2013-2014 gear

word thanks man that video made it make more sense with the pivot heel sort of, i took it as one way its a traditional binding then turn it 180 and you can skin in it? but isnt that the same as what like the baron or duke (i forget which one was the touring model) or the guardian does? is the dynafit just another brand that does the same thing or is there something different about these?

also if they can make a binding so small and light thats safe enough to do big mountain bc stuff that you would access by touring in a dynafit, then why are all normal bindings so big and heavy?

To answer all your questions:

Yes it is for touring just like the Baron and duke and fritschi and guardian. However, it is much lighter and has a closer pivot point which feels more natural. They are ideal for someone who tours a lot.

But all this awesomeness comes at a price. They lack the ability to adjust the din on the toe piece and have a low din on the heel. They aren't as trustworthy as say a pair of guardians. The reason one would buy guardians over these is because they are reliable and function like a normal binding, meaning they eject you laterally and are easier on your knees in a crash. Some of what i said might seem opinionated but that's it in a nutshell. Sorry for any misspellings I'm on mobile.

I agree that something like the Guardians (and the Dukes to a lesser extent) are more durable when it comes to everyday lift serve pounding. I have skied Fritschis, Dukes, MFD/FKS, and Dynafit both in bounds and out, and I agree that it may seem dicey to trust that little tech binding to stomp that landing or pound out that mogul run.

For skinning, I will take my Dynafits, hands down. It is so much easier not just because of the weight, but also because of the pivot point being at the toe like you mentioned. It is a very natural motion and doesn't tire me out as quickly. I have trusted my Dynafit on a dozen lift serve days this year, but I wouldn't take them out unless the snow is soft and deep; the less hard impacts the better. I have sent some 20 footers though no problem and they have gained my trust (I don't lock them out either).

Hopefully the Beast will serve as a starting point for the bridge from tech bindings into everyday bindings.

infamous is for sure, what are the main differences between the two, obviosly the infamous is not out but from what has been released what are the main things that seperate the two (question to erbody)

Salomon Driver STH2. Basically a guardian heelpiece with a driver toe piece. Just has a wider mounting stance for fat pow skis from what I understand.

I can only imagine reduced heel play; as that is what I notice as I compare my Guardians and STH 16s side by side right now.

Saweet!
