So its that time of year. Idea stolen from Grarwhale on TGR or whoever's idea it was. But I figure theres tons of sick shit going on with in the membership of this site everyday out in the mountains arround utah, so post it up. If you notice some avy obs post that up too.

^II will hit you up if were rallying. Were not gona go unless the alta collins snow stake goes above 20' by 5 or 6 am. Hopefully that abount would fill in main chute.

are you sure this isn't the blab about storms and who wants to ski with me thread?

stoked

Dont let LUFFY ski main

it was trackheads idea on tgr that he stole from wow on teletippers 4wiw

Alta was fun as hell this AM. Hit a few rocks but no core shots. Some real nice wind drift shots in a few places. Let the season begin!

Yeah that woulda been nice to have... but I was desperate to ski so I just bootpacked it. Thinking about putting Dukes on my new setup so I can get into the BCC backcountry scene.

Canyons billboard thankfully down, Tanner is back looking out over the Cottonwoods

Beginning to look a lot like winter in LCC

The snow did not suck

Mostly crappy cameraphone shots, but you get the idea. Fun morning.

^For sure Dibs, I dident know who started it. Humm that was a short lived bilboard for The Canyons at the 7-eleven.

Nice shots.. How was the coverage up by the ballroom , anyone get up into main chute. Mabey with the wind we recived from that storm that it might have filled in..

highly, highly doubtful. it looked like someone might have gotten some decent turns up on the shoulder but there wasn't too much snow.

Nov 6th...

Pretty crowded for a place that isn't even open yet

Def hit some rocks, but still awesome

Day 2 in the books...

I poked around the upper parts of Silver Fork this morning. There is about a 65cm base on N aspects around 10k. Did a few quick CT's pulling out at CT16 Q1 and CT18 Q1 on the weak old snow from October. Pray for snow!!

I have met many people through this site who were far more backcountry savvy than myself. Not everyone on here is a 14 year old park rat.

cannot stress this enough: be careful up there. probably the most active day avy wise i've seen in 3 sesons out here. people being totally oblivious to any and all warning signs all over LCC, seems like people just had no clue what was going on, had not checked weather, UAC reports or anything else. hoping the most recent report of a slide at snowbird turns out to be better than the UAC's quick report made it sound.

Today remiended me of that day a few years ago when that avy happened on the high baldy area of the bird and killed that person. Stuff was ripping out all over just like today and a simmilar errie vibe in LCC as today.

yeah, today was wild up there. I'll admit, I underestimated the power of this recent storm sharing the same, "it's only November with a total of about 16 inches so far" mentality. Once we dropped in Punchbowl at Alta, and continued down I realized there is some serious activity.

really unfortunate about the dude who died at the Bird.

I'm really hoping this isn't foreshadowing what the season will be like. The thought of a season like we had a few back when everything broke down to the very first snow layer is scary.

Scary amount of activity op there for sure. Felt a scary number of settling snow 'thuds'
RIP to the guy at the bird

Very sad news. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

I was up at Alta with Heff this morning getting some turns in and we personally didn't have any issues. After getting back to the car we were stoked on having a good day skinning. Now looking back it is really scary seeing how much activity there was today and how close we were to some of it. I agree with what Fahey said, we were aware of potential danger and toned it down to some extent, but not as much as we should have. I feel really lucky right now.

alta, for the most part, was fine. the slopes that get skied all the time, punch bowl, wildcat etc were not going to go big if at all. anything that picks up wind and hasn't had tons of skier compaction is what was going to slide, hearing about the gunsight slide was not surprising in the least. we made good conservative calls after seeing what happened to the snowpack over the last week or for that i am thankful.

Really sad to hear. I'm really tempted to buy a beacon shovel and transmitter and take some classes. Even though I ski mostly in bounds, I wanna be prepared for when shit hits the fan. RIP & SIP JP. You were one dude who loved livin' life and had the utmost love for skiing. You will be greatly missed.

I didn't see the date on this, and got all stoked, checked NOAA, and was sorely disappointed.

Today was great! Alta had more than I had expected, but it's still super bare.

c'mon snow!
