2010-2011 UEFA Champions League

ya yo, they were both burning guys and just blasting right by them, i was impressed. i liked how the ref was pretty lenient though, he saw past all the BS the average ref wouldve called

Yeah this had to be the most boring round of Champions League in recent memory. Even Man U v. Chelsea was relatively boring.

i hope theres a man u vs real final. two favorite teams and i can't stand barca.

who do you guys think/want?

i know what youre saying. messi is actually unreal though, its fucked how he'll be running at full speed yet he'll still be able to touch the ball as if he was caressing a baby's ass and dangles the fuck out of everyone

yea i think messi is unreal too, but (im probably gonna get some hate for this) I think Cristian Ronaldo is the best in the world yet everyone still hates him because of his"prettyboy" image

there is a reason that everybody likes them right now, they play the most attractive soccer. While most teams stick to game plans of just trying to get one and then pack it in, barca possesses and presses the whole game. I don't think we'll get another chance for many years to see a team play the game the way its supposed to be in such a beautiful and dominating fashion. (this coming from a man u fan)

yes, hes incredibly talented, but he does tend to embellish things a little... i wish soccer players were a bit more like hockey players. instead of diving around like pussies and giving the sport a lot of unnecessary hate, they should value being seen and respected as someone with grit, intensity and passion; someone who will keep running to the ball until someone literally breaks both of their legs, and then even starts crawling to get there after that. fuck all this strategic diving shit just to get a free kick to the side of the field where the player crosses it in only for it to get cleared out by a defender anyways.

i get that they play beautiful soccer. im sick of people who barely watch soccer/know anything about it other than that Spain won the world cup saying they love barca

he's got a point though. i actually know quite a bit of people who dont even watch any soccer games or anything, but still call themselves barca fans, and then every once in a while they happen to see the score of a barca game online or on sports center or something and just see that barca won, they dont even know which team it was against or even what league its in, but theyre like "oh yeaaaaa barca is my team! messi is sooooo good!" pretty fuckin ridiculous if you ask me

thanks you. i play club soccer and everybody is like this since they think they need to follow soccer since they play

absolutely hilarious, more likely. They got put in their place. Congrats for getting this far, but they got spanked all the same.

Oh well, another year and no london team wins the CL. So long as man utd don't win it, i don't care.

Though I would be overjoyed if Schalke somehow managed to come up and snatch the trophy away from some major team. Gotta support the underdog now, especially since I don't care for any of the other remaining teams.

This is off topic, but what do you think of Torres will he ever be in the same form he was.

I wish he would because he was so good. but I think he won't.

So 3/4 on the semi-finals, the only game I thought would be difficult to predict is the one I had wrong.

So that means Schalke vs Man-United, then I give the edge to Man U,

Final stays the same.

FUCK i should have betted.

I agree with those that said they wanted Real in the final. Barecelona and Real have got to play each other 4 times in the next month. (2 champions league games, copa del rey final and a league game this saturday). Real have to beat them in at least one of those games and limit the damage they receive in the noucamp. I love Real's team and the way they play football and i think a Real/Man u final would be way more emphatic that barcelona/Schalke...

I want to see a Man U/Real final, but I think it'll be Man U/Barca again, with Barca probably winning again, though I'd like United to get it.

On a separate note, going to buy my Copa America tickets tomorrow, going to try and get the final, but not sure how likely that is, at least want to see one of Argentinas games.

^I'm not, they must be the most boring team in the world considering the talent they have at their disposal.
Bale just won PFA Player of The Year, what a joke. Other than a hat trick against a terrible Inter team what has this guy done?

Hes a solid player all around and pretty much every time I see him get the ball he did something good with it. That one run he did was so insanely fast.

Who would you have nominated for Poty?

see though, he's really not that effective. He was impressive for bits in the fall, but since then hasn't been terrible, but not poty quality.

I'd say samir nasri, and not just because i'm an Arsenal supporter. The stats just don't lie. Nasri has played more games total, has scored more, has more total shots/shots on goal. Admittedly, he too was much better in the fall than currently.

What else is needed to win poty? 3 goals against inter apparently.

A lot of Man U players are in with a shout: Vidic, Nani (ew), van der Sar, even Berbatov who's got an impressive goal tally despite not seeing much playing time recently; then again if we go with stats Drogba would be up there despite his malaria scare and Chelsea's nightmare run. There's also guys like Charlie Adam and Parker who have CARRIED their teams all season.
Those are just some who in my mind are clearly ahead of Bale, you could make strong cases for other players as well. I don't even think Bale has been the best player at his club!
And for me Chicharito wins young player of the year, just ahead of Wilshere.

i dont think i've contributed to this thread yet.....but since inter fucked themselves over against raul and schleke, i feel real has found a way to tame barcelona and can most likely punch a ticket to the finalzz baybaymorinho da mannnnn

Madrid wins the Kings Cup today proving that Barca are mortal. The Champions League tie will be MASSIVE. Mourinho's a legend.

manchester utd finally able to break down schalke and neur, up 2-0 and all but in the final.

I don't think man utd has it in them to beat real or barca though, to be honest. They've been decent this year, but the spanish giants are on a different level.

Though as much as i hate everyone involved in this scenario...seeing c.ronaldo sink a 30 yard freekick to win the cl against man utd would be excellent.

I don't think any team would beat Barca over 2 legs. They are easily beaten over a match though.

Utd tonight though, should be at least 6 up. But because of Neuer, Schalke were still in it come half time.

yo man utd wouldve won at least 4-0 if it werent for schalke's keeper. that guy played a hell of a game, and is the only reason they stayed in there for so long. im also having some doubts as to whether man utd can pull it off against barca or real, but we'll just have to wait and see

anything can happen in one game... united could beat real or barca in the final. hoping for real, would much rather see that game.

probably the best keeper in the world right now. has all the physical tools and is actually legit when leaving the line.

remember the sentence "oh that guy is good on the line, but has problems controlling the box"? this is said for about 90% of all goalkeepers. and if you have been a goalkeeper, then you know why this is.

everybody on a certain level has good reactions/reflexes. but catching crosses/corners in traffic is so hard its not even funny

so true....There's just so much hate on goalkeepers these days. The only way to understand the position is to actually play it.

and another thing:

its really hard to estimate whether or not a shot is easy, average or very hard to defend on the line. maybe the goalkeeper made a wrong step and thus the ball looks impossible to get to. or maybe he made that wrong step and thus it looked like an impossible save.

thats really hard to compare imo.

but in the box, its easy for every observer: if you leave the line, you have to get the ball.

so in my opinion, the praise on goalkeepers for their efforts on the line is most times exaggerated and the blame they get on crosses/corners is WAY to much.

Adidas sure as hell isn't making it any easier for keepers with those awful new balls. The jabulani is easily the worst ball I've ever had to play in goal against

i dont get that too

this ball should be way better and fly more precisely since its build with all kinds of new technologies and it still is flying randomly all over the place.

they need to get that fixed. its maybe good for fans to see weird/exciting saves but most of the times, the goalkeepers just look like total fools in these situations

BARCELONA vs. Real Madrid kicks off in 1.5 hrs so get pumped. it is playing on FX on the east coast so yea, 2:30 start time, BARCELONA IS GONNA RAPE BITCHES
