6cyl or 4cyl tacoma?

lol QUALITY products eh....sorry but BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I seriously laughed at that.....you mean the iron block, and the aluminum sheet metal that EVERY OTHER TRUCK IN THE WORLD IS MADE OUT OF. Why would you buy a truck, if you don't need the power? What are you gonna sick in that bed that you can haul with a 4? Dude when i go jibbing and i fill my truck up with snow, there is like 1000+ lbs of snow in that bed. The suspention sags to balls, and my engine has just enough guts to keep up with trafic. Honestly, if your buying a truck just for the fuck of buying a truck......get an SUV. Serious guy....you will just be much happyer with the more room for passengers, and the interior cargo space.

Think about it, with a sled in the back you can't keep up with trafic. If you put a trailor on that truck, its going to want to die on ANY HILLS. They are tanks.....because they have a full forged iron block construction instead of the cast stuff the other trucks were using at the time. But thats just the engine, have you ever seen a pre 1995 toyota with out any rust? EVERY tacoma, t100, SR5 SUV ive seen is just waiting to become a pile of red dust. The models after 1995 are not to bad, but still not as good overall as the north american models. Hell the toyotas don't even have a great drivetrain. Dodge has the solid front end set up, GM has the torsion bar, and ford had the double I beam on the older models.

Sport trucks are for city folk, that want to feel tough, and look badass with a truck, but don't know shit about what they are driving. They buy it for the cock and balls feel. Ive owned my truck for a few months and ive already loadedup a few quads, taken a few sleds to the shop, and truck around dirt for the foundation of my pool. My F150 does what it is ment to do. If you don't do that kind of stuff.....then don't buy a truck. Most beds don't even have a lock on them, and most trucks don't have a cover. You go to put your stuff in the bed, and your stuff will get jacked. If your in the city, and your not gonna haul around a TON of stuff, just get an SUV.

^^yea man, ive been thinking about 4runners but im kinda limited on price. i can get a much better tacoma for the same price as a run down 4runner though. which is why im focused on tacomas. and yea its just gonna be a truck to run to and from the mountain, but im moving to colorado soon. not really sure how the winters are there.

don't get a truck that is gonna eat gas. do some homework before you buy anything. i'm gonna take my truck, i really don't want to but i have to since i have nothing else and i'm poor lol.

Yeha i know you deffy need a good truck to move lots of snow, specially if your gonan be dirving over curbs or anythign wierd.  i had a v8 3/8 tonne serrria and we loaded that thing with snow, tried it ina  little toyota and the thing could hardly move. you deffy need a nice biggy for snow moving.

Get a jeep man.....don't get a truck. Get a 4.0 TJ, YJ, or cherokee. Super awsome on gas if you get the 5 speed, soild Dana 40 in the front, Dana 35 in the rear. TONS of parts if you want to mod. Thats the vehicle you want. You can get a great cherokee for 4000$ or under.

I agree with the jeep thing. If you don't need the bed, the next cheap vehicle My 1st was a 92 Cherokee shit was so cheap 2800 had it for 5 years thats some real cheap transportation. Now I got a new Dodge 1500 so like if your gonna get a truck make sure it has some power.

If not get the 4.0 v6 cherokee, shit has a lot of balls.

/no homo

a 4cyl will pretty much give you an elongated toyota with a bed in the back. you won't be able to do much with it. go for the 6cyl. it still won't be much of a gas guzzler, seeing as many vehicles on the road today are 6cyls.

I, however, drive a 4.8L V-8... it eats the gas like no other (it's not a tacoma though...)

6666666666666666666

i drive a v4 and when i drove my buds v6 SO much more power way better...you lack so much on accerleation and passing with a v4 highly recomend a 6

cause a toyota is well, a fuckin toyota! and i want a bed so i can sleep in it. not really worried about carrying people.

then get a diesel land cruser......lol your NEVER going to sleep in your bed, unless you want freeze

you dog you. someone wants to get busy in the bed of a truck. 4 and 6 ft beds are no fun though. lol. the longer the wheel base the better if ya know what i mean. ehhh ehhh ehhh?

lol.....man it just shows how dumb you are. You fuck in the back seat, not in the bed......yeah....im sure the girl would just love to have her couch frozen. Lol it woun't be so fun when you roll around in the rust bucket you call a truck bed.

For a few seconds i thought this tread was sort of serious, but i then read that and found out your just fuckin dumb.

i have a 97 4runner with the 6. id advise not to get a 4, sometimes they are even worse than the 6 on gas than the 6 because you have to rev them so high to get up hills and stuff like that. on another not i love my 4runner and it would pretty sick if you got a tacoma. theyre built to last. mine has 160,000 miles on it and its tight like new. im getting 20.2 mpg and thats with the fully boxed frame in the 4runner. im sure you will get about 24 in a lighter tacoma body.

he wants a tacoma so he can complete the bro look.

if i were you id just get a 1996-2000 4runner with the e-locker, so you can bone girls in the back seat and while maintaining good traction in 4wd LO

are you fuckin serious? so i dont have enough money to buy a full on Motor home bus you dumb fuckin shit. yes, i am actually going to sleep in it. shut the fuck up you dumb mother fucker. i was in a good mood till i read your post and you fucking ruined it.

im sleeping in my truck, its a ski mobile, going to and from the mountain, tailgating, hanging out at the mountain on nice sunny weekends...

fuck you.

a large majority of us are telling you to go with a 6 cylinder, and a couple are saying for you to go with a 4 cylinder. i don't know what you are looking for in our answers so go with whatever you think is best.

here's what i think: if you are going to put a snowmobile in the back you really should go with a 6 cylinder. if you are going to be trekking through the mountains you should go with a 6 cylinder. a 4 cylinder is for going to the beach and back. if you get a 4 cylinder i guarantee you will get into a situation where you really wished you had a 6 cylinder.

ps. if we piss you off so much then why bother getting on the internet? most of us are just doing it for shits and giggles.

fuck yeah dude, toyota is bomb. my buddies got a 86 toyata 4 runner. it has 300k miles, and has had ZERO engine problems. also, hhe turned it into a offroad beast, so its taken a beating. he put a 7 inch lift on it, and the frame is not bent or cracked in any way...

Either the 4 or the 6 are sick trucks. SR5 for sure. I have a '99 4x4 SR5 extended cab with the 3rz inline 4. It is not underpowered, but the gearing is a little high so shes definatley not a champ hill climber. But yotas are some of the best trucks out there. The inline 4 gets about 2-6 more mpg than the 6 cylinder. It also tows a hell of alot better. Good luck buying your truck.

Don't let anybody get ya down man, it sounds like you got your mind pretty made up. I have slept in the back of my yota many times, at ski resorts, or even just wild parties. It's great having a truck because they are so versatile, I can throw kayaks in the back, or multiple bikes, or as I often like to, shitloads of camping gear and wood. Bottom line, buy what you think you'll enjoy.

Final suggestions: You may wanna go to a dealer and find some slightly older tacos, ask to go for a test drive, try out the four and the six and feel the difference for yourself.

Also if you get one with a cap and really plan on crashing in the back you may want to look into a roof rack to free up some space in the back.

HAHAHHAHAHA, thanks for the IM. I love how you take this shit so seriously. Honestly, your freaking out about Toyota ( when the best thing they ever created was their old FJ, and their newer truck with the V8!!!!!). You are buying a truck for every wrong reason in the book......thats just the way it is.

You want something comfy to sleep in, get an SUV that your not gonna freeze in ( not a steel bed with two inches of fiberglass). You let this shit effect you way too much man. I think you just need to grow up a little bit, and take this shit with a grain of salt. And you live in Ontario.....you must be road tripping to some prettty far mountains if you need to sleep in your truck. How poor are you that you can't afford to stay in a hostel? Obviously not that poor since you can afford a truck. Anyways this is way way too hilarious.

i had an 85 yota that had a top on the bed. I slept in it when we went camping...why wouldnt i? sounds like you're going with a good choice, congrats on a new car!

what color?

Get off his ass man seriously, you seem like the guy who likes to stir up trouble and then sit back and laugh. So what if the dude wants to sleep in a truck bed, I've done it many times in extremely cold weather, it's really not that bad.(you are a skier right?? afraid of the cold??) Last time I checked hostels aren't usually located in the ski resort parking lot, which is where I usually crash in the truck bed.

Saying the best thing yota ever created was the fj and the tundra is a huge understatement and really shows your opinion of a good vehicle. Just man up and admit their light trucks rule, just cause their smaller than an f150 doesn't make them suck. Some people like a smaller truck.

I'm going to have to agree with you on this. I see way more older Toyota trucks running the mountains out here than I do Ford trucks. By a multiple of a least 5. If that's not saying something I don't know what is. Toyota's are tanks, built to last, Fords are well, overpriced pieces of shit is the best way I can sum it up. If you (MattyKappy) feel the need for a V8 Ford so be it, this guy knows what he wants so leave him alone. Your lame and irrelevant opinion is not needed/welcome here. He was looking for help on Tacomas, not which domestic truck will break down first after breaking 100,000 miles. I'd much rather choose a GM over Ford anyday, Fix Or Repair Daily or Found On Road Dead, yeah that makes a ton of sense to me. But I chose Toyota for their dependability. So grow the fuck up and go drive your Ford through another cornfield.

I never liked the new fjs until I saw one done up for off road kinda like this.

or you could drive this bad boy!

this model isn't expensive used, as its a 2001, and if it was kept in good condition then you won't have any problems with it.

oh sweet...i got accepted a couple of weeks ago. i haven't told my parents yet. i feel like i might get yelled at lol. but i'm moving out to breck hopefully just to ski. btw you will def be happy with the 6 out there.

BAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.......ohh my god you guys are funny. Magazine readers at their best. Ive never seen a toyota haul a 7 horse trailer, but ive seen TONS of fords do it ( and i know miss aspen has a soft spot for the ford power stroke). Does toyota make a diesel right now? No. Does toyota make a 3/4 ton, or 1 ton.....no. Does toyota have a solid front axl....no. Does toyota have a torsionbar suspention....no. I honestly don't care what you see on the hill, because honesty even super rusty shit bag honda civic can make it to the parking lot. It takes something a little more to do what a truck is made to do.

I was assuming he was buying a truck so that HE COULD USE it. Not be a "bro" and fuck his chick in the bed. Ohh and as a skier.....i am afread of the cold because in -40, if your " sweet ass bed" is not set up properly...YOU DIE. Not toss and turn......DIE. Sorry guy, but sleeping in an SUV is way better, and is way better suited for your needs. Sorry if i get enough freezing when i ride back home, but the nice soft bed is always great.

You want a real tank, Chevy Duramax, Dodge Cummins, Ford Powerstroke.......those are trucks that will last longer then you will. I will admit that the early toyotas were built great, the FJ 40s, SR5, 4runners, all great rigs, but the newer toyotas were just not up to par. And sorry.......you want a real offroad vehicle that chicks will love.....a nice Lifted Tj, or cheerokee will get more looks/respect/utility then the toyota.

my 85 had a solid front axle. besides conversion kits are easy to come by.

obviously the kid doesnt need to haul a 7 horse trailer, or a 4cyl wouldnt even be in the running.

why do tacomas get the "bro" award anyway? toyotas are great trucks that last forever. I think the point the kid you quoted was making was...

the kid wants a toyota, the thread wasnt titled "what should i get that isnt a toyota"...

What he's trying to tell you, is that he's really stressed out because he should have had his period at least a week ago, but he hasn't. Is he pregnant?!? He's been practicing safe sex - making them put a condom on... was it enough?!?

oh yeah, and that the Range Rover i pictured above will pwn all other trucks on the road, including the ones he listed, hands down.
