they make you a beetter driver and can handle more, pieces of shits understeer easy and cant handle speed, not sure what that helps

A stock wrx or sti isnt that bad as far as power goes. It all comes down to the driver not being a fucking retard or immature idiot. Alot of people get the mentality that a wrx is a "rally car" so try to drive like they are in one. Kinda like the suv "big and safe" theory

not necessarily, i mean if you do it the right way and tell your insurance company the money you put into it in case you do get in a crash then you will be paying it out the ass but to them all you would have is a stock WRX they wouldnt know that you built it up or threw a different turbo in it unless you told them

they come boosted champ. your the one with the rice eclipse.

but you don't want a 2.0 for the live of god.
i thing the leggy gt's have the 2.5. much more power potential.

also to add...if your getting a subie look at these sites, tons of info.
nasioc.com
legacygt.com
clubwrx.net

yes, but he says that he wants to build it up into a faster car, 218 horsepower is alot for a first car as a 16 year old, stock STI is 300 horses wich is alot too. regaurdless to say im attempting to buy one when leagally allowed to. as for now i have a legacy outback. But for the thread creator, stick with the subaru idea for your first car, they are very good cars and go forever just steer away from a wrx for the moment...

yea honestly like i was in the same situation as you and i ended up getting a civic my parents got it but personally after driving for 2 years now i would not get a wrx as first car...bottom line im sure ur just like every other 16 year old male out there drives like a complete idiot when they first get there license have many near death inocdents (for me drifting attempts in my dads car ended almost death luckly no damage or anythig) but when i get in my dads lexus gs that thing isnt like a rocket but in sports mode with traction off its pretty fast way faster than civic and im glad i dont have it cuase i would die in it. get something smaller first get used to driving then step it up after college cuase u only are in highscool driviing for a year or two. wrx is a sick car tho

wrx's and sti's really arent that fast, and they are extremely easy to control, you can be a dumbshit driver and handle a wrx like its nothing. yeah when people mod them into gay drag cars then they become really fast and somewhat hard to control, but a wrx anywhere close to stock is not that fast at all.

i think its that kids under age like 30 think they just bought a rally car, but there is a HUGE difference between a rally car and a wrx. in a rally car you can roll it and keep driving like nothing happened, in a wrx you would probably break some bones and your car would be totaled. in a rally car you can flip 20 times and get out with a headache. in a wrx if you flip 20 times your gonna be in pieces after like the 5th roll. rally cars can jump and take hard landings drive over extremely harsh surfaces while scraping on the skidplates the whole time. on a wrx, you do one jump or drive too fast on too harsh of a surface and your shocks are gonna be blown out. after 30 seconds, other than that your gonna bend your frame, tear out tons of shit from the underside, break off your bumpers/sideskirts etc... wrx's and sti's are nothing close to rally cars, with 10-15 grand in prep work they are.

my suggestion to the op. if i were you id get a cheap car atleast for the first 2 months or like drive your parents cars. i did this and im very thankfull, you WILL dent up your car and hit stuff for the first couple months or so while you get the hang of stuff. i scratched and dented my shitty car 4 times, then after like 4 months i was good and i bought my real car.
and if you get a wrx, please dont mod it like a fag. i see so many wrx's with cans scraping on the ground, gay bov's and shit. keep it stock atleast in the engine, if you have to mod it, mod it where it really counts, in the suspension and chassis. engine mods are for pussies. you will understand how overrated straight line accleration is compared to handling when you have a good handling car.

the sti?? its a sick car but they will charge u more even tho u have a clean record ur 16 and a guy itll b out the anus

Kid, go read that debt thread. Its called: "I have .00 in my bank account," or something like that.

what will a "cool" car gain you?

Nothing, other than some extremely expensive fun times, maybe some dumb slutty bitches too, aids whatever (exageration kinda)

That's my opinion, but it's your money so do whatever. Oh, WRX's are pretty sick cars by the way.

i have a saab, its turboed, as my first car, i plan on selling it after only owning it for a year cause its a peice of shit and breaks a lot, im probs gonna buy a legacy GT wagon, cause the wrx's are way too much to insure. but for the people who say dont get a "fast" casr as your first car. if you know how to drive then its not a big deal, my car isnt too slow for a stock car, and its not hard at al to drive.

also stock wrx's arent too quick, they can be built easily to be fast, but stock not much there.

i think the sti is pretty fast considering it has 300 + horsepower and 0-60s under five seconds stock

get a german car because of german paint. and because they all have leather and killer stereos and powerful engines, and unreal interior layouts. wrx has crappy cloth seats and a not so sweet stereo and it looks like any other car on the inside. when i go fast i want to be cozy as hell with my seat heaters on n shit.

Check that, my WRX has leather seats, moon roof, heated seats, 6 disc changer and a sub under the drivers seat. Not to mention the handling on my stock WRX is better than my modded 01 Audi A$ 1.8Tquattro. German cars = expensive maintenance. Not to mention my WRX has 55 hp on a stock A4. Turbocharged 4 cylinder comparison.

yeah germans make the best cars, its amazing how good they are at making cars, like ive driven/test driven an a4, a6, b5 s4, an old and a new 911, e39 m5, e30 m3, e30 325, and the new 335 and 135 with the tt 6cyl. its alot of cars for a teenager to have driven but my parents know cool people.
but anyway, out of all those german cars ive driven you get the same perfectly connected feeling that it seems like nobody else can do. you feel everything that the car is doing. and they are built like tanks, they arent super reliable, but it seems like they are the most solid well built cars ever.

hahaha

AWD cars are the easiest to handle man.... If it was a RWD, then yes he might crash it easily, when raining or snowing, but AWD cars are soooo easy to drive it might even be the safest for him...

But, as for my insurances, i pay 50$/month for my Civic type-R '98 and i'm 17, so yeah, they''ll be rappin' your ass to insure a new WRX.

YOU ARE TO YOUNG TO OWN A WRX..... U ENDAGER OTHERS ON THE ROAD..... WAIT TILL YOU HAVE DRIVEN FOR LIKE 2 YEARS.... A WRX IS A STUPID IDEA FOR YOUR FIRST CAR

get a forester xt.

its way sicker and you can make them super fast.

its the ej 25 the same motor as the sti

you just gotta mod it out right.

yeah I dont care what you say, 16 is too young for a wrx. How do you know you can handle it, cuz youve been driving for 5 months? You drove your friends a couple miles a few times? do yourself and everyone else near you a favor and get a 2.5rs until your 18 at least. They hold there value wll and will be cheaper on isurance so it shouldnt be a stretch to still get a wrx at that time.

dude if you have the money to buy a wrx in the first place, then dont worry about insurance prices. Cause the car isnt cheap. Im saving up all next spring/summer and buying a wrx sti myself

the e39 m5 is one of the greatest cars ever made, the new 08 135 335 535 engines are excellent with twin turbo. i drove the 535 and it is quick. Its 1 100th lower in quarter mile than the 550
