the prelude is based on the accord, so it will pbly cost more, and have a shittier feul economy. Plus i have a thing against coupes. The integra is based on the civic, and will be cheaper, but i like the gs-r better then the type r.

itsbased on the framework, engine specs, length etc. Pretty much the same car with small changes. An example, with the exception of porsche, most of audi and volkswagon cars are based on either the passat or the beetle. The audi tt is based on the beetle, and it looks similar.

and 95 integra has a B16 type engine while as civics have D16 engines.... preludes have H22's and accords have f22's.... im not even getting into german cars, my uncle owns a VW, trust me your wrong on that whole thing, and there is alot of other differences between honda/acura

they are the same company, and have u ever driven both the new honda civic and the new integra replacement? There is almost no difference. Its so much cheaper to have a lot of ure cars based on 1 model.

Prelude would be better IMO.. you see less Preludes than you do Integras... and unique is good.. However, arent Preludes bigger than Integras? If you're going for extreme lightness, ,than you might want to stick with the Integra.

petek: i know they are the same companies... thats not what im getting at, and no the RSX and new Civic Si arent based on the same model either.... dude you need to stop being so general they are extremely different

andy: yeah the preludes are heavier, but the entire car has a wider stance so it helps anyway, and not but much, but the H22 engine in the preludes has about 20 hp more than most model integras, generally speaking

ok honda and acuras are definitely built on the same frames, the same goes for audis and VW's, i am not sure about the engines though.

the frames yeah... but the dimensions arent EXACT... there is differences, ESPECIALLY in bettles and tt's i dont even know where that came from.... but yeah honda/acura frames are closely related but not exact but this is so they can use factory parts such as seats on 2 models instead of 1.. the ones that go are CRX=Del Sol (thats the least related) CRX=Civic, Civic=Integra, Integra=Accord, Preludes are sort of like Accords but not really, but those all share features

having Altezza lights doesn't help much if you want a car to be good.

vtechs are great and all but seriously those jap pieces of shite aren't nearly as good as something european. If you are planning on building a pure street racing machine than by all means go with one of those two. but if you want something that is going to last you a 100 thou miles than go vdub or audi. there's just something way more solid about the dub and a tin piece of prelude. drive em man...we can all sit here and give our recommendations but only you will know what you truly want. In my opinion most of the aftermarket upgrades for the jap companies are just pure rice and of poor quality. In general tuning for vdub and audi is of higher quality...but more expensive. I wouldn't trade my jetta for anything.

petek has a good point - the gsr's have potential. If you plan on modding the engine, get a gsr. If you are going to leave it stock, get a type R. The type R is faster stock and also has a lot of extra suspension upgrades.

get the integra, there is so much more aftermarket shit available for integras and overall i think they look better and a type R can definatly beat a prelude anyday... a lot of ppl have integras but not many have type R's

detective, acuras and hondas are some of the most reliable cars on the planet, german cars are not. Most german cars are built in either brazil or mexico, because its too expensive to ship them over here.

I'm with Mr. Reedy, I used to be into the whole import scene then realized how much cash it takes to make a civic worthy, audi and vws are sweet as straight from the factory, excpt parts are a tad more for the europian cars but its worth it.

You're generalizing. Don't do that. Taking a Civic and throwing Altezzas and a tip on it is totally different from taking something like a Mazda Miata, or a Suby WRX, or a Supra or something, and modifying it for preformance while keeping a sleek and simple look. 'Hooking up' cars has been around for a lot longer than 'The Fast and the Furious' and will be around as long as cars exist. Theres a difference between 'ricing' and performance modding. Ignorance like yours starts flame wars, and does not contribute to the argument at all.

That's ricing, not actual performance modification. We're talking about actual performance modification. Its exactly as Basic said, its a love. Same as skiing. It doesn't matter if you're actually going to go to a strip and drag (which a couple of my friends do do up at Import Wars in New Hampshire) its the fact that you're able to eek out as much performance and actual style from your car as possible. Its fun. Its the same reason guys buy 69 Camaros and rebuild them. Its not like they're ever going to go race people in their Camaros, but its a project for them. A hobby.

Even if your post was made in a completely neutral position, it still had the effect of offending some people. Considering the thread isn't even ABOUT modifying cars, its out of place as well. Also, the whole 'arguing over the internet' thing. I presented a valid point, you countered it, its discussion, why are you on forums if you think arguing over the internet gay, isn't that part of a reason for forums?
