Anyone ride at PowDerHorn ski area near grand junction?

well big places. ive been to howelson hill, sunlight and a-basin in the preseason. i was going to go to woodward at copper this summer but it didnt happen i guess.
 
haha no not even aspen. you should take me next time you take greg;) haha jm they are making snow now at PH and they said they are striving to open before the 17th

thats what the blog says and weather.com says its suppost to snow the 4th 5th and 6th. that should be enough to open earlier!
 
ya dude. the blog says that they are having a meeting the 8th on whether or not they will open the tenth. if they say no to opening the 10th i'll punch a baby.
 
ya dude! its gonna blow so much though, its gonna be really packed. i hope westend will be open. also heard the park will be up saturday with a box a wallride and some other rail.
 
I'm headed out to GJ to spend Christmas with my BF's parents, hopefully we'll make it out there for some turns. I think PDub has more snow right now than Summit. How the F did that happen??
 
i might be there sunday. we set up a handrail in orchard mesa on tuesday, and all these haggard asses showed up and just started poaching it. it was waccck. they didn't even ask..

So, back in the day the park was a lot of fun...they had a very decent jump either at the top of the face on Peacemaker, or just at the bottom...around 20 feet. Their rail line went all the way down the flats and had serious flow...
I just don't know what's happened since I left, the last couple of years I've been blown away by the amount of suck..hopefully their new park manager knows what up and knows how to tell the rednecks that groom what they need to be doing. I know snowmaking is an issue for them, it just didn't seem to be 5-6 years ago. When Josh Dyck ran the park(he also knew how to groom it) the shit was sweet..I've got hope for this new guy to bring it back up to speed.

i ski PH. come in the park on the weekend and youll see me in there. any you guys doin the rail jam on new years? i cant cause ill be outa town
 
me too!!! the park crews have just been sucking to much to the point where i never skid park but this year its actually a fun park! ive probly skid more park this year than any other year before. i cant wait for some jumps to come out!
 
my friend did a mother effin 900 off the kicker yesterday. a 900!!! like wtf why even try anymore. haha.

I've really been impressed with the park this season!!! the park crew is probobly the hardest working park staff i've ever seen given the resources they have to work with, the jibs are really realy fun, and the jump line is sick, perfect for learning tricks.!!

now if we can just get something done about those lifts! haha

pray for snow, I wana float through the best tree skiing in colorado!!!!!!!!
 
SHHHH!!! I've been tryin to keep that a secret since I was 13..and in that time Sven's, Snowcloud Tree's, and what we were callin Suicide Trees(the old timeys called it Garner's Glade), have become blown out runs....P-Dub's not the two weeks-long pow stash it once was...(unless you still know the ultra secret stashes)

So what you've got to say is "those trees are too tight", "man, I just keep snagging downed trees", "the snow in there is TERRIBLE".... lies...you've got to lie.

But yes, I'm hearing great reports on their park, and another rail jam this weekend right? Let me know how that goes, once again I'm bummed I couldn't make it back.
 
oh dude i know! ive been doing non stop park runs trying to learn new tricks and stuff. i got to ride the lift up with a guy from park crew and he said they are gonna add another little kicker in front of that one thats already small. he said the goal was to get the "no invert" policy to be no longer in affect. he said next month we should be able to flip the jumps w/o getting in trouble by ski patrol.

Its suppost to snow from tuesday to thursday next week and i miss powdder!!

Anyone do that open rail jam? i was gonna enter it but i didnt have 10 $ and my parents werent there.
 
today was an ok powder day i did alot of powder runs. got to take a couple runs with stubler too. super fun day.
 
i was gonna ask the same thing. im sooo excited to hit them!!!! are they alot smoother than the last ones? and ya what he said how big are they?
 
they're prety damn small. the biggest one is smaller than the old big one. idk i'd say maybe 5, 10, and maybe 25ft if i was to guess. i wish they were bigger... i also hope to see more new rails setup. where the hell has that 40 foot flat bar been??
 
I heard that the 40 along with a ton of their other rails were in such bad shape that they had to get rid of them but im not positiveJust pretty sure
 
i know where they are storing all those rails. they should bring it out soon cause i remember seeing the kink and the box down there early season and they brought them out.

Are the jumps still on maverick? they dont sound as sick as i had hoped... but at least they have a jump line now.
 
the park crew was working on a QP today after the triple line, and they built knolls on the first 2 in the tripple so they are much better. stoked!!!
 
ummmm id say upwards of about 7 or 8 feet high. it looked like they were startin up a lip for another jump from the lift so that gives you an idea.
 
ya for sure. im not a big fan of pipes and stuff but sure it should be fun. i started learning backside twosevs out so im gonna be workin on that and 5's. its going to be sick.
 
ha no i was gonna go up for a half day today but never got around to it. im going up tomorow. heard its gonna be an epic pow day.
