Agressive Inline Skating

This brings me back many memories of blading, I found my old blue and yellow Senate backpack the other day & decided to order Roces Jansons skates becuz the plastic on my old pair of K2 Fattys fell apart

Ok

Which should I get

The aeon 60s or the aeon 60 Lomax

Only difference is color. Lomax ones look dope. If you have parts you still wanna use you can just get the aeon 60 shell which is the carlos pianowski version

I refuse to accept your opinion because those dudes got style for miles, I doubt your local friends can make it look that easy (not to hate on them but they ain't Alex Broskow). Although you're actually a blader and I'm not so I will respect your opinion. Overrated or not it's still my favorite blade video just for the aesthetics, the Kelso brothers filming is unbelievably well done.

I haven't watched much blading but I know there's endless street videos that blow fishguys way out of the water in terms of technicality and huge tricks, especially shit from Chris Farmer- the local Minnesota hero. I actually saw him out hitting a handrail while driving around this winter in Duluth! Didn't have time to stop and say hello unfortunately... but the dude is an absolute mad man for keeping the street game alive in the brutal Minnesota winters.

I'd like to pick up blading but I'm not crazy enough to take slams on concrete. I'll stick to slacklining and mountain biking for summer hobbies in the meantime. Keep it up with the blading, shit looks fun once you got the basics down.

Chris Farmer needs to just buy some skis instead of running up to rails in the snow. Imagine him in the terrain park wearing his leather jacket and skinny jeans and then he just CRUSHES the rails lmao.

If you don't wanna injure yourself then just buy kneepads and slide gloves (downhill slide gloves > wrist guards) and send it in the park...you don't need to go very fast either to learn grinds and stuff.

1mm of rocker so you can turn easier. Probably still ok on jumps if you have flat profile wheels, which basically all 58 and 56mm wheels are

Turn easier for sure and eurathane makes a great shock absorber too so gaps feel a lot softer and more solid

14024513:buyfulltilts said:
Btw I modded my Featherlites to fit 72 antirocker and all around it feels about the same as the Oysis so idk which one to go with. Just gonna leave the Featherlites on there for now

A good setup. I skated 72 with 56 in the middle and it was a really fast setup but they were less maneuverable. Then skated 72 freestyle and that was a lot of fun but turns suffered a lot from having a wide wheel base but I could grind anything and roll anything and it felt solid

14024522:BrawnTrends said:
I get that, but bigger wheels on the inside?

Bigger wheels on the inside yes !

Feels amazing cause the inner wheels absorb shock with every stride you take and landing you make.

Got a wide grind space and way more maneuverable than a typical flat set up.

If you ever roll over a crack or bump head on with your front or back wheel (major perk is not ever feeling like my back wheel will stick somewhere landing fakie in gaps) it kinda just gets bypassed and your bigger middle wheels take care of the rest.

Transition is amazing cause the profile of your wheels inside the frame makes a U && matches the sweet spot on all obstacles and you get more contact with the ground while pumping leading to more speed.

You could run a bigger split like 59 on inside and 56 on the outside && you don’t need to worry cause the wheels break in.

My other setup is a carbon fibre boot with 8X110 mm wheels and Swiss ceramic bearings

Decide to get back to bladeing myself. Though growing up in the 90’s gave it a shot just yesterday...let’s just say I need to invest in an updated set up...my blades have no support and the wheels are deteriorated. If anyone can give me some advice on brands that won’t break the bank but will get me progress on aggressive blading and off season ski practice that would be great!

Razors Loca. Especially made for the bladies. For smaller feet and a smaller tailure. And Razors is an awesome Skate Company ??

Roces m12 tend to fit women pretty well due to the narrow shell. the souls are pretty narrow too, but definitely an affordable and sick skate. they have my favorite backslide groove out of all the boots ive had. THEM skates def wont break the bank either but they only have 3 sizes.

Im hoping size 9 Roces Jansons would fit me, I skated in size 9 K2 Fattys as Im close to 8.5. I think I should be OK.

Try rockering your wheels

I've been a rollerblader for almost 20 years, off and on. I used to do big ass drop rails and fakie 720 giant gaps, 10+ stairs, etc. It definitely helps a ton, IMO. The balance, the balls, the composure both off of jumps/cliffs and in the air, and landing....all are related. Just look up Chris Haffey skiing...there are some clips of him on skis for the first time and he's hucking 7's and rodeo 5's and shit...

Haven't for like 4 years but I still keep up with it and watch videos every day! Gonna get some new skates soon for surrrrrre. I'm outta shape and that's about the most fun I can think of in terms of getting in shape.

For real - you might want a pair for park but consider trying out rec skates for strictly fitness

I just caved and bought some wizard frames secondhand. I'm about to be the fuckin Duke of cloutingham as soon as I get my shit set up

hundos. I want the 110s though so if I like these I'll probably flip em and try to get a new pair

I'm gonna throw them on unnaturals. I'm not sure how the soft ass souls are gonna work with them but Todd skated the same setup for like all of 2015/16 so I think it'll be usable at worst

Oh wow okay you’re gonna get stronger ankles on those and souls would make it stronger imo but I don’t know how many makios you do cause you really don’t need to be higher off the ground

idk man, the souls on unnaturals basically are the bottom of the boot, there's not much height difference esp. compared to like, cults or m12s. I had r100s on them for a while and they felt pretty good, but I never really charged on them enough to notice any soul/frame interface weirdness. I'm a little sus though because when you lean into a soul on unnaturals you can literally feel the plate flex underneath your feet. hopefully the little recessed zone where the frame goes is a little more rigid

Hard for me to imagine skating anything other than an aggressive frame on those boots you mention. Carbon boot means no flex under foot && most direct energy transfer

As long as your ankles feel safe you can skate any boot though

unnaturals are like, top 3 stiffest boots on the market lol. ankles are not a problem in them

What are some names of people at the forefront style wise right now?

The mushroom blading stuff looks like instead of removing some of the goofier aspects of inline skating, they've full on embraced it. In my eyes, there is a bit too much figure skating influence or something, if that makes any sense. Which is fine, but I personally don't think it looks the best.

I really like what Bobi Spassov is doing. Everything is smooth and fluid, skates with so much flow.

Totally agree with you. I'd say my favorites are Roman Abrate, Yuto Goto, Bobbi Spassov, etc. are at the forefront now. Some of the vets have been continuing to kill it regularly (Broskow).

Fave atm is Sean Kelso

Kelso bros are still killing it. I think someone already posted fishguys3 in this thread, definitely worth a watch. all of Sean's projects are jaw droppers without a hint of kookery, just straight hammers all the time. some more faves that come to mind:

BANK LDNhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIn9piY_UU4qD9zDVb6GSug and

FTShttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO9CB0t98gl8w7azJTTn3Ow and

dirtboxhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX4ILqGBxlF6YHiZKHEqspQ have some pretty serious edits up on youtube right now,

Collin Martin does weird shit in a really easy to digest way, really accesible even to non-bladers. the stuff he does doesnt look hard until you try it and then you realize everything he does on camera is like an 8/10 or higher difficulty

Danny Beer just got on THEM skates and has a really unique style too. fun to watch, you can just tell hes having fun every time he puts his boots on.

Not sure what type of skating appeals to the masses but there are definitely some guys who go huge which you should take a look at if you’re reading this

Matthieu Heinemann

Chris Haffey

Beat Schillmeier

Carlos Pianowski

Haffey is arguably the best of all-time for his combination of huge and tech. Some other guys who come to mind, if we aren't just talking new school:

Brian Aragon

Alex Broskow

Brian Shima

Early till mid two thousands brought up the best.

Franky Morales

Chris Farmer

Eric Perkett

Dominic Sagona

Iain McLeod

Dustin Latimer

Mike Johnson

So many. Honestly I am not a fan of this "new wave" which came up from 2008 till now. But for creativity i would say Kevin Yee did all this new stuff before anybody else

Oh shit I just realized I skated and talked with Collin last week! He's in the Chicago community.

I'm bad with names so I only recognized him from the video.

Freestyle frames are interesting - but really hard to skate anything but ledges. Their a little less shock absorbant too (takes it out on your legs)

I actually prefer aggressive inline to skiing sometimes due to the fact I can just throw skates on and go - but no doubt it gets painful sometimes as asphalt is less forgiving than snow

the only person ive ever met who actually rides freestyle frames was this bespectacled dad who came to a sesh and tried and missed a soul grind on xsjados maybe four times and spent the rest of the night talking to people in between their tricks

Street skating has always been really high level and it was ritual to take it up a notch. For all the guys mentioned in this thread there was a heavy influence from Dustin Latimer.

Any mind game video showed different progression from the whole team

It was very raw and now a days it’s seen refinement...

Rollerblading is what started X games && was a real spectacle and the original reason that all other extreme sports afterwards gained so much traction. Marketers saw the opportunity

Great points, guys. Yes, those early 2000's guys were insane. Murda was certainly one of my favorites, and anyone on the Mindgame team...Omar Wysong, Jon Elliot, Dustin Latimer....so many great memories of watching their videos.

Home skillet let me borrow his blades while mine are currently being shipped and holy shit, soo fun. If you just started getting good at skiing then get blades right now. Craving skiing in the summer buy blades. Hella people fuck with them and think it’s sick that it’s coming back but I’ve also got a lot of hate from skaters, the scooters love it. Shit is scary but once you start it’s dope as hell.
