This just shows how bumb our school system is in America. A 6 year old brings in a fork/knife/spoon to show his friends and is suspended for 45 days.

And heres another little anecdote from the article that is even more ridiculous:

"The law was introduced after a third-grade girl was expelled for a year because her grandmother had sent a birthday cake to school, along with a knife to cut it. The teacher called the principal — but not before using the knife to cut and serve the cake."

this is a joke, i can understand security, but the kid does not posses the strength to hurt anyone, wtf has the world come to?

i cant believe kids have been getting away with that kind of stuff all this time, bout time they crack down

what the fuck?

its like his parents are afraid to get too close to him

My dad brought a shotgun to school in third grade for show and tell. He left it in the principals office until it was time to show his class how to clean it. A kid at my school was almost suspended for 30 days because he had a laser pointer. His parents said they would homeschool him if the school was going to do that so the school settled by making him do community service, over a fucking laser pointer. Schools are crazy when it comes that. Let kids not learn and cheat on everything but fling shit when a kid brings a butter knife to school.

i was suspended for 5 months (rest of the year) for litearlly just freaking out at two of my teachers because they were being completly rediculous

Do 6 year olds even go to school for 45days? But on the bright side atleast he isn't missing much besides a nap and learning his ABCs

i brought a pocketknife into school for show and tell when i was in 2nd grade, and my teacher just told me not to bring anything like that in again. and im from a suburban school, definitely not the sticks.

thats fucked up. how could you not feel like a total dick kicking out a kid out of school, who was only happy for just joining cubscouts and getting a cool little camping fork? wtf

after just getting the rank of eagle scout the world needs more scouts. this kid clearly is ambitious about scouts and the school teaches him its wrong. this punishment is rediculous. o and in high school my dad brought a rifle on the school bus every day cuz he was on the rifle team. o the times they are a changin

Banning knives from is a good idea only to an extent. Shouldn't get in trouble for using it at lunch.

haha some kid tried to stab my dad with a pencil and my dad kicked his ass (his words not mine), and then they went back to class together like it was no big deal. if that happened now wed probably have to go to some assembly and listen to some faggy shrink talk about how to show our feelings or some bullshit.

when i was in grade 2 a kid brought a plastic fake grenade to school and was suspended because apparently it was seen as some sort of bomb threat. cause a 2nd grader is totally gonna have a real grenade yknow.

Yeah, this is just ridiculous. When I was in school, I brought my hunting bow to school, and kept it in the school office. We were doing archery in phy ed class, and instead of using the school's crappy re-curve bows, I asked if I could bring in my hunting bow. They were cool with it. haha. Perfectly accurate up to 50+ yards, 300fps, and it's fine. But this kid gets in trouble for a Swiss Army Fork.

Still, kids can get ahold of weapons. Sure, grenade is a bit extreme but a weapon in general isn't too hard to get ones hands on.

2nd grader walks up to you: "hey man do you know where i can get a hand grenade?"

"yeah little buddy i've got one right here in my pocket you can have for the $0.50 you made selling lemonade"

I got suspended for 7 days in 3rd grade for spray painting a wall on a school field trip with a can of spray pain that i found in the bushes.
haha i was a young thug

It sounds pretty off but people like drug dealers, illegal weapon dealers and shit don't care how old you are, they just want the cash. Point taken though.

i think kids need knives because teachers are always getting pissed when you get up to sharpen your pencil, you could just get out your knife and sharpen it right there.

I went to school with shotguns/rifles in my car quite a bit in high school, never brought 'em inside but they were just sitting in gun cases in my back seat. Nothing like getting out of school and going pheasant hunting :)

oh man i dunno if you heard yet or not but they've got these new things called pencil sharpeners, i think they sell them at pretty well anyweher you can buy pencils now, they come in all different sizes but my favourite are the kind that are about as big as a tamagotchi and you just stick the pencil in, turn it, and it collects all the shavings in this little bubble.

It is retarded how they put so many of these incidents into one big umbrella category and give the same punishement. I mean, every case is different. Why would you punish a grade 2 who brought a knife to school the same as you would punish a grade 10? It just doesn't make any sense.

One of my friends brothers got expelled for having a gun locked in it's case locked in his car.

ok. now, i am in no way supporting the suspension. but where was the parent in this to say hey, its probably not a good idea to bring a knife to school. stupid rule, but im sure she had to read the policy at the beginning of the year, and every school makes it blatantly apparent that no weapons or mock weapons of any kind are allowed in school. she should know better.

No offense, but this is retarded. 6 year olds are in first grade, so yes, they go school just as long as everyone else in elementary school. Most kids know their ABC's by age 4, and stop taking naps at age 3.
