Is this instead of coaching or in parallel with it?

It'd be cool to swing both but it's hard on the body so I'm thinking on-call when I have some days off.

This was my favorite part about ski instructing. Taught 4-7 year olds at springs as my winter job in HS. My supervisors got word that I was one of the only instructors that knew how to slide rails and shit so they put me on freestyle lessons or with kids who were the better skiers out of the bunch. Was so awesome to see em get so excited to rip thru the beginner park and slide boxes.

I think park skiing around here has a decently bright future cause once kids got good enough to navigate down a black diamond they all still wanted to rip through the baby park and hit rollers n boxes.

exactly what i’ve been doing. so sick to see them all try and find lil side hits and beg to go in the mini park. gonna all be rippers by the time they’re 10-12

It's really special. I had some really rad coaches I skied for back in the day that were some of the greatest male influences on me as a kid and now as a.young adult so I tried/try to embody those characteristics and pass it on to others.

Yeah I wasn't stomping dubs or ripping nasty rail tricks but fuck man, being able to teach a young person about how rad skiing can be is priceless.

I will say besides the youngins (U12s and younger), working with our young female athletes was incredible. Please support your young female rippers because they are the future. They have such a gold sense of "Boyz are fucking stupid, I'm gonna kill this shit right here" and it's totally gnarly. Girls want it more than us.

Love the teaching stories. I have a friend who got through some dark times teaching kids to ski, she lights up visibly when she tells it.

Plans for the year? Still just practicing skiing backwards. I really enjoy that though.

I’m thinking about picking up a part time gig on park crew. Also trying to plan out my backyard park as well.

main goal for this season is to learn switch on tele.

The ghee is legendary and i hope you have fun dude. Fuck Jhole.

Thanks boys, I’m so gassed up. Last season I worked there was 19/20, right when plans for the new lift were getting real, never thought I’d be able to come back and ride it

Love that part of the country dude. Time goes slow up there and the skiing is rad...probably the sickest view of the teets as well. That new lift is gonna provide some wild skiing. The IFSA venues at ghee this past season were buck.

Im moving to kirkwood employee housing this fall. Anyone care to show me around some freeride terrain?

Hope to see you on the mountain! I've only got a couple seasons at kirkwood under my belt but here are some tips:

-The figure 8 of amazing freeride terrain: Chair 10 > eagle bowl / norm's nose, up chair 2, then up chair 4, then down to devils corral (hell's delight or any of the other double blacks) will take you all the way back to chair 10. Rinse and repeat. On days when all the other pow is ruined, that ridge down to devil's corral from chair 4 or vista always seems to have the best snow by far.

-On pow days they open the mountain pretty predictably usually. Chair 6 usually opens first, also chair 6 will pretty much always have pow depending on how hard you want to work for it. The traverse can be brutal and I usually don't make it past Palisades bowl. It's not really worth it to try and make it any further. Then they'll open chair 10. Then eagle bowl. Then if you're lucky they'll open chair 4. They are the slowest and least reliable to open chair 4. Lucky because either- you're one of those people who think that's the best terrain on the mountain (it's not, but it is still fun), OR, you will have the rest of the mtn to yourself because all the jerries head there. Either way, it's good news. It's a game of being at the right place at the right time.

-imo Sentinel is the best groomer on the mountain when it's a groomer. Also devil's draw on the backside for maximum speed.

-Cheapest beer at Red Cliffs lodge

Should be easy to find you favorite spots if you branch out from there. Have fun!

Make the most of my last season in Wydaho for a minute. Tour a bunch. Ski some of my favorite lines again. Maybe try to ski off one of the bigger summits again. Try to get a natural hit 360 and a first hit front flip. Not get in an avalanche funk this year.

What's the setup on top?

It’s a clearclick. It just records what the cam sees so you can completely bypass using a miniDV tape. I just mounted it to the shoe on top by the handle. If you want more pics pm me

may we, as a specie, be blessed with another winter, thank you

Yes I second this I saw all the vids of the 15-18's I was against all year throwing down and it was absolutely insane to watch. I remember at the Aspen comp everyone and even the parents were talking about the cork 7 that some kid landed and all the huge sends. Definitely the one of the most talked about jr. ifsa comps this year.

Thanks dude, looks like I’m gonna get hooked up with some dope employee housing!

Current employee housing does seem really sick. Stoked to have you back!

I'm still a little sus after getting a really janky spot in 2017, and watching all my homies deal with the gongshow shacks at TVR in 2019, but all my Driggs homies are saying that its solid this year, so I'm gonna send it. And thanks dude, so excited to shred this winter!

I’m linking up with the outreach program that taught me to ski as a kid to start an after school ski club at my job. Afternoon and night laps while we teach kids to ski and ride should be fun.

Well as my season starts wrapping up, hope you’re all frothing. First season back in a few years and god I’ve missed skiing.

Just got back from the mountains down here. Job working in Nozawa is looking very likely, just gotta deal with visa stuff. Super excited as i get to spend December-March in Japan, and the job gives me free accommodation, lift ticket, food and wifi etc. Decent gig coming straight out of high school

I swear the Southern Hemisphere season seems so short. It always sounds like it’s just getting going down there and then it’s already wrapping up. What months is it typically?

Season is usually June through to September but June is pretty shit, July is hit and miss, end of July through to August is the peak, and September is slowly wrapping things up.

It doesn’t help that we get fuck all snow and once September hits it starts melting.

I cant wait to ski i'm so stoked. moving from bmbw to perfect north and I couldnt be more excited. Pair that with some new Vs on the way and its gonna be a good season. the only problem is I don't have a car anymore so getting there could be a little difficult but idc i'm dummy hyped

stoked as fuck to spend my first winter in montana. also rly excited to use my wides that i bought this spring. got a cast set up for em and im hella excited to get some self powered turns in

also excited to lock in my b2's and get some combos on rails going this season

Got to ski rails yesterday at a preseason event at trollhaugen on snow they saved and insulated from last year. Was so much fun but has me itching for the real thing now. Really hoping for places to open first week of November here in MN

god am I jealous of northern midwest skiers

Holy fuck that's some crackhead shit lmao. I love it

Hahaha 17th year they’ve held this event. They push a bunch of snow together at the end of each season and insulate it with a layer of hay and then put a tarp over it and basically refrigerates itself over the summer

its actually a really good setup too, Troll knows how to put on a good event. This was only about half the snow they had saved they said

Good lord that’s way more snow than I was expecting
