So my friend and i have been doing some cork 7's on this jump and the ski patrol have come up to us two days in a row thretening to clip our passes for doing inverts. since when is a cork a invert?

but seriously,
tell them it's a dinner roll. and that it's not an invert because your feet never go over your head. just use the same argument johnny mosley used.

invert or not. them bitch ass resorts need to realise thats what a terrain parks are for. Where states do they care in? The west coast doesnt give a fuck.

why don't you talk with them explaining what you are doing. or, get in touch with the park staff of the mountain, and have them explain what you are doing. I work closely w/ the park staff at our mountain. if you do it in a mutual informative way im sure they wont have a problem with it. iv only clipped 4 tickets in my time on patrol, and it not for what the person did, but the way they react when i try and have a conversation with them.

Begin rant. calling a patroller a "f*cking renta cop" is not the smartest idea. we all have radios, and once you get on the lift... we can have the lift shut down right before you are able to get off... we also work w/ security, and they work w/ the local police, so don't blame me when you get escorted off the mountain by the cops for running your mouth.. / rant. sorry just had to let that story out about a moron this past weekend.

actually, on the back of some ski passes it says "inverts are not allowed" it kinda depends on the mountains but where im from your not suppose to do inverts. im guessing your not suppose to at yours either. shouldnt really matter though. if you fuck yourself up on a cork 7 its your fault not the mountains.

I pack a blade, ski patrol and local pussy po's aint taking my lift fucking ticket or pass, they can stop the lift and do whatever they want, but id whoop their asses if they tried to take my pass, nuff said

getting arrested for cussing at a ski patroller??? thats the gayest thing i have ever heard. there only good for helping you when your hurt at my mountain and the occasional telling at a gapper

You don't have to be a moron to be on skipatrol...Butt it sure gives you a head start !

that being said i think being a skipatroller yourself is a fine job...getting to cruise around the mountain, threatening people, playing with your sleigh, picking up chiccas @ the bar, etc...

retrieve dropped poles,

test the fresh powder before it's opened,

destroy any man-made structures in the woods,

protect would be daredevils from the dangers of inverted aerials,

the list goes on and on

yeah, skipatrol is a necessary evil...They should actually forbid ppl to go outbounds but force this law loosely...they should especially keep the gaper inbounds; you don't want an injured gaper because he followed you down some cliffs!+they bomb the really dangerous snowpacks for you!
i've been stopped 3times by skipatrol in france while ducking a rope with some buddies...each time i've explained to the skipatrol we were properly equipped, trained informed and experienced.each single time they let us go.I'm actually happy they stopped me! I could just as well been a gaper wandering outbounds, being a danger for himself and others...
so i'm glad they check ppl who go outbounds !
there have already been too many avvy accidents last week, most fatal accidents could've been prevented if they were properly equipped and trained...

the ski patrolers at my hill are about as usefull as aids!

they are these fat lards who cant even ski and go on huge power trips all the time. Our mountain isnt even big enough to be considered a mountain. Its litteraly about 60 feet under the altitude that is considered a mountain. yet these guys think they are working at whistler so they freak out when ever you dont ski like a gaper.

psshh abuse of power letting some kid hang right near the top before they get off!

that's not gonna teach them shit!

Personally it think it depends on who your dealing with.

Granted your dealing with ski patrol but if the person is an asshole more than likely they're going to take it out on you just for even looking at them the wrong way. But if your dealing with somone more understanding they'll see your way. Most ski patrol at my hill are in fact assholes

"Don't ride backwards! you can't turn as well! Turn around before i clip your pass!" so on and so forth

We actually got in trouble for asking one if they were peeing.... our language was bad. we said pee.....

I sprayed one becuase he cut me off and i really had no other choice and he tried to beat the shit outta me (wasn't having it so i layed down an ass beating) and it turns out that the guy was looked upon as an asshole by everyone else so i was in the clear.

by the way old people on ski patrol will get onto you about anything that isn't riding normally (to them anyway). At least on my hill

At my mountain ski patrol is pretty lenient. And I don't think many of you are giving them enough credit. When they tell you off for skiing switch, they have no idea whether you are a gaper or not. If they tell you off for doing a cork 7 or whatever, they have no idea that you went to Windells and perfected that trick or whatever. They have to tell you off because by doing that, oftentimes you're giving an idea to a gaper, they'll go try it and die. Ski patrol is probably one of the most underrespected jobs in America, for what they go through to keep you safe.

ski partol are fags. they arent cops. they get paid minimum wage to do a shit job. tell them all to go fuck themselves. then ask them if they arent getting enough power at home so they have to go to work and pick on people who have a life

sorry but i have to disagree with this, skiing should be an at your own risk sport not somewhere where authorities tell you where you can and cannot go. obviously people who are risking others safety should not be allowed on the mountain but when i get hurt, it is purely my responsibility and no one else's. the only reason we have ski patrols in the first place is because the u.s. is a sue-happy society and the ski resorts are required to protect themselves from any liabilities. i hate when a ski patrol talks to me because they think i'm skiing on unsafe conditions. i'm an adult and i should be allowed to choose for myself what i deem is safe and within my ability.
yesterday i got my pass suspended for two weeks by the ski patrol in breck for hiking to areas that they claimed were "unsafe." their only reason for clipping my pass was that they "were worried i might get seriously injured." well no shit sherlock, people have died on groomers before so i was aware of the risks i was taking. despite my most respectful reasoning, they would not accept simply giving me a warning. i lost tons of respect for ski patrol in general to say the least.

at vail the other day, i ducked a rope on one of the back(ish) bowls because there was a run with untouched virgin pow pow.

well i was skiing it, then i stopped and looked over down to the right and saw a guy in a red jacket staring at me, stopped as well. well we kinda just stared at each other for a minute, then i took off and he started to follow. I cut hard left and he just kinda missed me, nothing happened, no biggie.

i dont hate them, because i never get in trouble with them. from stories i've heard, they are assholes, but at the same time, i've never had a bad experience and i know some ski patrol and have talked to some that are awesome people.

this is the same "fuck the police" mentality that everyone has. in the end, you need to realize that they are there to help you. and someone said that it should be at your own risk and that its your fault, well yes, it should, but it isnt.

i was skiing some pow today and came across some ski patrol. guess what they were doing?

they were cutting a fallen branch so no one would hit it and wreck. i think thats pretty helpful

Stfu, you have no idea what you are talking about. My dad is a ski patroller and he does what he is supposed to do - help and save people's lives, especially retarded idiots like you.

you're an ignorant prick, I'm a ski patrol myself, and I can tell you it's a better job than any you've ever had. not only that you get the self satisfaction of helping people when they are hurt. not that you would ever know what that feels like. and I don't know about in the United States (because it seems like that's where you get these ridiculous things happening), but in Canada I've never heard of ski patrol telling off for doing inverts. Maybe some hills will tell them to, but we're a separate organization from the ski hill itself and it would take the narrowest minded ass hole to having a bad day to do that. and I haven't met one ski patroller yet who would. must be a US thing I guess

but the thing is your actions can hurt other people. if you hike to an untouched run above everyone, if patrol hasnt done work their it can slide and harm everyone below you. i can see where your coming from definitely though, i have seen ski patrol go way too far sometimes, but a lot of the times they have good reasons for their actions.

I think it usually depends on who the person is... There are some ski patrol at my hill that are super cool - one guy even takes random pictures for us when we're in the park. Other ski patrol, even when they do tell us off for something, they say it nicely and explain to us why we shouldn't do what we're doing, and usually it's a legit reason. I've only ever met one ski patrol who was a massive prick... the guy told us off for throwing snowballs at the end of the season at lifties. We were good friends with the lifties and there were like 5 people at the hill (my hill is literally a hill, super tiny). We were told if we threw another snow ball we'd get our passes cut...

Most of the time, they have their reasons. Be nice and talk to them about it, and explain that since your feet never go above your head, it is not an "invert."

Skiing today reminded me how much I hate the yellow-jacketed "Mountain Safety" people (not patrollers) at Schweitzer. Basically they get paid to sit next to "slow" signs and yell at people. So they're constantly on a power trip even though they're not actually patrollers. The patrollers at Schweitzer are pretty chill though.

Umm, pretty much all Whistler patrollers could give a fuck what you do, as long as you don't go into a permanently closed area. Other than that they are their to help injured people and check snowpack/avy bombing.
