63 mph

I wasn't "calling you out" I was simply wondering how thats possible when the terminal velocity of the average human body is 120mph.

"Waah do your homework waaah"

bitch.

i knoiw one time when i was little some guy pulled out radar when i was doing a slalom course and i was going 35. in the flats

well no shit it has to do with drag, and saying the slope has nothing to do with it, your wrong, the reason you get going faster then just falling down is because its a greater force then gravity. sure you can say all you want about the bullshit of drag profile and shit but realistically, unless your goin to the nines and goin all out, its not making much of a difference for someones speed down a hill.

only thing is an itouch needs wifi to probably use this app which makes it kinda pointless...it probably needs some sort of gps signal which would be found in a phone in order to calculate your speed...thats my guess tho correct me if im wrong

you moron

Do you really think there are any helping forces coming from the slope? The answer is no there are not, the upward force from the slope is in opposition of the force of gravity. Skydivers have hit hundreds of miles an hour without the aid of a mountain. You can't increase the force of gravity, so you must reduce DRAG. To call the drag profile bullshit? ha, then explain how terminal velocity for a body is 120 but sky divers get close to 1000 by reducing drag. I'm sure the guy who started all this can tell you aerodynamics make the difference between 100 and 150, go to the nines, go balls to the wall, really push those shins against the boot, but if you aren't reducing your drag it doesn't matter. Or maybe they just wear the speed suits to look cool.

i clocked 68.34 when used to race at bever creek. then i shit my self quite racing and stick to doing what i do now backcountry and park

i once straightlined nearly 2000 feet on fresh corduroy. i was probably going over nine thousand miles per hour.

that is wicked cool i used to have fucking downhill skis as a kid i prolly got up to 80 once but it would be fun to have had that app when i was a kid

yea this is a good point. its impossible if terminal velocity in freefall is 120 mph and someone went faster on a slope. as we all know, any slope has an x component of gravity pointed downhill far less than a free fall, not to mention a y-component equal to normal force that will increase friction to add to air resistance. just sayin

Dude I ski with sometimes has an old California Highway Patrol speed gun.
We took it out last year at Mt. Rose, and straightlined it from the top on a day when they groomed the backside trails. We cinched down our ski gear so it wasnt as crazy baggy, and wore packs.
I hit 86. He, being a few lbs heavier, hit 92. One of the most frightning things ive ever done haha.

Also, when I used to play hockey, my old coach was a Volunteer cop, and he would bust out the speed gun to see how fast we were able to skate around the ice during practice. I broke like 26mph or something when i was 13.

84 mph is my top.59 mph switch.
also, for the bitching that was going on about freefall, and not being able to ski faster than 120mph, be quiet.
World record, set in 2006, Simon Origone, 156mph.
