2014/2015 gear thread

I think those two black spring loaded tabs in the toe pieces are for easy step in, you hit them with your boot and boom youre locked in..

A heel piece with forward presure like normal bindings is pretty new for tech bindings..

For the rest this is no real game changer.. It does not have any sort of safetey release or travel in the toes (like Dynafit Beast of Fritschi Diamir Viper/Vipec/Zenith whatever they decided to call it..)

So its a good looking tech binding with an easy step in and forward presure..but thats it.. This is no competition for the Beast or Fritschi really..

Pretty much the fact that it now has forward pressure like an alpine bindings. Dynafits for example do not have a forward pressure and that is why over flexing of the ski could cause pre releases. The beast from dynafit had a forward pressure and it looks like the g3 is going a similar direction. It's i think the most exciting area of binding development at the moment.

Ok, but how much does it weight, and how much will it cost? If the binding's new settings make it heavier than before, will it have mass appeal? And, if it costs $1000 like the beast does, I'll pass.

Yeah the cost I the issue at the moment but if there is completion to the beast it will drive development which may mean more models an hopefully cheaper prices. Hopefully salomons new binding can further help this too.

I dont....?

But they do have Greg Hill + a lot of their riders use Dynafits. There has been quite some talk about Salomon working on a tech binding since they got Greg Hill on the team. Also Greg does not have a binding sponsor, that is surprising for a guy like him.. Than again, nobody has any real proof about Salomon working on a tech binding. But it would surprise me if they are not working on a tech style binding.

Would seriously surprised the hell out of me to. If Tom says it's happening at Salomon, its super likely that it's happening.

In Henrik's "Mammoth Dec 5" news article on the homepage there is a good picture of the new b-dog suit and mittens… I believe could be wrong though

Found out today from my boss that i should be able to get a cheap/free ticket to the ispo in munich in january so might acctually be able to contribute to this thread soon. Go me!

Chris himself just confirmed (on instagrm) that he's using a new bc. Not sure they're skinnier.

chrisbenchetler @theoldc new bent protos. Loving them...

chrisbenchetler @m1x89 it is a new bc.

Are the Candides discontinued next year or not? THe Faction TM said they were earlier this year but she could be completely wrong.

If Candide stays with Faction why would they discontinue his Pro model? Maybe he gets an entire new model, thats seems more logic.. His models now are updated versions of other skis in their line-up right?

Hopefully ns will be stoked by these. It's a real improvement over the spk but keeps the features which made the spk a great park boot.

This thread showed so much promise early on, but now is falling behind the curve. SIA is a littl more than a month away - we should be up to ten pages by then. Start sharing! As for me, I've got nothing - sorry.
