2013-2014 gear

I posted it because it's new. that's the point of the thread, not just things you think will be stoke-worthy.

Can't wait to see the stuff in person this weekend at ISPO - the graphics pop so much more in person.

Antigens looking sick and love the redesigned AAAtack binding from Tyrolia.

surface swaps are much easier to do/control, shuffles and proper presses are much easier, initiating butters is easier, ollieing (not popping) is easier. Surfy style slashes and turns are easier and more fun, there is quite a long list. Not saying you can't do those things on rocker/camber/rocker and even cambered skis but if they are your priority, flat w/rocker is best.

There are also obvious downsides, i tend to go with rocker/camber/rocker but soft as the best compromise but i can definitely see the appeal of flat skis.

Flat ski with a little rocker in the tips would be ideal.. But anyways the benefits are the same as for a snowboard: you get the advantages of reverse camber with the control of traditional camber. I'm not going to go into more detail because you can go find out for yourself. Basically every snowboard company has at least one if not several flat models, get with it.

agreed. im really looking forward to see next years orage, saga, and armada outerwear. also looking forward to see what bloom has. and lethal descent. im excited for everything haha

not true at all, it's also better in pow, if what you want to do is play, i also think it's a ton of fun for all mountain, if thats what you want (to have fun).

Like I said I currently ride soft Rocker/Camber/Rockers (Blends) and they seem to give 90% of the benefits of flat/rocker without a significant proportion of the downsides. But lots of people like flat/rocker better, I know Blindside is one. I like flat/rocker more but I find i get a lot of calfbang with them and the support of a little camber helps that for whatever reason.

You didn't go find out for yourself did you.

Once again Twig to the rescue. Thank him for taking the time to answer your pretentiously uninformed comments.

Thank you Twig!

Now let's get back to new gear.

Wrong

They feel completely dead everywhere.

As far as snowboards go its the same, and I have a lot of people that can attest to that.

Flat is fun in the park, but just feels dead everywhere else.

Some people might find it fun, but I find it floppy and miserable

You say snowboarding "gets it" and i need to "get with it". twig himself said he skis rocker camber rocker as it is 90% the same without the downsides. if flat skis are so good for playing in pow why wouldnt someone like eric pollard make his ski completely flat? why does k2 make flat snowboards, and sean petits skis have some of the heaviest camber in a pow board? camber is a ski technology. if you have a camber snowboard and you stand on the screw pattern there is going to be camber between your legs that is much harder to initiate then a ski camber which has no where to go when you stand directly on top of it.

there is no positive of having a flat ski with rocker when you could have a camber ski with rocker.

now lets get back to new gear.

he speaks wisdom!!! i have the domains right now and they have rocker but like no camber at all because there jib rocker technology and i get no pop and they feel dead to me ! flat skis in my idea wont be a fun ski with pop

yep both gone. there are 3 skis now called shreditors, one of them has the same specs as kung fujas, one is sean petits pro model, and there is one other one. fattest ski in freestyle line is the petitor

i was at my shop the other day and he showed me pictures and the catalog of k2s skis and they are so sick this year all the graphics and everything! and hes right they dropped those skis

This. I've got park skis, I ski park on them, if I want to ski groomers, I'd take different skis.

I had moment rockets for a season, flat underfoot with rocker tip and tail. They were some of the most fun I've had on skis.

Got a peak at those new orange Lines this morning on the bus to the mountain, seemed pretty sick. Also the dude was wearing what looked like next years Orage that was in the latest Freeskier. Looked terrible.

I have been re-trolled. I remember seeing it a while back and clicking on it and getting a Step Brothers clip. But I forgot about it I guess

Pollard did, the EP Pro was flat underfoot, noodle soft and massively rockered. It was tons of fun, not to everyones taste but it had it's fans.

As to why the Opus is rocker/camber/rocker... it was designed to be more versatile that is clear. Pollard skis more big lines now etc that is a reason for sure, mixed camber is better for that. I also suspect that the EP Pro was being outsold by skis like the Bentchetler and the JJ by a massive amount, so I would suggest there was some pressure for Line/Pollard to come out with a similar ski. A lot more people want a versatile ski than a ski that really has a single purpose, mini-golfing and skiing switch in pow. There is no question at all that the original EP was better for that single task than the Opus or any similar ski. It's a limited market and that's why flat skis are becoming rare. But in my opinion and clearly Blindside's they have a place in the market for the skier that just wants to play. That may not be you or or any other detractors. Not even me currently but injuries are the reason I'm on rocker/camber/rocker not because i prefer it. I'd rather ski a flat ski. Nobody is wrong in this situation, they just want different things.
