Annoying things racers do

Everyone hates some racers just as everyone hates some freestylers. But when it comes down to it both genre's of skiin will have gapers and cocky assholes. I think any freestyler or racer would find a group of people to shred with no matter which type of skiing they pursue. There are some chill people in each sport even though some may perceive that differently. I have best friends in both sports. Although yes some racers need to get educated on the culture of freestyle skiing so they don't have to say arrogant things like "can you even turn", or "why are your poles so short". Although that comment can go both ways.

You can only get so annoyed with a fellow skiier.

Cause if you see someone being a twat on the hill, atleast you can look at them and know that you both share the love of skiing. Kind of humanizes them

I do respect the racers that just have fun when they are skiing but the cocky ones and there coaches that think they are the shit is what gets me annoyed quick

When they run into you and blame u for ruining their career

Actually happened to me this season, 15 yearl old girls dad ripped me a new one in the lodge, I felt bad but this chick had her head down and I was riding the side of the trail

I think we can all collectively agree that racer parents are probably the worse, though. This kids dad was bitching at me on the chair one day about how PCMR's superpipe takes up a very small part of the racehill. They're not to stoked on freeskiings come-up, either.

So lets be honest, skiing park is way more fun than gate banging. but if you want to see why people race, look at Jon Olsson. He went from being a grade A pro park skier who gave us our first double flip, JOSS, and JOI. Now all he is is a B-A grade GS racer who spends most of his time in the Europa Cup and occasionally gets a WC start, yet he makes way more money. Racing is where the money is at.

Even though i find park skiing to be the more fun expression of the sport there is something to be said for racing and the foundation that training for it lays. believe it or not most pro park skiers and almost all big mountain pros got their start as racers. Shane raced for CU in college, Hoji was a racer in canada, and TJ Schiller was a mogul skier, just to name a few. Most of them wanted to make it in a competitive part of our sport but didn't have the size or the patience to to make it happen.

This is what lead to the creation of free skiing, taking a foundation of racing and good skiing fundamentals and adding a component of personal expression. so no matter what you do, race, park or big mountain, don't hate! go out and try to make yourself good at every part of skiing and you might see it help you improve your skills in the park or on the race course.

Matter of opinion bro. I love the feeling of slamming into a slalom gate, feeling it warp around your guards, then hear it go *fwap* behind you. Even better when they break and splinter into a million little pieces of plastic. :D

Pow beats them all though haha
