A year ban....????

I was just looking at the whistler blackcomb park report and at the end of the video it had a message saying that anyone seen jumping or jibbing any slow signs will receive a year ban. This to me is completley retarted, anyone care to make sense of it for me?

at the end of the video (at 1:04) it says, and i quote

"Important: One year mountain suspension for jibbing and jumping saftey and slowzone banners"

sorry bro

well it seems that if you jump or jib any of the slow signs you get banned from the mountain for a year..

don't really see what else there is to understand

They aren't a actual feature and you don't need to Jib them. So don't jib them and you won't get banned for a year. If you chose to Jib one you will be banned if you are caught.

One of my buddies ran into this today up Whis, FUCKING GAY. Grouse wouldn't even pull something this stupid.

right. how dare they not want you jumping over signs and knocking them over.

THE NERVE.

especially slow signs, which usually indicate beginner skiers who arent gonna be expecting kids jumping over signs.

THE NERVE

It's overkill. If you hopped a slow sign and got your pass banned for a year I'm pretty sure you wouldn't walk away saying "I deserve this for doing something terribly wrong." 1 year bans are given out for skiing permanently closed zones, this is just stupid. A ban for the rest of season, now that would be reasonable...

consequence does not = the harm for sure. but why would you need to jib the slow sign anyways. they just want to get peoples attention because 1 year sounds a shit load worse than 1 day or something like that

if you hear that you'll get a one year ban for tapping the sign, you'd stay away from doing it and it wouldn't even cross your mind. so they got the job done in terms of stopping everyone

It's not that hard to NOT jump over a sign. If you want to jib, go to the park. There are cooler thing than a canvas and bamboo sign to jump over or tap.

It's one of those things that makes park skiers look poor to the mountain. If ski patrol is willing to give consequences as serious as a one year ban, it must be a problem for them. Respect their work and don't jib shit that isn't meant to be jibbed.

You wouldn't go into McDonalds and knock all of the napkins on the floors because it's fun. don't haul ass down a slow run and tap a sign because it's fun.

if you acted sincere, they might be willing to let it go once.
but moral of the story is don't tap the signs

but you sure as hell wont be jibbing any signs now will you? is it probably overkill? sure. but it makes a good deterrent thats for sure.

i mean seriously, how hard is it to not jump over slow signs.

They have a one year ban, so that people don't do it. The ban doesn't coincide with the act. It is more there to scare people.

i can only picture this being effective towards those who get season passes. otherwise, anyone who is banned can throw on a new outfit and buy a ticket..

what the blackcomb park isnt good enough for you that its nessicary to go knock over slow signs...

no hate but im just saying, it seems like not jibbing ski patrol setups is a pretty small price to pay for the amazing park that they are allowing you to ride all day long.

i still watch it like every day at work. Upon reading this thread that was the first thing that jumped to mind

Thats excessive, but look what it started - a thread on newschoolers and hopefully more awareness on what a pain in the ass our shennanegins can sometimes be to our local mountain. Frodo, hope your buddy can plead his case and get Whistler to be lenient now that he's been made an example.

So do I seeing as he didn't even tap a sign, he just ollied over it. I know, same deal, but still not worth a year ban.

yeah the "rule sucks", but they just want you to contain all your tricks to the designated area. i don't know why that's so complicated. they want you to respect their pieces of equipment and the other riders in those areas.

slow signs are bullshit in the first place, fuck some ski resort conglomerate telling me how and where to ski on my land

Don't jib slow signs than?

It isn't that hard they are the giant orange signs that say SLOW in giant white letters if you didn't know.

if not being able to hit/jump a slow sign ruins your trip to the mountain, you deserve a year ban. go ride the mountain and park and stop being destructive ass fucks. fuck heshers and gypsies.

I'm willing to bet everyone in this thread has jibbed or tapped a slow sign at some point in there life so quit being so hypocritical and show a little sympathy to the poor suckers who fall to this ruling.

well yeah, but that doesn't mean its a big deal that you cant now. how about you have a little sympathy for the ski patrol to have to deal with petty BS like that everyday? and those "poor suckers" will only get the ban if they deserve it. by that i mean continuing to mess with slow signs even after being warned about the consequences.

seems everyone defending this ban doesn't like to ski and loves unfair punishment. a week ban would be more than enough to get the point across.
