2011-2012 English Premier League

Best has had some pretty good showings, but I don't see him as a night in night out threat. Ameobi is somewhat past his prime, and looks lazy half the time out there... I still love him though... he's always been loyal to the club and has the record for most goals against the mackems haha.

Still.. we need a striker. Even more than a left back, i'd say...

I mean Alex is a beast but if it comes down to it I'd rather Ivanovic and it seems AVB thinks the other way. He's coming towards the end of his career but I'd hate to lose his bullet free kicks.

And yes Mata is a great signing I hope to see some new faces in the squad soon with Mata, Lukaku playing. The only bad thing I've seen from McEachran is that he has no physical presence but truly all he needs is the experience, so if we're not gonna break him into the squad at least loan him out where somebody will use him. I was also excited about the possibility of signing De Bruyne, he looks like a real prospect.

But certainly I think when it comes down to it Arsenal will probably lose their Champions League spot next year, with the top 4 being Manchester City/United, Chelsea, and probably Liverpool.

m'villa would be an unbelievable signing for arsenal. I think having now fully qualified for the CL will make a difference in regards to any possible transfers.

Unfortunately we just have a habit of cleaning house in the midfield every few years. Should've never sold hleb and flamini...and now nasri and fabregas. Though nasri...what an ass. Moved to city "due to the fan's passion." That's like saying you want to move to chelsea because you feel bad that roman abramovich is so poor. It's bullshit and makes no sense. Remember all those man city fans 4 years ago? Me neither.

Call me an asshole all you want, but I personally get joy out of seeing clubs go bankrupt, particularly when a high roller owner screws them over. Football is like every other facet of life...don't live beyond your means.

and by the way...how shit is de gea? Unless he shapes up quick he risks being a flop for united. I actually feel more comfortable with szczesny than i did with lehmann at times.

The same thing I thought of him when he was at Man city?

A very talented player who's antics are stupidly brilliant due to how they get in the head of other players.

He's like an instigator in hockey, only he's a pretty damn quality player instead of a 4th liner who can barely skate.

Yeah, his hands were tied, Newcastle's being a penny pincher...

I wish we would have kept him... but hopefully the depth of guys we have at midfield can make up for losing him.

3-1

After Bosingwa's goal they looked lousy, then when Norwich scored they started to pick it up. Good to see new faces though, I like what I've seen so far with Lukaku and Mata.

Still hoping McEachran can get in there.

I'm going to call it now, and I know its a big call but top 3:

1. Man City

2. Liverpool

3. Man utd

Now I'm sure lots of you won't agree, but for me I think thats how it will go

Yeah.. no.

I know I'm a Chelsea fan but Chelsea not even top 3? Liverpool in second?

City and Liverpool look good so far but it's been three games, they're bound to choke.

So far Chelsea had been disappointing for me, they shouldn't have had the trouble they did with West Brom. Man City is doing good, and Man U always does good. I think Liverpool won't do that great, they have a good team but they won't be able to take Chelsea or Man City in the end.

I think Chelsea are just too old, and you really rely on players like Lampard, you're lucky he hasn't been injured for long periods. Where as the depth of the city and Liverpool squads, they both have settled in managers and everyone backs them. Where as AVB, always has the threat of being sacked over him.

well...losing, but looking a bit better now.

And if nothing else, the Arsenal away fans have outsung old trafford for the last 10 minutes.

Man United are destroying Arsenal, I'm only reading an online minute by minute thing, but it sounds like Arsenal have lost it. Dzeko is a goal machine for City, insane.

just finished watching Man U Arsenal game. Fuck the gunners.
Also, shoutout to my boy George John for getting a contract from FC Dallas to Blackburn!

eh hardly. If man utd played like that against Chelsea, Man City or maybe even liverpool, they'd probably either just scrape out a win or probably draw.

You have to keep in mind that they were playing against arguably the worst Arsenal defense since the 60s.

I've also noticed that only north americans who support man utd and barca use the term dirty. Literally no one else does.

Im a very depressed fan right now, the past couple years have been a little disappointing for me. I first became a fan when this wonderful man brought arsenal some of its best days.

i think you need to look back at the last 15 years of EPL and tell me who has dominated before making remarks about man utd playing well and scraping a win or a draw against city or liverpool. Where were you when the charity sheild was on the week before last ??

We take football (soccer) very seriously here so get some knowledge and then say your peace.

So far, I'm impressed with the lads on their ability to keep on getting 3 points. Howay!

Now 2 weeks off to prepare for Joey Barton lol.

Agreed that wenger has lost it. I'll elaborate on my other points some other time, im currently without power and have low battery. In short I just meant that chelsea city or liverpool will not be as easy, and man utd did not play a perfect game. Tottenham scored 9 against

Lampard is an experienced player, something that almost any good team has. Also coming through is 18 year old Josh McEachran that is a suitable replacement in the near future if Lampards form drops.
Depth? City has a plethora of CM's but really nothing much else. Liverpool has a lot of new young players that are not world-class or proven.
Any manager has a threat of being sacked depending on their performance. I think AVB has been given 100% support and whatever he wants from Abramovich, will get done. If anything a rough start has been beneficial for Chelsea to see where improvemnets need to be made which is where the Lukaku, Romeu, Mata, Davila signings come to play.

I wouldn't say he's lost it... but I would say that every top player on his club keeps wanting to leave every other year... and that CANNOT be a good thing...

From Henry, to Fabregas, to Viera, theres been this distraction that all ends at the finale of the Transfer window, and theres not enough time to make up for that loss.

Whether that's Wenger's fault, or whether it has more to do with players thinking 'greener pastures in Spain' is a question I'd ask...

it's been 15 years of pretty damn solid, if not unstoppable play for Arsenal.. its about time they have an "off year" if you will... They're still incredible...

Yeah it wasn't even an impressive performance from United. Arsene is relying too much on his youth, he needs to quit his whole "I can buy unknown players and mould them into Arsenal superstars" act and buy somebody that is proven good.

And the majority of North American Barca/United supporters are a joke.

And to alztar, Lampards and Terry's experience is an important part of the team. Lampard is obviously getting to the point where he is way past his prime but regardless there are many replacements and a lot of money at Chelsea's disposal should either of them start playing poorly.

You're an idiot dude. I would say United scraped out a win against City in the Charity shield.

Look at the last 15 years? Chelsea have also had their fair share of league and FA wins.

Arsenal has the worst defensive game I had seen in many many years. What he was trying to say is it's not going to be a walk in the park if you are playing a team with a solid defense like City or Chelsea. The game against Arsenal was not a true reflection of United's ability because honestly many teams could tear apart a bunch of 20 year old premier league newcomers.

"I'm a United fan" in North America is almost like saying "I'm a Steelers fan becuase they've won the most Superbowls." Support a team for a reason not just because they've dominated over the last 2 decades.

but if you look at uniteds team on the weekend there was not a player who was over the age of 25! Thats pretty impressive still to have gone out and beaten one of the top clubs in England and just gotten and maybe you didnt realise that Arsenal just got into the group stages of the Champions League with all those players! ! Chelsea did win a few titles but have no where near dominated as much as man utd have done!

Someone who's a ManU or Barca supporter in the States is like being a Yankees or Lakers fan, having never set foot in New York or LA...

I actually have a reason to support Newcastle other than "They win all the time".

In the USA, everyone loves a winner...

Excactly, I mean you don't support a Championship team for no reason. If Chelsea was demoted no doubt I'd still be the biggest fan. For the majority of Americans it's "Lionel Messi is awesome I love Barca they win the Champions league" shit like that. You don't just support a team because a good player you like is on it, I'll never understand that.

Yeah its the same thing it's always been... in the 1980's everyone was a 49er fan because they liked Joe Montana... Today, they all like the Colts or the Pats for pretty much the same reason - they want to put their mouth on the top QB's scrotum...

in Baseball, everyone's a Yankees or a Redsox fan... because either they love the team that has the most money and wins the most, or they want to hate that team... so they claim their family is from Boston somehow, and decide theyre going to be a Sox fan for basically no reason.

in Basketball... in the 80's it was Bird or Johnson... in the 90's it was Jordan, and in today's world, its back to what's effectively Bird or Johnson with Kobe vs Garnet/Pierce/Allen.... Oh, then there's Miami, but everyone hates Lebron now because he chased money and nice weather like anyone else would lol.

The Champions League is overrated as fuck IMO. It's just a bunch of superstars showing off how many hot babes they fuck because they are metrosexual crybabies... I'd rather watch the Europa League... its so much more interesting seeing a match vs some small Eastern European club who has a support that burns their stadium down than it is watching a bunch of psudofans golf-clap their team to victory... since only those fans can afford the gratuitous cost of a Champions League match...

Yeah that's pretty true. Although the quality of football isn't as good as the Champions League the Europa League sure is a lot more exciting, and what I like most is less diving. Year after year I have to see teams cheat their way to become "The best team in Europe." Then whoever wins Champions league is now everybodys new favourite team.

Not to mentions EUFA does not want two English teams in the finals, and all the draws IMO are fixed. It's like they want to see the same old Barcelona Vs Manchester fixture every year.

the fact that the redsox and celtics are actually good now sucks, because i have been a fan since birth of both teams. when it comes to premier league, i love stoke city. i love how they play, i love how they are incredibly physical, and stun teams. long throws and large hits.

I hate how Stoke City play, so defensive, whole game revolves around throw-ins, some players are extreme dirtbags. The only thing I like is their physicality (exception Shawcross). Despite what commentators say, Delap is useless other than his throw, he would be Championship quality at best.

But congrats on movin to first in the fantasy league I believe that's you.

Still bitter about what happened in Moscow?

None-the-less... I hate FIFA and UEFA. Both are corrupt as shit, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was some serious matchfixing goin on behind the scenes a-la NBA style.

And here's the thing... I dont even hate ManU or Barca... I really only hate Sunderland Mackem cunts. The rest of the clubs are just Wankers who I hope we beat.

Barca's really becoming annoying though... All of a sudden everyone's Spanish? Please... It's just like those who claim to be Brazilian somehow, or just are a fan of Brazil because they win, yet have NO relation to Brazil and haven't even been there. I kinda wonder how many people would be Dutch all of a sudden if they would have beat Spain last year...

Haha yeah a little bitter. Every year theres something ridiculous that happens in the Champion's League. And agreed, both associations are seriously fucked.

I truly don't hate United for anything other than winning the prem, beating us, etc. But Barca is another story. Diving is one of the things I hate the most in the sport and they (as well as Spain which is basically Barca's team plus Messi) dive to no end.

And yeah I've been in a lot of arguments about supporting National teams. "My parents are Trinidadian and I'm Canadian but I support Brazil because it has a large Brazilian population." Or "Yeah I've been supporting Brazil ever since I was little." What? Since 2002 when they won the WC. Or all the Spanish bandwagoners since their success in the Euro, then when the WC comes they've all been fans for years.

I mean, I get it if you have like a Brazilian background but you were born in North America, but people who just make up nonsense piss me off. Sometimes I understand in the Club situation where people say "I like the way they play" but with a country it's totally different.

Yeah, the Spanish game is very much infused with that italian style "flip flop for freekicks" sort of game... same with the Portuguese... It's pathetic.

The Germans rarely do that... the English rarely do that... the Russians, the Japanese, the Americans... NONE of those countries tend to do that... And what happens when someone from one of those countries dives? CARDED... It's fucking stupid that some players like Messi or... RONALDO especially, can get away with that bullshit.

I understand the whole "I like the way they play" thing, but I don't understand how that makes you "brazillian" all of a sudden. Hell, I LOVE the way the Brazilians play. I love the way the Japanese play. I love the way the Germans play (sometimes)... I especially love the way the Dutch play... (and I despise how the Italians and Argentinians play...)

But I don't turn around, put a German top, and get me Deutsche on just because i like the way they play. If I was ethnically German? Yeah, I could understand that. If I lived there for a few years? or grew up there on a base or something? Yeah, totally can see that. but hell no.. I'd never take my Dutch-Irish-English-Scottish-Viking ass, who's never set foot in Brazil or Africa or Spain, and claim I'm one of them...

(On that note... I really was disappointed with how the Dutch played in the final... Robben was busting out his inner-italian for some reason and I wanted to slap every one of them... If they're going to dive, don't dive back... just go all El Salvador 1982 on their asses and break their faces)

Barca always seem to have the favor of the refs in the CL. The game against Chelsea a couple years ago, there were 4 incidents where there should have been a penalty/red card against Barca. Last year, when Barca played Real, the red card against Pepe was a fucking joke. Pepe didn't even touch Alves and yet he falls to ground as if he broke his leg. Additionally against Arsenal last year, van Persie's second yellow card for "time wasting" was ridiculous. He took the shot a second after the ref blew the whistle as if he could hear it in the first place at Camp Nou.

It also pisses me off how their whole team crowds the ref after every hard challenge.

Yeah it tends to be the South Americans, Italy, Spain, and Portugal are the ones I can single out as regular divers. "Messi doesn't dive" Yeah bullshit I've seen it a million times. There needs to be more regulation on diving, suspensions afterwards if a replay shows a blatant dive. I remember Eduardo Da Silva being suspended after a game for diving against Celtic although in the game a penalty was awarded, that's the way it should be.

And I also like the way many teams play, but to support them although I don't have a spec of that nationality in me is retarded.

As for the WC final, Robben tends to dive a lot anyways, but the Dutch would have gained a lot more respect if they kept diving to a minimum. That way they Spain look ike the assholes for cheating to a WC victory. Truly though the Netherlands should have won it anyways.

And I swear Barcelona have fixed a lot of their matches, and it's easy to get away with because EUFA is so corrupt. I don't know how as a professional you can be proud of yourself by diving. Years of football and never once in my head have I thought about diving, I don't even know how you get started it's just not something that ever crosses my mind.

Reminds me of 2002 WC when South Korea fixed like almost every game to get through. FIFA is also so corrupt it's unbelievable.

I totally agree with the post-match suspension policy if a player has blatantly dived. The only problem is that this rule is rarely implemented because it would expose some of the top teams and players. IMO this is the only way to stop it from happening.

I watched that Celtic match... Laughed because it was so blatent and I was so stoked when I heard Da Silva was suspended for it later...

I feel that replays should DEFINITELY be taken to account - just like how the NHL takes replays into account as far as offering out suspensions for dirty hits, I feel that FIFA should take advantage of the fact that it's the 21st goddamn century, and at least introduce post-game replay stuff. to hand out suspensions. If we can use DNA evidence to prosecute murders in every country on the planet, then why can't we use video replay to suspend some diving cunt in a Serie B match too?

I say they try it out at the top level at least... the leagues themselves can decide whether to adopt it or not... (most will I'm sure - if they don't, they're fixed anyways so fuck em)

Yeah, Robben pisses me off, regardless of the fact that he's really fucking good.

What really pisses me off is that France got into the WC on a double handball by Henry, and then failed to do jack shit in their group. Fucking pathetic. Ireland should have been there, and would have made the world cup far better than that French Soap Opera...
