The Atomic Punx, came to our shop today. Here are some pictures of the rocker, topsheet and base. I think it looks awesome. It is a bit stiffer than this years, and have 10% tip and tail rocker.

does anyone else think edollo looks absurd? dont get me wrong i respect him for what he does, and how good he is. but he looks silly.
 
Did they change the sizes at all is there a

size between 173 and 182? Or no... they look mad nice next years punx !
 
fucking stupid. I can't wait till every park ski has rocker on it. Good god. The only good thing atomic had going for them AND THEY FUCKERED IT UP
 
Pretty much, rossi put 10% tip/tail in next years scratch too. I don't even get the point of that little rocker, such a marketing gimic.
 
This. I can't stand this whole rockered park ski thing. I don't understand it either. Like honestly.
 
Atomic have not sent any information out yet, so we actually don't know anything yet. But my own guess would be that the go for the same sizes as they got now.
 
less "hook" entering/exiting carves, buttering, setting spins, looser feel for slashes, while really not sacrificing anything as far as stability goes

what is it about camber you like so much? it's not like these skis don't have any camber, they just have a slight amount of rocker.
 
Those goggles are fucking idiotic. I'm not sure why people clamor for goggle designs that are clearly a step back. Dragon has done the same thing this year.
 
The skis i've skied with any amount of mustache rocker, have been fun on rails, but after i get over say 30 mph the ski just handles like pure shit. Especcially switch riding. I don't know.

When i ski park, i hit a lot of jumps. Mostly jumps actually. And around here a 70 foot jump isn't rare. With the rocker i find it insanely hard to carve at high speeds, especially off lips. And when landing on a rockered park ski i washed out a lot.

Now i'm not saying "oh stop making rockered park skis" Because they are fun on rails, and for people who don't hit jumps very often. But it sucks when i want to buy a stiff fully cambered park ski and can't find one that I like. I love the pop that comes from a cambered ski, the carves, the way the ski preforms in the park is better for my style. (if that makes sense) The Atomic Punx is a fucking legit ski. I wanted this years so god damn badly, but now that they have rocker, i might as well go with the volkl wall or the new ON3P ski (which i will)
 
The key to rockered skis in general is a stiff flex and torsional rigidity, punx are pretty soft, and even if they stiffen it up a bit they will still be a 'softer' ski.
 
I can't believe they rockered the punx! I don't understand why they did this move, since they are releasing the infamous ski that also has rocker.

I feel like they should have one ski with rocker and one with traditional camber.
 
goggle companies are just making goggles that are too damn big. the frame height of those goggles is retarded.

all you really need is some top-to-bottom and then width is what really matters for peripheral vision.
 
Let me chime in here and clear some things up before someone has an aneurysm. Basically our park ski range for next year is split into 2 segments- buttery jib friendly goodness (Infamous) and super light playful yet stable competition ski (Punx). Both are entirely new constructions but fully living up to their desired purposes. We would never release a park ski that our athletes weren't 100% stoked on and these 2 skis are exactly what the guys ask for and wanted. Punx will still be super light and poppy, but leaning slightly more towards a comp ski, while Infamous is the jib stick with a bit more rocker. The rocker that is in the Punx is just enough to make it catch less on butters but still carve and be stable on landings- Gus' latest Nike edit pretty much shows this. If it wasn't, then he, Andreas, Jossi (in pipe), Byron, Elias, etc wouldn't be skiing it. All of the guys are super stoked on the new sticks and once you guys get the chance to try them out, I'm sure you'll feel the same way.
 
Well I got the new Punx in my hands yesterday, and I am super stoked for the new design. The rocker is just 10%, so it still got 80% camber. I can't wait to try it out.
 
Statements like these from ski comapnies (you work for atomic) amaze me.. You simple cant say that every year.. Why not? Because a lot of designs will still change, and why, because riders/athletes are not 100% satisfied, new ideas pop up, new technologies, you might want to spread changes over a few years to get more money out of it etc etc..

Be honest and say this is what we've come up with this year, riders wanted this, we wanted it to be like this, the market needs this, we blended it, tested it, maybe changend some details, tested again, stayed close to our concept ideas (like you explained) and thats it..we give you these skis..

You probably are already working on next years skis and thats fine, thats how it works, but just be honest about the process and dont say this is the best desing ever, this is exactly what they wanted, etc etc..

my brother had the punx last year and after half a season they had a full pow rocker to them and those were traditional camber skis. haha I cant imagine whats going to happen to the new ones once they get used.
