American 'Enhanced Interrogation'

its true to a degree. but be serious here. the bush administration initiated the torture. period. no matter how conspiracy theory you want to get. (im not saying your totally wrong here, rich people do control this country, no arguments there). but to imply that they are responsible for directing the torture is just dumb

too bad i've never taken a poli sci class. i go to an engineering school. it wouldnt matter anyway. the liberal arts majors for the most part suck.

I totally agree. For everyone who supports waterboarding, why dont you have someone try it on you sometime?

I cant remember when, but i saw an interview where some politician was defending waterboarding and someone asked him the question "Would it feel like torture if it were done to you?" and he answered yes. prime example.

Shocking. You've also never taken logic.

I love that... no attacks by terrorists since 911. Also, we haven't been attacked by Aliens, or the Stay-Puft marshmallow man! THANK YOU BUSH DOCTRINE!

we were thrown in work camps... not death camps. and if you want to know something, americans historically have always treated our prisoners of war far better than anyone else. in japan, american were forced to off load rice.. someone said it was against the Geneva Convention on they got blasted in the skull. the japanese would tie chinese and american POWs to stakes and use them for bayonet practice. they would also line up prisoners to test how many bodies their samurai swords could go through. they also forced men to build bomb shelters, would shuttle them in, and then roll gasoline tanks up to the entrances and light them on fire to burn alive.

the germans did treat the POWs better in WWII but they still didnt make like comfortable. the soviets raped and pillaged their way across europe and took and did whatever the fuck they wanted to do.

and then there was vietnam. VC would use kids to kill us Marines and Navy Corpsman. there are stories of american troops on patrol that would find comrades strung up hanging from trees with their heads cut off, shoved in their abdomen, and have their balls cut off and in their mouth. and that wasnt the worst.

yes, i realize the american troops did some pretty horrible things in vietnam too if you watch Full Metal Jacket or Deer Hunter you can realize this (both movies are based off of the directors experiences in Vietnam as troops so dont get into the Hollywood thing)

i guess my point is, considering the wars that the US has been in... the fact that people havents stopped giving a flying fuck about what they did to prisoners until now is pretty impressive. and honestly, they would have waterboarded or done worse to our troops so fuck them.

i say for the thousandth time. lead by example.

and my point with the camps was more that it was still wrong, and we did it because of a knee-jerk fear reaction for "the good of our country".

yeah, lead by example is great and thats the opinion many troops went into Vietnam with and they couldnt take it anymore and snapped.

but what about those guys in iraq fighting, and then the insurgents go run into a Mosque and keep shooting but we cant shoot back? kinda fucked up yes?

but in terms of waterboarding... yeah, its an interrogation technique... but honestly... there are a lot worse. i dont get why people are getting all pissy about some waterboarding.

your on a billion different topics here. vietnam? not sure what your saying...

iraq, we have rules of engagement to try and prevent killing innocent people. does it suck sometimes? absolutely.

and waterboarding is torture. countless officials have said it is. i mean we subject our troops to it to prepare them for *ghasp* torture! you are slowly drowning someone, thats torture, period.

Oh shit youre right. Im so stupid. Once 9-11 happened, the terrorists were satisfied with their destruction and decided they wouldn't attack america again so the threat of attack was just as unlikely as being attacked by aliens. They simply dont hate america anymore and are not going to attack us again, even more so now that obama is apologizing for everything about america.

Your logic is much worse.

You can't deny that going into afganistan and taking out many of the high people in al queda didnt stop future attacks or at least severely hinder their operations to attack again.

No, it's actually not even possible to be more illogical than you just were. What you did there was the most basic fallacy there is. It's like the 1+1=2 of logic. You failed. It was funny. Move on with your life, rather than defending yourself and compounding that failure.

By the way I exhibited no logic whatsoever, good or bad, and made no judgments about anything. I just pointed out how dumb what you said was without adding anything whatsoever to the discussion, which I'm going to have to say is too pointless to be worth everyone's time.

Would we have been better off without these policies? I highly doubt it, if you have been reading or looking at nonbiased news outlets, you would have heard by now that useful information in foiling a possible attack on LA was gained through these policies. Like Ben has been saying, was this the correct way to go about getting this information, and could it have been gotten any other way? I really feel like the benefit here outweighs the price, you know, the whole end justifying the means cliche. I have a hard time believing we would be better off without this stuff, but you obviously don't. If and when Obama reverses the steps Bush took to ensure national security, we will surely see what the effect will be. I can only hope it is a good effect, because no matter who is president, I'd be devastated to see another thing like 9/11 happen. I was in 7th grade when the towers fell, pretty young, and even then I recognized how horrific the deed was. Lets all agree on one thing here. Throw your parties/ideologies aside for a second and acknowledge that you don't want to see something like that happen again.

bhahahahahahahah wow.

i love how you ask how old we are, yet you claim to want to "beat the shit out of me" bring it on. your maturity is really shining through here. kudos for that!

in this thread i merely agreed with a former vice president, and i told someone i thoroughly enjoyed their joke.

i am actually a freshmen in college. how old are you? because its obvious you are so vastly superior in all things. so ide really like to know how old you are.

have i said stupid things in the past? hell fucking yes. do i wish i could re think some things ive posted? of course. but if i ever made a post like the one i am quoting, well i wont go there.

o BTW i dont really remember you EVER posting something of relevance in a political thread.

im actually just stoked you took the time to add my name to your little bitchy rant, i guess you could say that means im noticed, hated yes, but atleast you must have read something ive posted and were so enraged that you felt so obliged as to add me with their names....

you piece of shit. get the fuck out of america if u think its so evil and take ur hippy bullshit with you, ya fuck. instead of saying we are so evil, look at alot of the positive shit we have done.
you gives a fuck how we treat these terrorist, they have probably done the same thing to a mass amount of people. i dont get why we are so worried about he we treat scum. they should just be shot

lol could have been stated a lot less inflammatorily and more succinctly. I agree with part of what you say, about focusing on the good we have done, because there is, in my opinion, more good than bad. I don't necessarily agree with how you chose to express that though.

delivery dude. you gotta work on the delivery.

GTFO will NOT help to earn peoples respect, and it sure as hell wont help you get a point across.

sorry... midterms... brain isnt working... and i have some annoying people on my dorm floor i just had to kick the shit out of at the MMA ring we have at school here cause they thought they could take me. one guillotine choke, a knockout from headkick, and a armbar.

but what about the whole karma thing for terrorists... let them get tortured cause god knows they do that and worse.

i just feel like an eye for an eye is not the way to treat this. that and the whole, who is terrorist enough to torture issue. at what point are the guilty enough, and is the government positive enough that they are terrorists, that its ok to torture. cuz even worse than torturing legitimate bad guys, would be torturing innocent people

sorry wrote the statement with a little frustration.
just looking at how people, including are president say how arrogant, greedy, and mean people. why not tell them about alot of the good things we have done. we are so worried about what European countries think about us when hitler could have shit on all of them if US had not came in and helped.
back on the topic on "enhanced interrogation", i am all about a well structured justice system, but we are to soft on this idea of harsh interrogation. and thats a bunch of bullshit on how they might be innocent, they wouldnt be dealing with the fucking FBI. These terrorist that we have tortured would love to fuckin burn america to the ground, so in my opinion they are getting less then they deserve. Our soldiers are out there dying for our country, our freedom and here we are bashing ourselves on how we treat these pieces of shit

so because we do good, we should ignore evil? that seems ridiculous. look at that sunday school teacher, she probably did good, but she raped a kid (allegedly) should we ignore the rape because she was a good sunday school teacher? i think not

and as for the innocence. we do fuck up. and regardless, as i have said about 300 times in this thread, we are supposed to be the US, a nation that holds the rights of human beings above all else. its a bit hypocritical to then turn around and torture them.

ignoring evil, never said to ignore it, and you blew what i said why out of context. the teacher that raped that student in my opinion should be thrown away for life, she is scum, no disagreement. But when obama goes around the world, telling them how bad we are, in my opinion is fucked up.
and yes the US is all about human rights, and thats what these terrorists are exactly against. so i express no sympathy for them

your "national pride" is actually the American exceptionalism that got us into this mess.

no your second part. HOW DARE THIS TERRORISTS NOT FOLLOW HUMAN RIGHTS. IN PUNISHMENT, WE WILL!

haha, my mind is clouded with end of the semester shit. Finals, final papers, the usual business. Maybe I can be more insightful when these shitty 2 weeks are done and I'm out for the summer.
