284,000 College grads making minimum wage.

I'm not using any of your tax dollars. I'm a web developer who happens to have a really solid income. Clearly that has real world applications considering you're using a website right now.

I'm sorry you find no interest in the history of the people of the world, but hey, that's you. Times like this I wish the supernatural existed so people like you could build houses on burial grounds and re live the pool scene from The Poltriguiest.

And what am I doing for the betterment of man kind? Probably not a whole lot, but I do a hefty amount of work for non profits. Most recently re did an avalanche center's website that is viewed daily to keep people informed as to the current dangers. Also building out a CRM for a non profit that has thousands of members/donators that helps put environmental programs into primary schools. Sure I do a lot of shit like online stores and what not, but to say what I do is unnecessary is like saying the internet is unnecessary.

All I see is yet another female invested in a non-intellectual field trying to justify the space she takes up. Webdev is for CS dropouts and people who think CSS is a good idea because it's turing complete.

Well, my existence has no effect on you (unless you partake in online shopping, or ski in the eastern sierra) and no burden on you.

But it's cool. I'll just continue to be extraordinarily happy with my life and contribute as much as I can monetarily, and physically. I'll continue to lead a happy and fulfilling life not giving a shit that I didn't help build weapons or create new medicines. Because in the end, we're all the same thing and none of it really matters. So I'll just have tons of fun and leave you to the "intellectual" world.

i've known i was going to be an accountant since I took my first accounting class my freshman year of high school. took three years of it in HS....they only offered two, but developed a special independent study for a third year for me. got a bachelors and masters degree in accounting and here I am....

Where the fuck do you get off?

Frat boy losers of the science world? How many mathematical fucks do you see taking thermo dynamics? I'm sorry that theoretical equations doesn't have any real world applications. I'm also sorry you're too dull to see that my engineering degree is being put to full use EVERY day I work. I'm sorry that I wasted my time responding to you.

You win Troll.

Like every combined math/physics major on the planet?

Engineers don't take thermodynamics. They take some butchered watered down version of it. I've seen the textbooks. There were even little boxes explaining how to punch the equations into a computer.

Theoretical equations can lead to real world applications, but to quote Feynman,

"Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it."

There are a ton of factors. everyones has good but no one person is totally right

yes, there are fucking morons who took Communications at North Florida College like someone said

yes, the job market is totally fucked and "real" jobs that you need "real" degrees for like Tech jobs are being outsourced

yes, some people have no real skills that an employer would value

At the end of the day, a LOT I repeat a LOT of job opportunities come down to connections. Oh Hey Uncle John, you work at ABC Finance Firm? Oh, you need a new Assistant Account Manager?

Well, I just graduated with my BComm in Finance. Okay, cousin Jim I'll get you into this job.

WHAT THE FUCK are you talking about?

Perhaps matrix theory is also a watered down version of math too.

I'm speaking about a 4 year degree from an accredited university that's in the big 10 (typically great engineering schools). I'm not talking about some fucking 2 year tech degree.

Dufus, browse through these courses and tell me that I didn't take these. http://bulletin.unl.edu/undergraduate/major/Mechanical+Engineering

You dumb bro.

you sent me a big list of course names... I have no idea what "engineering thermodynamics" means. What textbook did you use?

If you only took one course in matrix theory, then of course it is going to be watered down...

this made me chuckle.

one of the best degrees to make $$$ right out of university is geology.

and you say geology/biology are shit because they have no real-world application. riiiiiiiiggggght. just about everything you use over the course of the day came from a mine or came from a field. next you'll be saying chemists are useless too.

Except most people in frats tend to be in leadership roles after graduation, I'm not even in one and I'm well aware that's true

Idiot.

48% of all US presidents have been Greek

42% of US Senators are Greek

30% of US Congressmen/women are Greek

40% of all US Supreme Court Justices have been Greek

30% of Fortune 500 Executives are Greek

10% of all listed in Who's Who are Greek

If you had half a brain, you would know that greeks are a much smaller percentage than non-greeks in college. So when you have greeks at 40%, its actually pretty damn high.

It is hilarious that you're using the government as your example of leadership. the American government is full of people in frats no wonder why this country is doing so well.(Sarcasm) Why don't you go to the basement of your frat house and go do another elephant walk.

Just for the record, I haven't made a serious post in this thread. I thought it was obvious, but your collective butthurt begs to differ.

"They comprise nearly half of our most corrupt and dishonest demographic and can account for nearly 80% of the cause of this country's probblems!"

Neato brah. Color me impressed.

Yes people who probably go to Ivy League schools and are in frats. I highly doubt that anyone who goes to CU Boulder or UVM and is a "frat bro" is going to the president or a billionaire.

Hah right. Can you not read or do you have selective vision where you skipped over the part about fortune 500 companies and the Who's Who list? The point made is that people in greek life often hold high positions of power, be it government or executives.

Also, I think its hilarious you blame the ineffectiveness of the US Gov on fraternities. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about on either issue, so I show you the door. The adults are talking.

I'll address this post seriously. Matrix theory is not a thing. The theory of spectra and pseudo spectra is one thing, but matrix analysis in and of itself is a subset of algebra and linear systems, which combines affine analysis with algebra. I assume at the level you are at, that you're speaking about linear algebra, or, at least, the introductory class offered at every university. It's a good class, but wholly incomplete at your level. You don't end up completing the foundational picture until you finish modern algebra and algebraic geometry courses somewhere in your masters. Now, as for the the thermodynamics argument, chicken said it best. As an exercise, construct your equations from your engineering class. You won't be able to. There's a reason why there's a difference between classes for scientists and for engineers.

Greek life at Ivy League schools is extremely limited. They have "houses", or societies, which are unaffiliated with greek life.

Also you can keep arguing with me about how awesome frat and Greek life is And how far ahead you'll get in life because of it I don't care I'm not arguing with you anymore

I deactivated from my fraternity cause I didn't like it. I'm not here to flaunt anything about the Greek system.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh. My. God.

And a student to boot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh God, tell me more about "real life" hahahahahahahahahaha *wipes tear of laughter from eye*

This is a very compelling greek life argument here and all, but I think maybe you should take all those greek life statistics and specify them more into what percentage of those people were in pre-professional fraternities (business, pre-law, pre-health, etc) and what percentage of those people were in social fraternities. Also, what it really boils down to is that being in any organization at school is just another extra-curricular activity for you to put on a resume. On top of that, it's the people who held leadership positions in these organizations who most likely went on to do bigger things. So the argument that frat bros end up doing better later in life is a terribly derived assumption from the generalization that people who hold leadership positions in any organization are more likely to succeed later

Your commitment to hate is laudable. What's wrong with being a student btw? If you have plans to continue through Ph.D, it's practically a necessity.

Oh, there's nothing wrong with being a student.

There's everything wrong with being a judgemental, assumptive punk motherfuker student who acts like he has even had a whiff of "real life" yet, and that functioning adults living full lives in good careers somehow owe him an explanation as to why they dare to live out their lives not in accordance to your misguided and narrow world view.

So yeah, fuck off. Right back to student housing, y'know- whenever you're done hanging out in the quad that is, doing whatever important shit it is that adults like you do hahahahahahaha

... I live on my own in the city. If you need to vent, you can take it to pm. You may or may not need to calm down and take a break for a while.

Have you by chance revisited any of the fucking batshit insane posts you made before you just now decided to start acting like some ruffian raided your upper crust tea party? You can take your holier than thou attitude and shove it you fucking douchebag, you've been saying fucked up shit for pages now. Shut your fucking punk mouth already, I don't need PMs to tell you you're acting like a fucking brat on top of being flat out wrong about it.

Excuse me, miss, but I have only fucked up 1 total page, and never addressed you directly, so your anger is entirely misplaced and unwarranted. This is the way I post normally. Feel free to peruse my previous posts to check. The fact that you find my style upper-crust (which I assume means proper enunciated and well-formed, which I take as a complement) is own personal opinion. It's not "holier than thou".

Again, most "adults" don't "live on their own in the city" without a fucking job.

Grow up. That is not real life, nor is it grounds to speak down to anyone else. I don't care where your abililty to do it comes from, nor is it my business. I only take note when you begin to shit on others who are years and years past where you are now as if you know what's really good. You do not. That is all.
