People were wondering what the ANT is, but if you think about it for a second A-N-T-H-O-N-Y as in Boronowski "prO" model is like the JP vs. Julien only...not I'd give the specs but that'd be dick.

if you believe that it is a requirement for someone to know about every aspect of skiing and have skied every type of terrain, then yes, you are naive. Thee are so many great parts of skiing and many people have different preferences. Some people also do not have access to many types of terrain.Somepople may not know what skis and touring bindings are, but some people might never have been out west, so they don't even know much about back country.

First of all, I hate to argue semantics with you, but naive denotes a lack of worldly experience... believe me, I'm not unfamiliar with east coast skiing, nor with your argument: it's been posted before. Nor am I saying that kids who ski 1000ft vertical hills on the EC are fake skiers, I know not everyone has a BC near them... that's why EC kids are so damn good at park skiing. But hell, if you come on here and don't know what skins are for, you're pretty damn limited in your knowledge and "worldly experience" when it comes to skiing... I know you're from Ontario, and I'm very, very sorry about that, but don't confuse your position with that of people who camp the park all day and not only don't venture beyond it, but don't apparently have any idea what skiing can be in ideal conditions.

Skogenjake, you're really arguing with nobody... take your vacations out west. If you spend them cruising groomers and hitting tables when you could be in the deep stuff, I'm questioning your judgment. If not, good on you.

 
AR six, lets take it easy and try not to act like a hippie, just because somebody doesnt know something about skins does not meen jack. There are plenty of other ways to access the backcountry. Plus i think a lot of times EC skiers have a lot better foundation or technique for skiing because they ski so much ice.

 
Would you people get over it, I'm not criticizing east coast skiers. I'm criticizing people who know nothing about the sport beyond an extremely narrow range, and who, I'm sorry to say, make up most of this website. The Skins thing was just an example.

fake skiiers eh? well more than a few people realllly dont think that big mountain skiing is the sole basis of skiing and anything else is crap. actually most think that 2 planks, some bindings, and constricting tight ass boots really lets you call youself a skiier. not a "fake skiier". which is one of the stupidest and narror minded comments ever said on this site. you cant win this argument. there are TENS OF THOUSANDS of people alone on this site that arent the big mountain or "real" skiiers that you are. where did skiing start in america? hmm well actually it started up at a haggard ass hill in Ispeming michigan where i had a cross country meet. since we had to run that fucking hill, next to the national skiing history museum, i can tell you it isnt "Big Mountain". you comment is as narrow minded as me saying that park skiiers, mogul skiiers, or like pipe skiiers are the ONLY REAL SKIING. your like a whiny emo kid. you think you special cause you have the balls to take on a steep powdery slope. well guess the fuck what? most of us can do that. granted we're probably not as good, because werent not used to it. alot of us have done it on vactions too.

im not knocking big mountain skiing, im knocking you. park skiing is insane. 80 ft table tops and step ups are pretty fucking intimidating and so are your 15000 ft mountains. but you have no right to say you are a real skiier and we are all fakes. it didnt start here on the big mountain. so take you skins and wrap them around your balls, soak them in kerosene for a few hrs, and light them up. then you can think a little more about making intelligent responses.

Again, you're wasting a lot of time arguing against something I never said. It's all skiing. Not just big mountain. All of it. I'm not hating on park, I have Ar5s here. I'm talking about people who don't know anything about skiing aside from a narrow range of boring junk. People out west can be just as bad; Worse, even, since they actually have the option of branching out and becoming more well rounded. You're arguing against no one, like I said.

I'm being facecious... and I do feel kind of sorry for people who don't have the opportunity to ski actual mountains. Although I suppose you have Tremblant and the like if you're motivated enough. It's the kids from New York who really deserve pity.

And yet, you'd be the first to laugh at some 40 year old guy wearing a sun camo neon yellow and pink 2-piece in old rear entrys from 1979 weaving his way down the blue runs... Of course, have fun. But if you want to call yourself a skier, and identify yourself with the sport, you need to be well rounded, or at least make the attempt to go beyond what's right in front of you, because there's so much more available. This is not a one-track sport.

So far the two people arguing against me have pledged to abandon skiing entirely... I had no idea I was this devastating a debator. I think you guys just immediately got the idea that I'm ragging on you for where you live, and it's not the case. If you make an effort to push limits, and do everything you possibly can with the terrain you've got, I can't fault you. But yeah, I am sorry about the vertical out there. Damn geography. This is the 21st century, why can't we just make our OWN mountains, dammit?

I'm really glad you had a meet at some place in Michigan and learned that skiing "started there". Yes, I can build PVC rails, yes, urban is cool, and yes, you sound like a 12 year old with your "You don't have a point because no one is backing you up" logic. I'm not even getting worked up about this, and even if you convince yourself you've won this or any argument, you still sound like an idiot by virtue of the way your argue. I'm trying to do you a favour by telling you that. Meanwhile, I do feel sorry for people from NY! It's not fair to them that they have no mountains to speak of. I'm serious, it's really a shame that they have to spend all that money to go to mammoth, etc. I wish they didn't have to.
