Agressive Inline Skating

Actually it takes a pair to start and you still getting a pair

You're learning to commit to basically the same tricks as in skiing, it's great

Haha no chance there is the same tricks... other than foam pit, seeing a skier rollerblade is painful to watch

All you guys wanna do is frontside 270 out standing up like a pencil holding imaginary poles

.. and then talk shit about blading

Ok lets talk sizing. What size shoe are you compared to what size are your blades? I’m an 8 in ladies so I’m not sure what size to buy in blades. I can handle the men to women’s ratio but do blades really run true to size on shoes? No shops around me carry them to try on so I gotta but online.

Depends on your level of send I guess, I bet someone would throw down a flyout cork 7

Might be. But landing is pretty different when you don't have 180cm under your feet. Skis help you when you land too much backwards. On skates you have to be very precise on jumps...

Honestly, I want to see some skiers trying out blading. Like Henrik, ABM, Jake Carney. And of course not into a foam pit.

Oh yeah for sure you have to land perfect on blades otherwise you're gonna slip out

i downsize skates a little less than i downsize ski boots. most people buy skates in the same mondo length as their feet but in my experience that leaves wayyyy too much room in the front and i always come out of the heel pocket. i have no idea how people do it. im in a full cm down from my mondopoint measurement.

shoe sizes are fake dont even look at them

look online for specials in a size 6 or 7 (men’s) / no doubt you’ll find a great deal

we talking skiers then definitely never unless foam pit

There’s one skate edit from Brian Shima skating with b dog doing alleyoop souls and with dollo doing foam pit dubs / both definitely got the ski style on blades and doing really safe stuff

No sponsor wants their riders in danger and slams on concrete are dangerous.

My friend had a harmless looking spill one time when we were skating this rail with 6 or 8 kinks in it and he almost died of internal bleeding

Look up mondo points. You can find them on like Rollerwarehouse. THEM also has a size chart.

Thanks for the motivation guys! Got a new pair of SL Mints in yesterday and haven't taken them off since. Felt a bit unnatural at first but that's expected after a 17 year hiatus.

Joe is the best park skater at the moment. He quit skating for Roces after winning Winterclash because they nearly cut his paycheck.

I mean you win 5000€ for winning a ski contest and winning 500€ for winning the biggest rollerblading contest... You cannot make a living with rollerblading.

Oh yeah, Dom West is a master. Check out Vine St. on Vimeo

He actually quit because of a 25% non-negotiable pay cut. For the best in the world. He started a controversial GoFundMe for his career after that and apparently he's working in a chip shop. Pretty sad that such a skilled person is working a menial job like that. Jon Julio also almost ended up working at the post office after Valo died and he was unsure about THEM skates.

Congrats for learning that trick.

I like how there's actual skating outside of the park in that film too though - bombing hills, bombing hills switch, zero spinning that pump track thing all with style. I feel like that type of blading should also appeal to people on this site because the analogy there is when you're skiing the mountain instead of the park.

Checked out some other Dom West stuff. Very cool, especially visually.

Seeing blading in a positive light is seriously taking me some time to get used to...

Nice job on the pornstar I was doing em switch and regular to TTP and was hype on that so I know the feels!

Out did a trick I was working on the other day on the same obstacle since there were about 8 bladers at the park and it got me really stoked

Wall ride gap to alleyoop soul gap to zero spin wall ride haha also been messing around with 270 backside backslide to revert alley oop makio

Yeah really bowing your knees out on a mistrial or misfit is classic. Reminds me of Dre Powell in the old Razors videos. Also, we always called topside mistrial 'overpuss.' You ever call it that?

misread this as "blowing your knees out" and like, thats not wrong honestly

also what the hell is a misfit? i see it all the time on the internet but ive never heard someone say it irl or seen it on a photo or anything

Never understood that too. But pictures it looks identical to a mistral.

Bet it's like:

Full torque/ Fahrvergnügen

Topside/ farside

Fishbrain/ topside Makio

I think it might be like, fakie top mistrial? like how a fakie top mizou is called a kindgrind

Yeah you're right. Just watched A-Mall trick tips

He explains the misfit and it's an fakie topside mistral

Does anyone inline skate during the off season? I just picked up a pair of skates and it looks really beneficial to practice rail tricks on skates in the summer then go to skis in the winter

**This thread was edited on Apr 3rd 2019 at 10:24:10am

I skate a bunch every year. I love to skate it is my summer ski season.

Been blading close to 25 years. Took up skiing this year for the first time because I moved to Vermont. The first day I got on skis I couldn't believe how it felt exactly like blading. The motions are almost identical. I find it funny how so many skiers skateboard and how many bladers snowboard.

So true Homie!! I was saying that to A freestyle coach at SMS the other day.

It really is amazing...I've always wondered why so many skiers skateboard...and then also so many rollerbladers snowboard...I'm like wtf?

Haffey might do something along the lines of a cork 7 on concrete...he has done a ton of misty and bio 5's over crazy shit. Broskow used to go huge w/ bio 5's, too.

Yes these are bladers doing bios - I said no skier would ever attempt that (the bails are just too harsh)

Same as no skier is ever gonna fakie backflip down a 12 set hahha

Never seen any other sport in existence where guys who’s sport is hated by its closest relative (SKIERS).. gets zero recognition from the mainstream media unless it’s slander && take the worst physical punishment for such an absolutely abismal monetary return hahha

Ah yeah, I gotcha. Very true. And to your last point...isn't that crazy? I mean skating and skiing are so similar in basic movements that it's almost comical how people don't consider them related at all.

There is no comedy the way I see it

Will refer to myself for a moment - Absolutely no skier can relate to me as a blader person. Me being an individual who throws themselves 180 over bus shelters, grinding drop rails 3 stories high, back farv 450’s off on industrial size dumpsters etc. for zero dough, zero street cred && zero upsides whatsoever for so much as self-identifying as a blader let alone actually doing the damn thing

I can just never love skiing the way I love blading...

And all y’all skiers talking bout coaches?? Can’t even begin to wrap my head around the concept. Big circle jerk by the looks and sound of it.

Fuck that - all I got was years of being the youngest blader and being hated by 99 percent of skatepark patrons... having boards kicked out at me on purpose right before a trick... people out right yelling they’re wishing for me to fall and laughing when I do... being attacked by older dudes who can dish it but can’t take it when exchanging insults...

it’s not for the weak of heart && got me hella desensitized to people acting toxic towards me... we all know how the average men react to being called gay

Anyways just my two cents to give you my perspective on things /

One does not simply get good at rollerblading when there exists a culture that makes it okay to torment and dehumanize people just for their preference of wheel positioning...... but maybe because of the estrogen in the tap water that’s changing...

Totally true....good points. Rollerblading is such a big part of my life, even though I haven't put any on in almost 4 years. People just don't understand, let alone respect, anything about it.
