you know what REALLY grinds my gears.

AE/HOLLISTER/ABERCROMBIE and people that think they need to wear that kind of stuff to get girls, and vice versa.

I don't know if its just me but when i see someone wearing those brands i see someone that is weak and easily controlled by the media and peer pressure. People are turning themselves into these giant "preppy" billboards by wearing this kind of stuff just cuase some kid on the OC was wearing that stuff.

I much prefer seeing a girl that actually shops for her clothes and wears something else then every other girl who just went to ae/hollister/abercrombie. I swear this week i saw at least 50 girls wearing the same pair of shorts, when i asked one of them wear they all got them from they said they were the new shorts @ abercrombie. I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE LETS BE ORIGINAL.

About a year ago i made a desision never to spend my money at one of these stores again, t-shirt for 25 dollars doesnt just seem like a great deal for me, and its not like im buying this t-shirt to support a core skiing company or someone that needs the money. buy spending my money at abercrombie/ae/hollister im only making the RICH RICHER.

I guess im kind of on a Boycot of these stores now. The only places i buy my clothes are the local skate shop and d-structure. I much rather support these smaller stores and companies and lets help the people that need to grow grow.

THIS HAS BEEN MY RANT/ if you shop at these storeies please post why you do. I seriously want to know. maybe im a grumpy ass hole maybe im not. EXPRESS YOUR OPINION!

i know a ton of kids, mostly girls... will do whatever is the "cool" thing to do, and i agree with wat u said

but not everyone that wears that stuff are tools
 
i made the same "vow" i gues you could call it when i was in second grade. i havent worn abercrombie, AE, hollister, aeropostale or any other of those brands (names are escaping me) in my life. not once. and im 14 right now
 
I like their stuff, some of the clothing looks good, it feels comfortable on me, that's it.

So what do you make of the millions of folks wearing Quiksilver or Levis or brands like that?

So short answer, I wear it because I like it.
 
okay i kinda agree with you. i hate abercrombie and hollister and i refuse to even walk in one they are shit and i think its funny that the holes in all there jeans are the same. dotn start hating on preppy kids tho, i wear polos a lot cuz it was my school dress code for 7 years and i got used to it

one thing you left out is when kids wear stuff they dont do. for example, i saw a kid wearing a ski patrol shirt from a/e. i knew he prolly didnt even ski, but to fuck with him i asked him which mountain he went to and he was like o i dont ski and i asked him why he had a ski shirt on. instead of admitting his mistake, he tried to accuse me of not skiing (as i was wearing a ski shirt) and it was funny. i think thats all of the story
 
i have one pair of abercrombie shorts that i bought in florida cuz of an emergency last year... lol other than that i am sooo not down with that shit.

i shop at the local skate shops as well, jea top of the world.

and man if i STILL lived in montreal I would continue to shop at d-structure too but now i can only do that on the weekends that i go back up.

i hate american eagle i think they're just trying to re invent the hippie style..i say go to a second hand store and find some real vintage hippy shit if that's what you are trying to go for..and u wont have to spend hundreds of dollars on an outfit.

but i guess sk8 clothes are actually really expensive...still though sk8 clothes are just so chill..and volcom makes the most original shit.
 
i guess im using the term preppy kids lightly, im really using it to refer to the people that shop at the stores. keep your opinions coming.

I'm sorry, I had too. Seriously though I partly agree with you. Just the other side of me just says whatever, who cares, let people wear what they want. Like I dont see why preppy kids should be judged anymore than whatever other crappy subculture.

i saw a girl with a shirt that said Mount Snow and when i asked her if shes ever been to mount snow she procedded to tell me that mount snow isnt actually a place, its just a name prinited on an american eagle shirt.

I procedded to call her Jaded and told her ive been to Mount Snow over 5 times.

one of my friends made me go into american eagle with him and i almost bought something of the clearance rack. I dont know what i was thinking i would never buy anything from those stores.
 
ahh people at my school do that all the time..one of those companies made a shirt w/ jackson hole/the tetons on it and they didnt even know it was a real place when i asked if they'd ever been there

ah it pisses me off so much

ive boycotted those stores for...forever haha i hate it so much and i refuse to go in those stores
 
i also dont like when ppl wear things they dont do.

i saw this girl near my house wearing a whistler shirt..it's those stupid whistler hoodies from like...fuck what store..old navy or ae or something..i actually like old navy though but yeah anyway she so doesnt even know where whistler is.
 
i see where your comming from. i mean.. when you see the same shirt worn from AE by 3 people in one day.. you know stuffs up. and i walked into the change room fromgym class the other day, first on in, and everyones got there shit hanging on hooks, and everywhere you look its collars and stripes, everywhere! i was with the other 10% wearing a non ae/hollister/af shirt.
 
don't you especially hate those stupid shirts from ae that say like joe's surf shop, jim's tackle shop etc, since those stores do not exist, and the graphic is all faded looking in an attempt to make the shirt look vintage

also that ae football team crap is also stupid
 
well.. if its the price of the clothes that you are upset with then you might as well boycot all of the ski company clothes as they are the same if not double the price of a n fitch clothes. 25 for a tee? thats not bad price.. i bought my armada dirt logo tee for 25 half price. but i agre with you, people gotta wear differnt shit. I think that without the oc and those kinda shows everything would be more original
 
a few of my friends have been picking up shirts for like 5/$30 at foot locker, then screening stuff like bands and gun and shit on them

come on. people wear what makes them happy, just like what kind of music they listen to. i love j crew, american eagle jeans, lacoste, polo...but i still wear tons of goodwill tee shirts and just tons of everything else. i wear what makes me feel good about myself. other people do the same. stop ragging on them. they dont feel obligated to. they feel like they want to. imagine how excited those girls you saw were when they got those new shorts they had been coveting. its you finding some AR5's for 250 new. people wouldnt bag on you because now you have armadas and so does sooo many other people. come on. think before you speak before you try to put people down for doing what makes them happy without hurting anyone else.
 
oh i totally hear you on that...i think Bp is just saying for him it's not what he digs and he's not losing sleep over it or anything. and i highly doubt he's gonna point out everyone wearing AE and call them fags. I'm pretty sure he's just saying he doesn't get it. like why are those stores so popular when their shit isnt very original. i think is what he's actually getting at...i could be wrong though..but i mean that is how i feel about it.
 
ya i agree i shop at spirit the local skate shop and at smoe other department stores not any of the big brand stores jus places i can get a pair of jeans for 10 bucks, i dunno i think that abercrombie and that shit is gay but some chicks do looke hot in it so i dont mind
 
whats with everyone and their clothes. All of my shirts are free, and all of my pants and shorts are cheap as shit. I dont understand how what you wear makes you cool.b
 
right on i know what you're saying, but at least for me with J crew and lacoste i dont shop there for their originality. i shop there because they arent original. i mean those companies make products that dont follow trends, they just never go out of style. its class for life. i mean chevy chase in Vacation is basiclly sponsored by lacoste and the same shirts he has are still on the racks today.

abercrombie is different. i dont shop there. i think its a waste. paint stained jeans and purposely ripped t shirts. i cant stand it. its like "look at me im derelict! NO LOOK AT ME NOW!!!". its clothes for the attention whore and its seriously just a huge waste of money. american eagle is alot cheaper, and make amazing jeans and pants that just really fit great, while still being very affordable. they mostly arent also torn to shreds when you buy them. that style will go out soon enough, just like the zoomba pants of the 90's. when "i love the 2000's" airs on VH1 in the future, they will rip on pants that are destroyed for no reason and are all wrinkled.

but thats my point of view. if they want to wear that stuff and it makes them happy, there is no reason to get angry at them or tell them how unoriginal they are. just dont shop there if you want to protest them. leave those who do alone.
 
i really dont see the big deal in these stores that you all hate and choose to 'boycott.' if you dont support those stores, dont buy there. there's no point in typing out a 'rant' so that maybe people on ns will agree with you. come on brian, if you seriously dont like those stores, Just.. dont go there. No need to in getting all angry whenever you see anything from hollister or ae. It's clothes, who cares. You wear them and that's all.
 
Hollister stores scare me, I think they keep them dark so nobody notices when they kidnap and rape you. Even if you survive that, then they go and rape you with thier prices anyways.
 
i hate how everything at those stores is made for kids who weigh under 120 lbs. Im 6'1, weigh 200, and nothing in those stores fits me. When a normal t shirt in a size L or XL will fit, I try on a XXXL at hollister and i cant even breath with it on.
 
i were stuff from AE and hollister all the time..pretty must just polo's..i also wear armada and 4frnt shit all the time..were what you want and dont tell other people what they can wear and what they cant wear
 
get some iron-on things from walmart or someplace

make sure when you print the graphic mirrored, or it will come out with the letters backward and shit

if you want it professionally done, just find a sign shop in the yellow pages
 
man, i really dont care. you make a good point about how every one is wearing the same thing, but thats trends for you. I dont shop at those stores cause i dont have the whole "preppy look". I like to wear lose fit jeans and a t shit, i really dont care what name is on it or who makes it, as long as its comfy. If it looks cool to........well thats just a bonus i spose
 
I just hate the people like if you've never seen them with a polo/ar/a&f/hollister shirt on before and then the next day they come in with one. The people who just wear them because it's in style. I would never pay $60 for pants or $25 for a t-shirt. That's just some bullshit. You can go to Marshall's and get the same stuff for a lot less.
 
I get where your coming from, but I know i go into abercrombie, american eage, Hollister ect. and look for stuff i like, but some people do go in and buy shit there because its "cool". If goth was cool, i wouldnt wear it, If disco was cool, i would wear it. I would still rock my regular clothes.
 
i have 1 abercrombie long sleeve striped polo and the only reason i bought it was because it was the only long sleeve striped polo that has had long enough arms for me (i'm 6'6")...
 
let people wear what ever the hell they want to. you can't control what cloths u like. not everyone wants to be so origional, and like what is being advertised. for me ersonaly i go for thrift stores :)
 
Who cares if 20 girls look the same? That just means that a company is doing a good job making a product that many people like. Not everybody buys a&f, ae, and hollister becase it's trendy, some people actually do like it!
 
actually dude.. when u look at prices they are cheeper..

i can get a t-shirt at hollister for $15.50

when i get it from a skiing compant its at least $20 some are even $30 and i don't like the way they fit...

also polos at hollister are $34.95

ralph laurn has them for $50.00

i wear the stuff because it fits well, and is comefortable.

but i get really pissed off when ppl are saying i don't buy b/c they are a large corporation or w/e i only wear volcom, element, and so on what most of these idiots don't realize is that volcom is part of a company thats most likely twice the size of ae or abercrombie or whatever
 
well i got my mine t-shirts for $7 on sale from $22 and if they were still $22 i wouldn't have bought them. And I'd rather buy not as "good" jeans for less. I buy clothes that are on sale and cost less than what Abercrombie charges.
 
go to d-structure and post some of the prices of the t-shirts there then go to hollister or a.e. and post some of the prices of their t-shirts... u will find the prices a lot less at hollister and a.e.

don't rant on companies cause u think they cost more. even when they don't..

who the hell cares wear what u want...

i wear shit that looks good feels good and is moderately priced... it just happens to be stuff from hollister.. thats just the way it is
 
i can get polos from ralph lauren for $34, and even less with the employee discount that someone i know has. go to a polo outlet and they sell them for 34

as for me, ive never stepped into AE, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister but not because im like BP, but because i just never needed clothes like that. im sure that i will end up going in there eventually. i used to be closed minded like bp and thought i would never step into those stores, but the clothes are nice and im not going to care if other people have the same stuff as me.
 
lol actually our school doesn't have football (some kid died a few years back so that sport got cancled)

secondly.. i wouldn't lay a finger on any of the cheerleaders at my school.. fucking nasty as hell

and thirdly... i have yet to see other kids in my school with the same exact shit as i wear. thats prolly happened to me 3 times in my life... and only once in high school

i hate it when kids think they need to buy from small companies to feel cool. lol who the fuck cares... are people gonna look at your tags and be like "dude awesome your soo cool for supporting them" chances are not.. lol
