A Columbine Victims Father Has Something To Say

I completely understand where you are coming from with the "seducing" kids into the religion, but you also have to realize that christians truly believe that those that dont believe in the salvation of christ will have a horrendous eternity. If you truly are christian, you want EVERYONE to learn about christ because otherwise you are pretty much damning people to hell. It makes since that you would do everything you could to at least introduce people to christianity considering the consequences of you not doing so. Wouldnt it be fucked up if you lived your whole life with a group of friends that were atheist, only for you to never say anything about your religious beliefs and to come to find out that you were actually right the entire time. You have to sit there and realize that you just damned your entire friend group to hell forever simply because you didn't want to bring up an uncomfortable conversation. THAT is why christians can come off as pushy about their religion, and I think it is completely understandable.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions"

I understand where they're coming from but that doesn't mean I agree with it.

I come from religion so I understand the mindset. I don't hate them for trying to save me, but at the same time I'm not going to pat them on the back and say " I admire your effort bro"

zZzZzZz.... the arguments about religion's place in society are incredibly one sided are narrow-minded on NS. it's the same old positions re-hashed again and again

Welcome to America, where we have the liberty to make our own decisions and be held accountable for them (more or less). Why don't you take that attitude towards it, instead of pushing it on people? That's what bothers people about Christianity. The U.S. has freedom of religion written right in the Bill of Rights. This covers every religion, including lack there of. Hence the reason why prayers are not recited in public schools, because that prayer may infringe on other's right to pursue their own freedom of religion. It's very simple, effective and tolerant, no one has to feel left out, or bothered if it does not come up.

I grew up in a good old Irish Catholic family, went to Catholic school until I was 14... even as a young child I held the same beliefs about religion as I currently do. It clearly does not take a genius to develop these thought processes.

What ever happened to not judging others. They should lead by example. "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven."

Even the Newsboys(huge christian band)

"Shine

Make 'em wonder what you've got

Make 'em wish that they were not

On the outside looking bored

Shine

Let it shine before all men

Let'em see good works, and then

Let 'em glorify the Lord"

If people let by example instead of constantly judging others maybe people would be more apt to listen. Instead I see them as hypochristians. They don't seem to follow their own beliefs, and spend all this time hating and judging others.
