23/24 gear hype thread.

Just got our hands on a few limited edition Traveling Circus chronic 94 and 101 (which will be next year's skis). Safe to say Line has been listening to durability concerns as the new sidewall on this ski and everything else on it look way burlier than the past couple years.

Looks just like a lot of taper to me, not full reverse sidecut

Callum was nice enough to respond to my dm, its the new Nocta and its not reverse sidecut. Fisheye lens effect made it look like a funky shape.. to me at least..

Edit: Confirmed by Callum himself while I was busy reading other things and forgetting to hit "Post."

Agreed. I think that second photo is warped by from some cell phone fisheye lens distortion that makes them look like they have full reverse sidecut, but the first photo definitely looks more like tons of early taper + large turn radius. I have a hard time believing a company like Black Crows would make a ski as super-niche as a full reverse sidecut model.

That’s the new magic j ul! It’s absolutely kickass ski! It has edgeless tip and tail but no smear tech and still has metal edges underfoot. It’ll be a limited release

this rossi ski doesn't seem to be the one max palm was on the fwt + logan pehota landing a 90ft cliff on

Are people really hyped on these? Looks like a dadpow ski to me, successor to the beloved Soul 7?

That’s why I’m curious on the weight of these. Has a very progressive mount yet the air tip is giving Soul 7 vibes. If it’s around 2200gr plus in the 184cm size, it might be worth considering.

I really wish [tag=134699]@onenerdykid[/tag] somehow updated those footbeds, so they stop cracking at the heel in new model

You can get shockstopper boot boards to but in the boots. Where i live it is available on Atomic's website under "spare parts"

If you are experiencing cracking with any of our hard foam boot boards, there are ShockStopper versions for all Hawx, Hawx XTD and Redster CS boots. They are soft & flexible but still grindable for boot fitting purposes.

Candide dropped a new outwear collection and something in the pics caught my eye.

Did some research, in other words googling and it confirmed my fears, it is non other than the long-lost SPK boot in pics.

So has Candide and his team bought the old Salomon molds and will he launch a full-on hardware collection?

Even more important, is he really putting his name on that piece-of-shit boot??

Nope they didn’t buy the molds for it but I know he’s been stock piling that boot along with a couple other athletes I know because they love that boot. Is it for everyone? Nope but neither is any other boot.

Haha allright, makes sense.

Pretty big stack if he can ski as hard as he does every year on almost 10 year old boots

FSSC (parent company of Faction) has publicly stated for a couple years now its plans to develop a boot brand, recent google searches say they plan this launch for the fall of '23. My hunch is that Candide is the back-door coordinator for this new brand and has been spearheading their R&D process, separate from the "Faction" branding but still under the umbrella of FSSC. I think we'll get a few glimpses of these boots in the coming months, but something tells me the product will take a couple more years to actually get into the hands of industry professionals

Any legitimate or updated info on this would be appreciated, I could be talking out my ass for all I know

Is this thing like a thigh-high boot?

I think the powerstrap is deceiving, an that the upper is not changed? Atleast in shape?

Having the powerstrap underneath on press photos maybe doesn't look "good"?

I believe it is January so maybe @onenerdykid can tell us about it?

Edit: sorry i don't know how to tag people

Boa allows to improve both fit and performance so yes you will see it on high end boots but we think it’s valuable for most skiers so we will also bring it down to intermediate level boots in year one two.

I'm sure it's just the angle of the photo but looks seriously disproportionate.

I was just joking that the picture makes the boot look six inches too tall.

I hope they have good warranties on the boa bits! I'm all for "dialing" in fit but I'm not sure that set up is the answer.

Same dimensions as the current Hawx Ultra XTD, no geometry changes. More details to come.

Part of the reason for the bulky look of the new BOA system is that it is seriously overbuilt. Internal metal gearing, thicker cable, screwed fixation points, etc. The dial itself is designed to disengage from its base plate if a large enough force hits it and it just pops back on, tool-free. There are lots of good things about this and again more details to come.

Hahaha Salomon also getting on that fish-tail trend with the Addikts!

That new qst echo 106 looks almost like a park ski, that's probably the best we can get
