2016/2017 NFL Thread

The Packers have been so disappointing in the playoffs my whole life. I don't even feel like watching these games anymore.

He's got some stiff competition this year. Not playing the first 4 games hurts him.

Tom Brady only cares about Super Bowl mvps anyway. I don't know how an equipment violation (not implying there even was one) and an unprecedented 4 game suspension would result in hurting his MVP stock but that's just me

He played less games, 4 games where his performance is unknown. Thats what hurts him, he has 10 less TDs than the leader right now (matt ryan) and he could've had 38-40 tds if he actually played, but he was suspended so that hurts him. Its the unknown that will lose brady the MVP this year, if he loses.

If it's all about numbers then how come David Johnson isn't even being talked about? Tom Brady took a team that was struggling thoroughly on defense in the pats and took control of the offense and went 11-1 and had the best td int ratio of any qb ever. But yeah let's give it to the NFC south (which is consistently one of the worst divisions in the nfl) qb who has a pretty poor defense barring Vic Beasley and went 11-5

You're clearly a TB12 fan, thats fine.

Brady is still in the running. DJ isnt getting a nod cause his team sucks, which is just how it goes. A MVP brings their team up, in this case maybe Bill Belichick should win MVP.

There is no doubt TB12 is top 3 for MVP, but I dont think he will win because of many factors, one being he played 4 less games, which regardless if it was "fair" doesnt matter. You NE fans need to realize that it doesnt matter if it was fair, it happened, get over it.

If you wanna talk about a guy bringing a team back, its Rodgers not Brady. The Pats never struggled, theyre the best fucking team in the NFL dude.

I'm a big matty ice guy as well so it's not even like I'm that biased. Agreed with Rodgers tho dude has been fire last 2 months. Will refuse to concede the fair card when the NFL shows some level of parity and punishes players and teams equally and stops engaging in witch hunts to bring down the greatest sports team, player, and organization in history

Yeah but still, it doesn't matter. Even if its the most unfair punishment, he still didn't play 4 games, the reason doesn't matter, thats not factored into the MVP. Brady doesn't win an MVP because he had an unfair suspension and did get the chance to really prove his value. The Pats won 3 games without him, they then only lost to seattle in what would be considered a classic "fluke" nfl game that happens to every team.

The pats don't "need" brady lets be honest here... TB12 adds to their team sure and if they win the superbowl it will be because of him, but where would the pats be without blount? gronk?(maybe not this year) or edelman? You think brady is the only one who can pass to these guys? No, but he does do a great job of it and the defense helped too, which was #8 overall this year BTW. Brady didn't do what Ryan or Rodgers did, which is why he wont win.

Edelman, Blount and even Gronk are 1000x more replaceable than the golden god tb12

You could replace TB12 with any other top 12 QB and they'd still win the superbowl.

Belichick is the golden god here, lets just be honest.

The Seahawks vs patriots wasn't a "fluke" we would have beat them in the super bowl to if it wasn't for the interception that ended the game. The patriots aren't immortal stop thinking that.

I know I'm talking about this year also. It wasn't a fluke Seahawks are contenders man! Although we have lost some good players before going into the playoffs so who knows. When we played the patriots are team was healthy it was no fluke

Lets go baby so pumped for football this weekend. Felt like it has been too long with no mon/thurs night

Picks

Oakland + 130

Khalil Mack has a field day and puts the fear of God into Brock Osw-no eye-ler and Brock gets sacked atleast 6 times and throws 2+ ints. See you in Foxboro next week Cook.

Detroit +355

Yea Seattle will probably pull out some sort of lucky last stitch effort off pure but who doesnt hate those annoying 12th man fans and gotta root for the underdogs for maximum cash.

Pittsburgh -420

Last time it was the Jay Ajayi show, this time its the James Harrison and Leveon show.

Green Bay -190

Sorry New York as much as I would love to see the Pats play the Giants in the SB again, their ELi streak comes to an end Sunday. Welcome back Clay Matthews and Jordy Nelson we'll see you in Houston.

wont blame it on the refs because 26-6 means the lions did not want to win but seeing Stafford get picked up by his legs and slammed on his head well after the whistle blew with no flag definitely says something is up.

oh well. fuck Detroit, fuck the shithawks, and I hope dallas bends you guys over and fucks you dry in the ass.

im gonna go ski some pow.

I mean, the lions got their asses handed to them, a couple penalties wouldn't change anything. They were clearly not ready for a good team, just like when they played the packers.

True. Lions dropped way too many passes to even complain about a few calls

The Packers defense is the reason Rodgers doesn't have 4 rings. He sets up the victories, and the defense blows it for him.

Look it up yourself, you bum. Rodgers can escape pressure and zip the ball 40 yards into triple coverage on the run. Brady can't do shit when he is about to get sacked.

Yea my buddy and I were able to get tix for around 100 each so it was a no brainer. The atmosphere was very calm. There didn't seem to be any doubt about the Steelers dominating. It was awesome.

It was a rhetorical question.

You can't be GOAT when you're 7-6 in the playoffs.

Yah was just about to pull this shit up. Not to mention the amount of time Rodgers gets on each pass, the amount of luck (he's completed 3/5 hail Marie's in the past two seasons), and depth on offense compared to Pats.

Exactly. The defense argument is BS. I get it, football is a team game, but a QB who is being thrown around as the GOAT should be able to overcome these minor differences.

If you're talking about the Saints and Brees however, that is an entirely different issue. Poor guy has been fucked over by the FO.

I really don't think you understand all the intangibles that goes into being a quarterback. Sure Rodgers has every bit of talent and can run and throw on the run like no qb in history his vision and decision making are clearly lacking to tom Brady. Also blame it on the defense but you know what they say great offense makes it that much easier to have a good defense due to stats like time of possession, turnovers, field position, ppg

I have a good feeling about this one, boys.

Packers can get tricky when they play a team for the second time that beat them earlier.

Divisional: Patriots over Texans, Steelers over Chiefs, Falcons over Seahawks, Packers over Cowboys.

Conference Champs: Patriots over Steelers and Packers over Falcons

Super Bowl: Patriots over Packers

Perfect so far

Pretty disappointing playoffs as a whole besides two games (Pack/Boys and Steelers/Chiefs). Hoping that the Super Bowl is a high scoring shootout coming down to the wire. As much as I'd love to see Matty Ice get a ring, the Tom Brady vengeance tour is down right scary. I want the Falcons to win, but I think Brady and Hoganmania pull this one off. I think any football fan would love to see Goodell sweat it out handing Tommy the Lombardi. #FireGoodell

ya it was great watching the fudgepackers get stomped. But i agree, not many good nail biting playoff games like were used to seeing. hopefully we get an exciting game out of the super bowl. rooting for the falcons but would really be fine with either one winning. Id also love to see goodell hand the lombardi and or mvp over to brady

Ohhh okay, that makes sense why you liked that game now. Haha I think everyone finally believed the hype of Matt Ryan, Julio and freeman/Coleman. Should be a good game, but I'd put my money on the pats.
