6cyl or 4cyl tacoma?

untill you get to Moab.......then your rover is not gonna last too long with out a winch, or 35in+ tires. Sorry buddy.....jeeps are the original 4wd.

You can do all that shit with a yota too.

oh and it's been tested before, and the range rover is capable of going more off-road places than any other vehicle except for the Hummer H1... so... i guess jeeps aren't the original 4wd

I agree, the new v6 in the jeeps now are soo balls, but i like how they are getting back to the offroad look, and going away from that street patriot look ( and the compass......i hate that fuckin thing). But i love the comander, and the CRD patriot ( diesel is the way to go for anything offroad in my mind). And landrovers can't go everywhere jeeps can go. Its just a sheer fact, they can go in alot of different environments......but as soon as you get to a bolder garden you need solid droping front axls and lockers.

I know car magazies do tall these tests, and so do TV shows.....but honestly i would much rather have a nice TJ with full ARB air lockers, 38 I rocs tires, Skyjacker rock ready kit, diesel engine with full chromogy roll cage. Im just not into leather interiors when im on trail....and i really reallly don't like whinching out of any situation. Every time i see a Range Rover it has a whinch hook on something.

Maybe not the landrovers... but a Range Rover can... because it does have a solid front axel... oh yeah and a rear one too. as well as advanced and emergency hydraulics, and a more powerful gearing in the tranny. However, the jeep does have an advantage over the Rover in that it is much lighter... My rover weighs in at 3.5 tonnes (It's heavier than pretty much everything on the road, aside from trucks)

I do, however think that the new ones can't... they're now too much of a luxury car... but from 2001 and before, they deff can.

Well i think they can do alot, but there are just too many things to break on those rigs, and the parts are few and EXPENSIVE. ( i looked into getting a discovery....the rig was cheep, but the parts....ouch). When BMW owned that company....and they were shoving M series engines, and that massive v8, those were proper rigs.

Defenders are still the ultimate Land Rover.....but i still think the jeep TJ is the ultimate offroad vehicle ever. It's just soo cheep to maintain, versitile, lower gear ratio( i hate to say this, but Jeeps have much more torque then the range rover.......the 6 speed 1 gear low end is 5.014:1 and the rangerover is 4.7:1.....although the defender does have a 5.77:1 gear ratio)

They are just two different rigs, the Jeep is a spartan anything beast, that can be built up to the ULTIMATE rig.

The Range Rover is a lux offroad anything machine that has little modification potential. In the stock form you can go tons of places with a range that the jeep can't go, but as soon as we talk mods then the TJ is the most versitle offroad vehicle in the world.

I'm going to agree with you 99%

Your statment is true if it relates to the average public, or even the avid off-roader... but as soon as you get into the competitions where money is not an issue, and you have corporate sponsors behind the vehicle and a crack-team of modifiers in the garage, a fully modded to-the-max Rover will, in the end, out-perform a Jeep - but with close competition.

But yes, in general you're right.
