Alright NS. Who has the nicest guitar?

that is a righteous setup but it looks to me like you could use some acoustic love ;)

but i realize acoustic isn't for everyone. I love my ST40 more than any of my electrics though, without a doubt

I actually have an acoustic but I was too lazy to take a pic until you posted!

Here she is!!!

1994 Taylor 8-10CE

Best part: It only cost $400 on KSL classifieds... I bought it from a woman whose husband was a country artist and had passed away years ago and she decided to sell it.

It has some small finish cracks on the top from never being humidified after her husbands death but I filled them and luckly the wood isnt cracked.

I have a Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro.... Not made anymore i don't believe...

Was bought in 1997 - handmade out of Brazilian mahogany - absolute stunner...

Good to know...I was debating between the Bluesky and the Neunabar WET Reverb:

I think the Bluesky would be better since it's way more tweakable.

ooh my strat is very very similar to yours (at least in looks) but mine has seymour duncan pickups. Fretboard, neck and headstock look like the same wood though and mine is also a blacktop.

really diggin the amp and pedal setup though! i play through a laney combo with tube preamp. i got a sick deal on it and it's natural breakup is beautiful.

BSR. you can do way more with it. it sounds better to me as well. i've sat down with the wet the thing is SICK but i don't think it compares to the strymon

i might be selling mine cause i think i need a space

my updated rig, playing the whiskey a go go on january 31st with these fuckers! Blackstars are NICE if you can dial in your tone. the sound of EL34s & 6L6s together make my heart melt. pure hard rock groove machine.

yeeeeeah nice tele! I'm in love with those guitars.

I've had an Art Lutherie acoustic guitar for years now that I really like. Plays great and has a really smooth tiger maple neck to it

Not actually mine, but I own the same thing. LTD MH 401 QM:

Running through a Line 6 POD HD PRO:

Yeah, I'm not using a tube amp, go ahead and hate. I find amp modelling sooo much more convenient. And for the record i do own a tube amp, but i just find it way to heavy to carry around and there is too much maintenance necessary. With my pod I can get anything from a beautiful jazz tone to a djent-y tone.

i used a pod for years! they definitely get pretty good tone, i just like the way a tube amp reacts to my playing.

Unfortunately, no. The DMM lacks some nice modern features, but it makes up for it by having an unbeatable tone for lead playing. A fuzz face drenched in delay blends so well it's hard to tell where the repeats start/stop, making it sound like some other kind of instrument.

I have been thinking about getting a digital delay (Nova Repeater) for rhythmic stuff...maybe after I buy an RMC Picture Wah and a reverb.

Makes sense. If you ever have the chance, try out the POD HD PRO, or an Axe-FX unit. Amp modelling is getting ridiculously accurate. If i want a dual rectifier tone, I can get pretty damn close. The only thing is that even though the tone is great, tube amps still sound more "full" in a room setting. I don't know how to describe it, but i feel like you know what i mean. More and more touring musicians are switching to amp modelers these days though...

I used to bash on it wholeheartedly until I played the new Fender Mustang III. Good lawd that thing had a good sound. Although to be fair, I wasn't able to try it with pedals...

my PODxt gets some damn good high-gain tones, and thats the model from a few years ago. Line6 is a great company. I still use my POD in the effects loop (bypassing amp & cab) for post-effects, modulations, reverb, delay, volume control, etc. works great with the controller for live work.

I stick to tubes for a few reasons though:

-power tubes sound better the louder you push them, and I run my rig very loud

-nonlinear tube clipping sounds much better than digital when you roll back the input volume

-more headroom than solid states, generally.

-they look badass

-they are loud

I have a wechter dn-8118. It is a fairly new brand but the sound is great. Also I am sort of new to guitar. I know simple songs like blackbird, tears in heaven, and dust in the wind...yet, I seem to have hit a plateau. I cannot get a teacher and do not know what to do next. How should I advance my skill level? Any help is greatly appreciated and there will be +k rewarded. Thanks.

Start by learning the major scale all across the neck. Get to the point where you can memorize relative tones across all six strings, and be able to identify the note names by ear. Once you get over this hurdle everything will suddenly make sense; you will be able to improvise solos, chord progressions, and relative major/minors. I feel learning this is what gets you out of that stage of learning songs and into a new realm where you write your own.

learn the modes, play them in intervals of a 3rd, 4th, 5th, up one down the next, 3 note groups, 4 note groups, pull offs, hammer ons, palm mute... etc

increase your speed slowly as you progress till you can do 16ths at 120bpm comfortably (keep going, dont stop modal work). that should make you very comfortable soloing (16ths at 120 will allow you to be comfortable with the majority of songs) and will help immensely as you improvise. make sure to pick down/up properly.

transcribe music by ear and learn your open/bar(re) chords

come to think of it, i didnt even look at what the question was... hope that helps.

chord cycles. learn all your chord cycles

also, I have sat down with the axe FX-ultra 2 and the new PODs. a tube amp sounds way better. although the axe is GNARLY

ffffffuuu... do waaanttas for me:

i shred on my sitar581002.jpeg

but actually my dad has a 60's Bozo acoustic that used to be in a chicago guitar gallery. i'd learn to play guitar just to play this thing, the quality is immaculate

i have an orange woodgrain 5 string, high C schecter stilleto. so gnarly for chords and it actually sounds awesome for latin stuff while still being able to do metal

and a $100 acoustic that i don't know the name of

oh. my. god. That is beautiful. Since you updated, I may as well post my new(est) guitar. I know I posted this somewhere before as well, but hey, this is more official.

aaand in the past few minutes, I have realized that I don't have the pictures anymore. So here is one that isn't mine. Swap the pups, and essentially it is the same guitar I own. Some 7 string goodness, tuned to Drop A.
