Got some wack news from the doc.. ACL is torn after some spring skiing. Any tips / advice from those who have done the same? Going to take PT serious obviously and get back to sending it ASAP.. trying to come back 110% mentally and try and match it physically once ready!

Did this a couple seasons ago. Got mine rebuilt with a patellar graph in February, worked really hard in pt, and was skiing again the next winter. Good luck, mentally it really took it out of me at first with having to sit around and not ski all the time. Find other hobbies, you can make it!

check out the @kneesovertoesguy on insta, shit legit, I blew mine out about a year ago, almost a year out of surgury, dont skip the gym no matter what.

Low even for you. Get help

Yeah, let's encourage kids to make a thread every time they get injured. NS would be filled with threads about women tearing their ACL for the 8th time, you fucking doofus.

they do anyways tho

Blew mine in February with an additional medial meniscus tear, partial MCL tear, bruised femur, tibia and cracked tibia. I'm Canadian so Surgery is still 3 weeks away in mid-June. Opting for the hamstring graft. Broke my femur on the same leg 5 years ago, Injuries suck. Cant wait to go under the knife.

Good luck and healing vibes sent. Listen to the doctors and the PT, ask questions if you are not sure about anything. They will guide you to a good strong recovery and get you back on the slopes for the up coming season. May not be able to go until late December/January but you will ski again. Like others said, learn a new hobby(guitar, sewing, anything to keep you occupied), you got this. Been through this a few times myself.

Start going to physio asap, the more work you do before surgery the better off you will be after. I tore mine + microfractured my knee in Feb 2017, got surgery in Oct 2017 (So I didn't miss out on summer) and had the best skiing season of my life in 2018/2019. If you are getting surgery you probably won't ski next year, sorry to say.

But... I started coding during my recovery and it's now my job! My friend did his and learned guitar and now it's his biggest passion and he records a bunch of dope stuff. It was a really transformative experience. Anyways, pm if you have anymore questions

Blew mine out in March and tore my meniscus. Got the MRI in early April. Got surgery a week later.

Make sure you find a good surgeon with an outstanding reputation. A buddy just got surgery on his elbow, he didn't shop around, and he's already paying for it.

As others have said, find a hobby. I picked up watercoloring a couple months back and its keeping me sane. Be ware that you're probably going to be emotionally needy too since your friends might be out doing fun stuff while you're stuck in bed possibly ruminating. Keep your mind strong by reading, learning. Don't let negative thoughts fester and keep the junk mental food to a minimum.

Go to PT even if it sucks the first week after surgery. Get your knee moving especially if your meniscus was damaged. Apparently scar tissue can build up and prevent smooth movement of your knee if your not constantly rehabing. I've done 90% of my PT at home - you don't need to go into a PT constantly to do the work, just gotta be disciplined.

Cheers homie, sorry your hurt.
