comes out to an am contest and brings home 500 cash. i think this was pretty lame how he comes out to a amateur contest who else thinks the same

Hell your lucky you've been to a comp already

We just saw snow yesterday - it came and left the fucker...

ya it bugs me when i no im going to win some bucks for hood at the last comp of the season then some pro comes in and takes it

you r alle talkin like hes makin as much money as sammy or tanner! comon he needs money too to pay the rent and the bills!!

t an

i can understand wanting the cash, but maybe he should hit up some pro comps and get better at those instead of just cashing in on am comps. he's not going to get any better by competing against amateurs.

it totally see your point but it dosent matter who hes going up against to get better or not , a comp is against yourself see how hard you can push, if the other guys suck dosent mean you have to hold back...he ca still get better at am comps...but i know what you mean.

i'm sorry but the pros need to stick to pro comps and leave the ams to their comps. i was sponsored for freeride/downhill biking, and i would never have competed in amateur comps at the same time that i was competing on the pro circuit. i'd probably get beat up.

once you're at that level, why go back?

for the 500 bucks dummy.

leave him alone. he needed cash and got it. maybe all the AMs should realize to step up their game. Alex isn't exacly a "pro" by any means if hes competing for 500 bucks. lay off.

i'm pretty sure most pro comps hand out more than $500. so why compete for $500 when you can compete for more?

well obviously he had his reasons so get off his back. sound like a little girl complaining about how life isnt always fair. get over it and get better at skiing if you're tired of getting beat. AM comps dont restrict to just kids who dont have sponsors. its an open comp.

wait was there like a category am and a categorie pro??? or was it only am? if its only am then whatever the guy's gotta make money but i dont respect people who are waaay too good for am and go in am when they can go in pro for the same comp, thats just lame

i'm not the kid who got beat, for one. second, why don't all the pros just go around hitting up am comps picking up cash? oh wait, they have a sense of ethics. it's like Chuck Norris picking a fight with a 5th grader. dick move.

actually it's more like chuck norris picking a fit with anyone but i get your point plus the kid get's all of his ski stuff free so...

i agree but its early in the season so maybe he just wanted to come out and warm up kinda. like no doubt he will be hitting up pro contest's.

im not really hating on him, but i can see why you guys would be pissed. but still you want some dough, he wants some dough.

no thats totally gay obviously hes gonna win

The Quebec just have no ethics

second place probably got a big ol' high 5

i still gave u zero karma for making this thread u tool

I guess you meant the people from Quebec and yeah that's true, just look at JP Auclair, hes going in Africa to help them, wow ZERO ethic, you don't even know what were the circumstances of the comp so dont hate on him without knowing (i dont know them either) and dont hate on people from Quebec cause you think that what godbout did was wrong, you're lame.

those little comps are so fun and you can make 500 bones i did the same thing before and godbout was second and getting jack shit, now he's taking his peice of the pie.

You guyz have NO clue at all!!!!

I mean come on, if you are a professionnal skie, your job is to make a living out of skiing right????

There arent that many comps at this time of the year where pros can compete.

How many pros did you see at freestyle.ch??? Most of the guyz who killed it last year didnt even get an invite to get there and those who went had to use their travel budget to get there.

Then you have a local comp where a local pro can compete to get some money cause he's good at skiing and that's actually how he makes money, by skiing. Why should he wait for someone to invite him for a chance of winning 10g when he can compete and if he's actually better then the rest of the field get 500$.

If your a real am then you should not even be competing for money anyway right??? amaters are not supposed to make any money out of their sport, just trophys and award. And then, how would you decide if someone is a pro or not, do you even know how much money most pro's are making???

The way pro skiers makes their money is by competing and winning comp. If there's a local comp where you can make decent money there is no reason why you shouldnt compete in it. Ifthe best skiers are not competing there is no glory in winning.

I've been hating on for comeptin with amateurs but what you guyz seem to forget is that these amateurs will end up being the pros if they have what it takes. and part of what it takes is being just as good if not better then the one who were pros before them.

Ced's got it! if your winning CASH or any MONEY from a comp, it is NOT AN AMATEUR COMP! You are considered pro if your taking home cash in any competitions for any sport.

Cash Rules Everything Around Me

C.R.E.A.M get the money

Dolla, dolla bill y'all5

thank you wu-tang clan for that brilliant advice

o ya, Money over bitches

what about bitches with money????

anyway, I,d have tosay that eating ramen isnt fun and pro skiers shouldnt have to rely on that to survive. Definatly not Godbout case but yea you should know whatI'm talking about....

I thought it was hilarious when Steele Spence showed up at the Gravity Grail a while back. Cool that he came out for the comp but at the same time it was kinda wierd to see a "pro" competing against a bunch of East Coast up and comers.

final post in this thread:

I'm not even sponsored anymore, and i still get hate for showing up at AM biking comps (btw even the smallest AM biking comps hand out cash prizes). so maybe i'm a little biased against pros competing with ams. either way, i still think it's pretty lame to steal the spotlight from kids who aren't sponsored so that you can make a quick buck. maybe Godbout needed that cash, but i don't doubt that some of the ams in that comp needed it more. my opinion of this situation might change if hear of more pros showing up at am comps because they need the money, at which point i would wonder how ams are ever going to get any recognition.

it would be nice to have heard that Godbout showed up at this comp and some kid with no sponsors beat him, but unfortunately that didn't happen, so all these amateur kids are gonna have to wait for the next comp, and hope that a pro doesn't show up at that one.

i just don't think it's good for the competitons that pros can show up, knowing they will wipe out all the other competitors. it would discourage me from competing if i knew that i was going to get my ass kicked every time by somebody who is already getting paid to ski because they are that good.

i know that at the AM biking comps i go to now, i get people coming up to me and telling me i shouldn't be there because i used to be pro. like i said before, if i was showing up to AM comps while i was still sponsored, i would probably get beat up, not to mention i'd feel like crap for knowing i was going to win from the very beginning (there's a reason pros are pros). so if the worst Godbout is gonna hear for it is a thread on NS, then i guess skiers are lot nicer than bikers.

I kind of agree because I had the same problem last year.I know they need the money but I mean look, the kids who are trying to win the money use it for new skis, outerwear, goggles whatever, but you have some pro skier come in who has all of those sponsors(goggles, skis, outerwear) and totally kills it.I have no idea who this godbout kid is and do not know who he is sponsered by but i just don't like it when people do that.

ok, fuck all of you who are bitching at "pros" for competing in am events.

seriously that just gives you a better chance of making a name for yourself or getting noticed, if you lose, you lose, if you when you beat someone who already has a foot or there whole body in the industry and its just going to make you look that much better. Get better at skiing and it wont matter, him being pro is nothing its just a title, he is just better at you than skiing. thats like getting mad at someone for entering a comp when he has trained to be good and because of that he is better than you.

again fuck you guys.

and ced, of course money and bitches are always welcome, its just when your knee deep in the game pimpin hoes you gotta look out for your ends yanadadamean?

last time i checked $500 is a good amount of money, no???? I sure as hell hope someone good would show up and try to get a piece. Just b/c you think someone is pro doesnt mean shit. most of the time they are broke ass ski bums.

You put 500$ up for grabs and I really don't think you can complain that good skiers can show up. That's a significant chunk of change..

what a good argument....

like hes a sick skier its just that its the year kickoff in ottawa and alot of the ppl who didnt get all the opertunities to travel around the world and ski for a living try hard and really look forward to that, like all im saying is i realise that hes a pro and got there by training and stuff but it would have meant alot more to someone else than it does to him, but then again judging by his response to this thread hes a douche and wouldnt care

I would have been stoked to compete in a better field and see people better than me throw down, but maybe I'm not into it for money yet

What am bike comps are you talking about? around here your lucky to get a t-shirt or a tire if you podium.
