Agressive Inline Skating

Does anyone inline skate during the off season? I just picked up a pair of skates and it looks really beneficial to practice rail tricks on skates in the summer then go to skis in the winter

Fuck the haters bro. Been blading aggressive for 2 years now consistently and can personally attest to it helping out my skiing. Definitely invest in some pads when you are first learning, but I urge anyone to give it a shot. There is still a very core, Vishnu-type of population (mostly in their late 20s - 30s) that are still blading. We out here in CT filming daily @tallboyzbladeteam

i blade more than i ski nowadays even in the winter in salt lake. shit is dummy fun, im a total tech nerd too so if you ever want to chat about gear or setups or whatever anybody hit me up.

as far as rail tricks, honestly gripping a rail on skates is pretty different from skiing. even without putting your boot down and an anti rocker setup its a pretty different feeling. but learning to grind ledges on skates makes grinding on skis feel like riding a tricycle. so much more is possible its crazy. i feel seriously limited when im skiing the park now, i spend more time filming park or chaunching groomers than i do riding park.

see if theres a local blade group on facebook and join its so worth it. chances are there is at least one former pro who still skates near you if you live in a big city. everyone who blades nowadays is like 30 and has kids its awesome. tl dr go to a skatepark and fuckin throw down asap

lol i havent ridden a pair in 3years

This is what I like about bladers / when they haven’t touched skates in over 1000 days and still get hyped about how they used to blade.

Still kinda bummed that the majority of people taking about skating it is in the past tense.

Honestly I don’t know what you skiers are doing walking on concrete any months of the year other than winter when you could be rolling....

Skates on my feet and I feel like I’m looking at steep descent of fresh foot of powder everywhere I go

Keep skates on me at all times brah

Oh and one last thing - royale is the best feeling grind of all grinds in any sport hands down!!!

Have gone skating many times for a chill sesh and only do frontside and backside royales

very true

I once saw a dank blade edit that included a urban kink that I wouldn’t even dream of hitting on skis, dick squeeze tricks that would make even Andy parry tremble, and a triple backflip

To me it's back full torque

Sorry, but full torque is bending your legs in the opposite direction.

Royale > soles in grind direction

Full torque > soles in the opposite direction

ABM is doing it in his X games real ski on this rainbow thing.

I know, I’m saying that to me back full torque is what feels best.

Sorry. Yeah you were right. My English is rusted, sorry mate...

And now, i totally agree with you ?

Full torque /Fahrvergnügen and pornstar were the easiest tricks for me

try out skating too man. I inlined for a couple years and it was fun but I lost interest quick. recently I picked up skating and I've been absolutely loving it. shredding bowls, rails, and doing flouts all just feel super natural from skiing

The complexity of grinds on blades completely ruined grinding on skis for me. Who cares about a double swap when you could do a double switchup? Both are super fun but honestly blading is cooler to me with the infinite grind possibilities. I picked it up a few months ago and I‘ve been super fascinated by it, love doing it as much as I can.

Hell yeah, I actually agree 100% homie. I think the infinite possibilites of blading between the different grinds, topsides, AO/truspin tricks, and all the new wave shit on the blading side makes it just as an exciting time for people like ourselves to get in. What setup y'all rockin? I'm riding a black pair of USD Nick Lomax Aeons. Switching from antirocker to flat was where I saw a HUGE jump in my ability level and which felt more natural (like skiing).

TLDR - blade or die. Or dont...whatever

Those were the easiest grinds for you??? I can’t even figure out how to get my feet in the pornstar position. The easiest one for me was def miszou. Acids are also coming along cuz i’m getting really used to my soul plate

I’m riding Razors Genesys with Oysi frames 72 rounded outer and 58 flat inner

You can do an Acid but not a Pornstar??? That's way more tricky in foot placement and angle.

Acid was the harder for me than a Pornstar ?

pornstar is super easy as soon as you figure out how to put your shoulders into it. turn towards the ledge like a front unity, that lets you put your back foot on the corner of the ledge and really lock it. I see people doing pornstars by just dragging their toe behind them and it looks like shit

what size foot u wear? even if you have big ass feet i would STRONGLY recommend throwing 60s on the insides of your oysis. rocker really changes the way you look at a park. so much more is possible

The middle wheels on my Oysis touch the ground fine even when unweighted bc of how the outside ones have worn down. Plus I’m doing something called the “magic rocker” which is when you run flat profile inside bullet outside. Allows you to be on only the middle wheels when on edge. TL;DR I’m fine and the rocker feels great.

considering doing big wheel antirocker tho considering how much I like grinderblading.

oh nice. im running 58 outsides, anti in 2 and 60 in 3 right now for a trirocker grinder setup and its way fun

60 antirocker setups honestly sound awful for rolling around. Maybe I just suck at pumping but even my Oysi setup feels not fast enough sometimes. I’m fixing to get Slimlines now and run them antirocker with big wheels.

Will probably just try using my Featherlite 2s for a couple sessions and see if I like them now that I can actually pump transitions.

quite the combo

Got a heavenly wheel set up right now

58 on the inside 56 on the outside 88a

Well this is a nostalgia trip, having been a blader from like 1995 it's rad to see new people getting into it and getting creative on set ups.

Blading definitely made me a way better skier as you have to land bolts every time, no tails to support you if you get wonky!

14024490:BrawnTrends said:
How does that work? I'm an old school blader (late 90s/early 00s) and I've never heard of all those wheels combinations

1mm of rocker so you can turn easier. Probably still ok on jumps if you have flat profile wheels, which basically all 58 and 56mm wheels are

Btw I modded my Featherlites to fit 72 antirocker and all around it feels about the same as the Oysis so idk which one to go with. Just gonna leave the Featherlites on there for now

I get that, but bigger wheels on the inside?

Yes, so that it's rockered like an ice skate and you can turn more easily even if you're running four wheels with flat profiles

rockered skates are the future man. I even have a rockered 4x100 setup. if you want to watch some high level kooky shit look up mushroom blading, they're really pushing the envelope of what you can do with wheels on your feet

Leon's section in Big Wheels 2 changed everything.

This is relevant. Fishguys 3, the sickest blade video ever made in my opinion. Perfect fisheye filming and perfect cutting to some sexy remixes of rap songs.

That movie is overrated cuz a) fisheye makes even basic shit look cool and b) like half of that stuff the local dudes I blade with can do. Yes the one footed switchups are insane though

I refuse to accept your opinion because those dudes got style for miles, I doubt your local friends can make it look that easy (not to hate on them but they ain't Alex Broskow). Although you're actually a blader and I'm not so I will respect your opinion. Overrated or not it's still my favorite blade video just for the aesthetics, the Kelso brothers filming is unbelievably well done.

I haven't watched much blading but I know there's endless street videos that blow fishguys way out of the water in terms of technicality and huge tricks, especially shit from Chris Farmer- the local Minnesota hero. I actually saw him out hitting a handrail while driving around this winter in Duluth! Didn't have time to stop and say hello unfortunately... but the dude is an absolute mad man for keeping the street game alive in the brutal Minnesota winters.

I'd like to pick up blading but I'm not crazy enough to take slams on concrete. I'll stick to slacklining and mountain biking for summer hobbies in the meantime. Keep it up with the blading, shit looks fun once you got the basics down.

Been blading close to 25 years. Took up skiing this year for the first time because I moved to Vermont. The first day I got on skis I couldn't believe how it felt exactly like blading. The motions are almost identical. I find it funny how so many skiers skateboard and how many bladers snowboard.
