2022/23 Season: Hype Thread

Pretty shocked this thread hasn't been created yet, but the air felt a little fall/crispy yesterday and I'm starting to get the end-of-summer-ski-buzz. Wondering how everyone else is feeling?

What are you goals and plans for the upcoming season? Any fun trips on the horizon? Any new tricks you've learned over the summer, or want to try next year? Got a new kit you're hyped on? Post what you're looking forward to here! (Let's try to keep this thread about skiing, lol?)

I've gotten pretty broke off the past few months, so just looking forward to cruising around and being on the mountain again!

Im moving to kirkwood employee housing this fall. Anyone care to show me around some freeride terrain?

I am rewatching old SLVSH tournaments on youtube, its been great. We really are in the last stage of the offseason now. Summer camps and North America skiing is wrapped up and August is on the backend. Once we hit September we're basically there. Fingers crossed for Wild Mountain opening in October like they did 2(?) years ago here in MN

Will be so stoked just to be skiing again. Hoping to finish my final video project this year, only need to get about 40 sec of footage that I like so I figure that shouldn't be too hard to do

Met kids who love filming/street, hiking ruby hill after work, and are down to just ski as much as possible, most hyped I’ve ever been if everything goes well we’ll have a pretty solid movie to show for it after the season

All my school friends are racers.

I used to race and my friends were racers too. Try to convince them to get into park skiing. From my experience, racers can pick up park skiing pretty easily if they're not afraid of falling

There was frost on the roofs in Keystone this morning....

I'm hoping to ski Skyscraper soon and hopefully that can tide me over until The Basin opens.

Im gonna level up my rail game and also work on my steez. Gonna try to ski some street and go to the fjälls and ski offpist. Probably gonna try to get better at grabs while doing corks and also get my switch cork better and get better at butters

Got an urban movie in the works, helping film for a diff movie, and overall other than some gradual progression of my actual skiing, this seasons main goal is to bring a new chemistry and unity to my little crew. We’re all so like minded but equally as unique in our own rights. I’d really love to take it a few steps further than a crew of friends that film clips on the weekend. I’ve got an interesting approach to it, wondering if it’ll work.

outside of that hopefully hood at the end of the season, and through the season meeting many new faces, as well as linking with some little seen but all too familiar faces.

There’s a storm comin mfs, idk what’s in the air but the hunger and passion has never been this high, this seasons gonna be insane. Sending it all your way NS, hope y’all feel the same.

I'm going to attempt to get more than 15 days in this year.

Also it's a little hard to ski when you winter in Miami.

Season of boozed up rope tow and chair laps, loud digs at Vail in the crowded lift lines, street heaters, and at the end of it all, hitting the road for hood and staying out there til Memorial Day. Gonna be a good one.

Maybe a couple cans crushed to round it all out

Gonna be bringing in 500$ a week ski coaching which at 15/16 will be a huge deal especially since I work from early December all the way too the last week of March

I’ve never been more hyped for skiing. I’m in hawaii right now and the only thing I’ve watched is ski videos. This season is gonna go crazy.

I've got a pair of Vishnu keys coming which I am VERY excited to try out this coming season. Especially since I've never used a pair of new, dedicated park skis.

Moving to nz and I’m super hyped to check out the freeride scene there. Got cork 7 and misty 7 pretty locked this summer off of random shit so I’m gonna try and put those to snow. Bummed I gotta wait till next June to ski but it’ll be so worth it

I hope to have some storms over a foot at bridger this year and good vibes all round and for the homies and I to finish the [tag=282230]@BBU[/tag] movie hopefully.

I learned both way cork 7 and 9s on tramp and airbag , and right dub 10 on tramp. Probably won’t send that dub 10 till later in the year but I’m hyped to send the cork 7 and 9 opening day at copper if they have that medium jump up. I bought Jeffrey’s but will prolly mostly use them for all mountain. Also I got last years Tom wallisch pros for super cheap so that’s cool and I’m really excited to try them.

And before y’all shit on me for the twallisch pros they were on sale for $150 and I know they won’t last long, especially considering I broke a pair of poachers last season (also surfaces but not suprised)

Just hyped to go skiing in general. Got some new Fauna Pioneers this summer and looking forward to shredding them! Bring on the snow!!

Last week at PT was the first time I was able to pole plant since I snapped my humerus in February. Next day I went to Cannon and hiked up Kinsman Glade, whole time thinking about riding down it.

This thread also marks the slow transition from summer newschoolers back to winter. Get your shitposting in while you can folks

Being good enough to snap skis negates any uncoolness associated with them.

Will this be Stuck in Ohio Volume 4?

Got a date with a certain ledge to finish up a certain project. My singular objective rn. Can’t wait.

Yes that was 2 years ago!

I think it was October 20th or something like that. It was a Tuesday i think. I didn't make it out there until Saturday because of work but still Thats an early start compared to the mid November of last season. The weekend after was like 75° I remember skiing at Troll with just t-shirt on my upper body and my legs and feet roasting.

I'm excited because I have new Vs coming soon.

I finally learned how to slide a tube this summer, so this season its on. I'm gonna work on rails. I'm tired of getting hurt on boxes and skiing with skis that are too long for me.

No trips planned during the regular season other than I want to make it Elm creek more than once like I did last season. I also want to check out Hyland and Welch village at least once. I've never been to either.

I will very likely go west again for summer skiing.

I’m getting season passes to Afton and Hyland this year and will try to get some nights at troll. Let’s finally get some laps some time

Since housing is non existent in ski towns in the USA and you can't get seasonal rentals (this was a thing back in the day) I'm looking into Switzerland and a small studio for 6 months. Shouldn't effect work. I want high glacier places that open in October.

I want 5 grand to get me 6 months housing, pass, 2-3 round trip flights before Xmas. I think I can pull it off.

Absolutely! Maybe I'll mention it on my stories or something when I head south. Skiing actually with people would sure be fun and help with progress for sure.

Afton is another one I haven't been to yet either.

I have a season pass to Troll since thats where I go the most and got the night pass to Wild since last year most times I went was in the evening. I live equal distance to both places only about a half hour drive.

If Wild mountain can squeeze in an early opening like that again we'd be skiing in 2 months!

Also Hoping I don’t catch trespassing charges and property damage issues for three of the street spots me and some homies got lined up. All there could be amazing magazine or prints and will also be so fuckin sick

Will be my time spending a full season in a western state. Going to make Sunday's and Mondays my weekends from work to get a weekday ski day. If I can get the gear aquired hoping to dabble in touring a bit and maybe there's a trip to Utah or something thrown in somewhere. Should be fun!

Ldoh at timberline tomorrow :( but I finally learned cork 7/9 this summer after probably 10 years of telling myself I was going to do it “this season” so I’m very stoked on that. Gonna try to take it to some natural features once the snow is back
