Long skis are wicked if you got the skill to use them and the strength... they go faste and they're more stable. They make slow spins look more stylish IMO. The skis stick out more so in a way it makes the spin look slower...

Long skis are heavier so therefore when you spin out of control in the air and then you can hit the 1080 mark easily!

someone said it before get the size that fits your height, that simple. short for your height looks dumb guz theyre small and everyone knows you got no skills. to big you have a hard turning and staying in conrtol.

mine go about 2 inch. above my eyes, so i think theyre 170's too lazy to check.

mine are 174's and im 5-11/6 foot. They go up to eyes and forehead. Good enough for me. I think for my next skis im getting 300 cm jumping skis like in the olympics. Those will be steezy

^ yeah imagine a corked 7 on those, he would take the heads off all the people watching.

It's too bad that people with short skis suck, because Mike here could be a super sick skier if he had 190s on. This is what he doesn't get free equipment from LINE and doesn't have a a full sponsorship with AZAD ADVENTURES. This is why he doesn't win every comp he enters. Maybe if he gets some long skis he'll be able to do all that stuff but... oh well.

long skis are just more stable thats it, and they look better, but its how tall you are, if you 5'10 and skiing 158, lame, if your 4'0 and rocking 170, lame

BUY 4FRNT SKIS

it depends on what your doing, im 5'7 and i ski on twin tips that are 170-175 i like a shorter ski because they are light and able to spin easy on them, powder skis 185-190 i like a big ski for speed and longer turn radius to do big Super G turns down big faces

BE YOURSELF

Steve, if the shoes are too big they won't stay on your feet. Skis will because of the bindings... if you hadn't noticed them there before... They're completely different. I ski 193s for EVERYTHING and they rip but when I ski trees I wish I was on a pair of 180s for obvious reasons. That's the only thing about long skis I don't like, they make trees very difficult and it actually changes your technique when you get used to skiing trees on 193s. BTW, I'm only 5'11...

Go big or go home

steve, just realise, the longer the ski, the more talent it takes to do tricks. if your fried mike had some longer skis, im sure he would get more respect. short skis require almost no skill to use compared to bigger skis. just, for the sake of the human race, tell your friend to get some skis over his head, may it be an inch or a foot. i doubt youll do the same, though, because your so fucking stubborn about keeping your skiboards.

kinda funny to listen to.

that is quite jibtastic, sir.

I think we can all agree that if you have to choose between riding skis that are a little too short and riding skis that are a little too long, it is better to go for the longer ones. All of this nitpicking is pointless...

check out Stept...

^Yea seriously, I think it takes just as much skill to do a cork 5 or 7 on 170s than on 190s. Unless you are doing tricks on something crazy like 230s, its all the same. Sure it may be a little harder, but nothing serious. Skis up to the top of your head is where its at.

Where were those pics taken? That looks like the shittiest park ever. I feel sorry that you have to ski there.

steve those pics are not proving ur point, the style is bad in most of them, and everyone can do a 4 foot disaster. and theres no such thing as a rodeo 3.

since were on the subject of ski length, if i'm almost 5'5'...should i get the 170 msp? or the 167 stl?

'well i bumed into kristi once and she was like 'yo me and pep are gonna get big gulps, you in? and i was like, Shit yea bitch, let me bring rory bushfeild and hibbert, cause were really tight' -Mikael420

'Like i once judged this guy cause he had rental skis and he said he could do 7's. And obviously i thought he was bullshitting. But then he busted a corked 5 an i found out he was only on rentals cause he broke his twins. And those rentals were 160's and he could still bust out and look cool. SO dont knock on people for stuff like that. Look at skill.'

how can i look at skill when hes riding 160s. they dont TAKE any skill to use. GOSH.

tinkpigers

actually the longer they are the more difficult they are at first, but then it's just a lot better.

-at least you went down naked-

no i figured it out when he over shot the bowl and shit on the back of the toilet. then he signed my beanie.-Hoodratz47 in response to being in the same public bathroom with mike wilson

Skiller 3cm really wont make that much of a difference, so look at the dimensions and determine which would be best for your riding.

^thanks

Has no one thought to say that you should ride what you feel comfortable on? Look theres a standard on where you should fit your skis too but personnal preferance is all that determines longer or shorter. I don't put much stock in the 'shorter skis = faster spin, easier jib' but neither should the aesthetic quality of longer skis factor in. Use the skis that you can manuever the best and which fit your ability. Its just that simple

im about 5' 8' and i used to ride 161's, that were mounted back further.. but i finally got new ones that are 174 center mounted. i rode them and after 2 runs i was completely used to them. it was a little strange turning with such a long tail but it's so much more stable when skiing down the hill and in the air, especially going switch. i went back to the 161's for one run and i felt like i was on snowblades. it was all squirly. anyway, hope that helps you.

im 5-11 or 6 feet, and one time i had left my 174s at somebody's house, and i was going skiing so i had to use my 161 1080s that are reallllllllly worn in and flexible. Damn landing switch on 540s was next to impossible

jibba jabba

I think shorter skis are deffinetly easier to spin. Just looks at all the snowbaord jib boards they are like 5-7 cm shorter than a freestyle/freeride board. It's simple physics, the further the weight is from the center the more resistance it has to movement.

I think rails in general are just a phase. - Anthony Boronowski

You know my steez.

^but then u could argue that longer skis have more swing weight and are easier to spin

Skiing isn't an escape from life, its simply a better form of it-Matt Levinthal-AXIS

im 5'3 and will prolly be 5'4 next season, i was thinking about getting a 155 next year but aftr reading pretty mch every post on this thread ill prolly go up to 160's to 163
