Anorexia is a bitch of disease...

lol at my spelling of rough.

You may feel this way about the condition, but keep it to yourself please. Negativity doesnt help anyone. Im just going to leave it at that because there is no point of arguing any further.

Once again proving just how stupid you really are. Can we please read another one of your gloriously insightful statements? Pretty please?

pretty much agree with this...

when it comes down to living or dying and some people can't just eat some damn food...it really makes you wonder what the hell is wrong with them.

It's a fucking chemical imbalance in the brain. You don't pass it on by reproducing, dumbshit. OP did the right thing by checking himself into the hospital to get treatment. It's not as simple as just making yourself eat. As said earlier, it's like telling someone with depression to just "get happy" or someone with schizophrenia to just snap out of it because you can't see or hear what they're seeing/hearing. Do yourself a favor and take a psychology class when you get to college, but until then, you should probably stay out of arguments that are flying high above your head. Nice chatting with you!

but it's not as easy as telling somebody to "be happy". being happy is emotional...and if you aren't happy you can't magically become happy...however, just because you're not hungry doesn't mean you can't eat. anybody CAN eat food, it's that they don't want to. well some times you have to do things you don't want to...it IS as easy as shoving some nutritional food down your throat and that is that. i'm sorry but the more i have thought about this thread, the more i have thought about how stupid this really is.

how is what i said wrong?

i'd like to hear a decent argument why somebody with anorexia can't just man up and eat some food.

hate to sound so disrespectful but i just can comprehend it...

are you fucking stupid

they did not get married when they were 0

(this post has probably already been made)

first legit post in here to help me understand a bit about the disease...

may have to do some research on my own later tonight. i will be back with my final thoughts on this after learning a bit more...

Your username and picture get me every time, plus I'm writing an essay for Jewish history right now

Get better man my prayers are with you, ive experienced things similar, my dad is still healing from alcoholism and you think its so easy for them to just understand but it fucks with their brain

You're just an immature kid who's looking for attention on the internet. Go outside or do something constructive.

man there are some real fucking douchebags ITT.

I went through depression, it's not as easy as trying to feel happy and boom! done. I wasn't suicidal or anything, but i was in a pretty big rut for a while. I was the last person i'd ever guess to get it; I had many friends, was a future captain of the cross country team, was an straight A student blah blah blah, yet somehow it hit me. I wasn't able to get up and go to school, lacked motivation to do pretty much anything, and just couldn't get out of bed for days at a time. It fucking sucked. This was almost two years ago. I'm still recovering now, after more than a year of different drugs and hard work. It's not as simple as people think to overcome a mental illness, and it isn't about them being a pussy, too weak, and having them eventually man up to face reality (i've been told all this from even people close to me, and it's definitely not true).

Telling the OP to just eat more isn't helpful: for one thing, anorexic people can't handle having an excess amount of food in their system after they've gotten to a certain point. Their bodies aren't used to it, and will most likely reject it, causing more harm than good.

words of wisdom right here. i've gone through both depression and ocd. you cant just take a pill or stop doing what you're doing, there's more to it that that. only once you've experienced the pain of an emotional disorder can you truly understand what it's like to be in a situation like it.

Those are not words of wisdom, those are the words of a poon 14 year old. Almost everything he said is nonsense.

@.God. I've spent the whole of 1 minute using my common sense and I can tell you that eating food DOES cure/prevent anorexia.

maybe if the person wouldn't have let it get to the point where they are on the edge of life and death...this wouldn't be a problem.

I feel bad for the OP. All he wanted to do was to share with us his disease and to hope for some vibes. Then, blam, shitstor

it's not a disease, it's a psychosis. get out of your head. you act as if it's out of your control. it isn't. go outside and work up an apetite. you're probably a tiny little guy because you play video games 12 hours a day and refuse to eat. don't. go out, do something, and you will be hungry. it's an active process. you can't mope around in the solitutde of your own bedroom and hope things are going to change. go make them change. exercise and your body will need fuel.

Ah, you got us. Relax everyone, he's just a troll. We can all certainly tell that this kid has no common sense, so I don't think there's anything to worry about. Carry on.

I would seriously consider marijuana.

I take vyvanse every day (ADD medication, makes it pretty hard to eat) and smokin buds helps me so much.

Plus you get high

You are quite possibly the dumbest person currently on NS...do you not underdtand that if his body is now used to only a small amount of food? What do you think if he runs around a little his apetite will suddenly shoot up? Dont assume OP just sits around all day playing video games and "refusing to eat" , fkin idiot. You act like youre the most active person on NS , meanwhile you have 16k posts. And you tell OP to go outside more ,...

I laugh at this and the other idiot posts that I have read on here. Go read my post on page 2 and the other more educated logical posts on here. Anorexia is a psychological disorder just like depression, ocd, schizophrenia, etc. Most people who develop eating disorders that I have met are athletes-and before someone says they can't be good athletes because they don't eat, that isn't the case. If anything it helps you to start-you see top runners, ballerinas, gymnasts, etc continue to be at the top for a long time-not everyone just becomes skin and bones right away. It takes months of not eating before it really takes hold to the point where our OP is now, and it can get relatively unnoticed until the problem has already manifested beyond the afflicted's control. It's not a matter of "just eat" or "just go run and work up an appetite". Sure if you eat enough it will make you physically well but the underlying psychosis will still be there, and that is what needs to be cured/controlled.

But let's be honest. At this point we might as well be arguing about abortion or republican/democrat or religious/atheist. In the end people will think what they think, often times completely ignoring the facts displayed right in front of them, and form their own often illogical and emotionally driven opinions on the subject. Most people, I find, seem relatively incapable of seeking a logical reason or actual facts to back up their beliefs. I am not targeting you, Anathema, in this comment-this is a general observation of NS and the public.

exactly! fuck why cant people get this. if you want to recover you can, i hate to say its easy because i know it isnt, but its as easy as getting up and walking outside. its pretty much all mental, when you have nothing to do, and spend all your time moping around thats how depression and things like anorexia start. we as humans are supposed to be active, when you arent, and dont have something to keep you busy, thats when the mind starts to get fucked. shit like this wasnt a problem 100 years ago. people were busy, active, had purpose, and were more mentally tough. modern society makes it possible to have no purpose, drive, motivation, do nothing all day and we can can still get by.

yes it is not easy to recover, but the answer is very simple, if you want to recover you can, there is NOTHING stopping you from eating, being active, finding a purpose, passion, etc.. its a mental state that you put yourself into and you can most definitely get out.
